2 Home School Class Schedule 24 Standard Credit OUR TRADITIONAL 24-CREDIT PROGRAM This program requires students to take 24 credits in subject areas THAT ARE REQUIRED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION such as English, mathematics, science, social studies, practical reading, and comprehension skills. This program offers students the chance to take the credits needed to participate in any community college or technical school. Our program has the requirements to enter the military and at the same time have the flexibility to take the academic courses and meet college/university entrance requirements. Foreign language credit is not required for this program, although it is recommended for community college preparation and is required for admission to Florida s state universities. Our Focus Our academic program focuses on the traditional educational methodologies, which are the requirements of the State of Florida educational system accredited by advanced council for home schooled student. The student can prepare themselves with the required in specified courses in order to maintain a cumulative grade point average of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale with a grade that will earn at least a 3.0 or its equivalent required credits for the college preparatory program. The credits required by this program must satisfy the minimum standards for admission into Florida s, community colleges and technical schools or state universities. CAREER PREPARATORY PROGRAM Our home school educational Program is designed to prepare students for the entrance into a technical center or community college, so that the student can also enter into the workforce. CHOOSING A PROGRAM FOR POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION Students who selected our educational program will find that this program is the opportunity of a life time. 6 2011 Florida Statutes Title XLVIII Chapter 1007 K- 20 EDUCATION CODE ARTICULATION AND ACCESS Florida College System institutions; admissions of students. Each Florida College System institution board of trustees is authorized to adopt rules governing admissions of students subject to this section and rules of the State Board of Education. These rules shall include the following: (1)Admissions counseling shall be provided to all students entering college or career credit programs. Counseling shall utilize tests to measure achievement of college-level communication and computation competencies by all students entering college credit programs or tests to measure achievement of basic skills for career programs as prescribed in s (2)Admission to associate degree programs is subject to minimum standards adopted by the State Board of Education and shall require: (a)a standard high school diploma, a high school equivalency diploma as prescribed in s , Previously demonstrated competency in college credit postsecondary coursework, or, in the case of a student who is home educated, a signed affidavit submitted by the student s parent or legal guardian attesting that the student has completed a home education program pursuant to the requirements of s Students who are enrolled in a dual enrollment or early admission program pursuant to ss and and secondary students enrolled in college-level instruction creditable toward the associate degree, but not toward the high school diploma, shall be exempt from this requirement. (b)a demonstrated level of achievement of college-level communication and computation skills. (c)any other requirements established by the board of trustees. (3)Admission to other programs within the Florida College System institution shall include education requirements as established by the board of trustees. 6
7 (4)A student who has been awarded a special diploma as defined in s or a certificate of completion as defined in s (10) is eligible to enroll in certificate career education programs. (5)A student with a documented disability may be eligible for reasonable substitutions, as prescribed in ss and Florida Statutes Title XLVIII Chapter 1007 K-20 EDUCATION CODE ARTICULATION AND ACCESS Each board of trustees shall establish policies that notify students about, and place students into, adult basic education, adult secondary education, or other instructional programs that provide students with alternatives to traditional college-preparatory instruction, including private provider instruction. A student is prohibited from enrolling in additional college-level courses until the student scores above the cut-score on all sections of the common placement test. History. s. 354, ch ; s. 3, ch ; s. 96, ch College Readiness and Developmental Education A. All first-time-in-college degree-seeking students, regardless of their high school of origin, are required to be assessed for college readiness. Students, who are not collegeready, based on state statutes, are required to enroll in and pass college preparatory classes. Annually reviews the Placement Criteria document that describes the process of demonstrating college readiness and the required placement level in college preparatory courses, based on the scores earned. B. Admissions to College Credit Programs for the Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate of Applied Science, and College Credit Certificate Programs Applicants meeting any of the following criteria are admitted to the above programs: 1. Graduates from any public high school in the United States or territories with a standard diploma, per Florida Statute Any applicant with a Florida public high school withdrawal (completion) code eligible for college credit admission as defined by the Florida Department of Education. 3. Graduates from non-public high schools in the United States and its territories, which do not require the validation of category C. 4. Anyone awarded a Department of Education high school equivalent (GED) 7
8 diploma in the United States and its territories. 5. *Home-schooled students with a signed affidavit from their parent or legal guardian stating that they have completed a Florida home education program, per Florida Statute (Revelation School of Florida is a home educational program for students who are applying for college School) 6. Graduates with the foreign equivalency of a United States high school diploma meeting the entrance requirements for admission to a recognized institution of higher education in their country with original documentation showing all the requisite seals and apostilles. Cases That Require Additional Validation For applicants whose diploma does not meet the criteria above, validation is mandatory in cases where the school or college, in the United States Department of Education (USDOE), or the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) has reason to believe that the diploma is not valid or was not earned from an entity that provides secondary school education. In compliance with 34 CFR (p), the criteria used to determine the validity of such a diploma may include: When only a test and/or payment of fees was required for the issuance of the high school diploma. When the curriculum consisted exclusively of online/distance education instruction and the high school is not listed as an accredited institution 8
9 by Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). Long distance learners of a high schools diploma if they are accredited by the DETC the DETC maintains a list of accredited institutions offering high school via distance education; this list is accessible at Any conflicting high school information from a student. A high school that was previously questioned as being a diploma mill by CHEA or other accredited higher education institution. A review of the list of courses and a description of such courses, grading scale, master schedule, academic year calendar, and information on teachers and certification. Whether the high school is listed in the U.S. Department of Education s National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). If the high school is included in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) non- eligible list, it will not be accepted for admission to the College. 10 D. Transfer Students Students from other post-secondary institutions will be admitted if Transferring from: A U.S. regionally accredited postsecondary institution. A U.S. non-regionally accredited college, university, or other postsecondary institution may be admitted on the basis of the high school diploma according to section II.B. Courses taken at non-regionally accredited institutions that adhere to the Florida Statewide Course Numbering System may be accepted. A foreign college, university, or other post-secondary institution approved by the country s Ministry of Education, with original documentation showing all the requisite seals and apostilles. International students who require a college credit student visa (F-1) must also provide supplementary admission documents as noted in II.B.7 above. E. Dual Enrollment and Early Admission Admission to dual enrollment and early admission is permitted per Florida Statute and based on guidelines listed on the college program of their choice. F.
