3 Helping us Succeed E SAM Immediate need Solutions based Leverage existing tools (Microsoft SCCM, IBM Tivoli, others) Software usage metering License inventory and tracking Deployment/implementation discovery and tracking Library capabilities (house media, provide requests/access, approvals, etc) Manage disparate licensing structure unique to publishers or individual titles Virtualization managing licensing complexities (Cloud, etc) Enterprise License Agreements (ELA) Seeking to establish an agency wide approach to implement and operate enterprise licenses Some ELA s already under TIP Hope is to transition others over time Establish new ELA s as appropriate 3

4 Enterprise Software Asset Management Goal: To cut costs by being smart about what we own, what we use, and how we use it T4 RFQ due out Q1 or Q2 FY15 Looking for a solution, not a product or services alone Existing tools provide deployment information but not licensure information Need a dashboard for discovery and tracking Seeking to monitor usage with potential to automatically remove unused applications How can we easily manage disparate licensing structures? Managing licensure in a virtual environment 4

6 Enterprise Licensing Goal: Establish and oversee Enterprise License Agreements (ELA) to meet all major common requirements No single way enterprise licenses are established Internal inventory underway to identify enterprise or bulk licenses at all levels Inventorying all software applications/titles currently in use to consolidate common requirements and potentially establish ELA s 6
