Factors limiting exercise capacity in patients with COPD. Over the past 10 years the published work of the applicant has been focused on how dynamic hyperinflation, expiratory flow limitation, impaired cardiac output, competition for blood flow between respiratory and locomotor muscles and peripheral muscle abnormalities, limit exercise capacity in patients COPD and healthy people. ii. Effects of pulmonary rehabilitation in patients with COPD: In addition, the published work of the applicant over the last 15 years has been focused on the effects of exercise training on the degree of exercise-induced dynamic hyperinflation and on remodeling of peripheral muscle fibre phenotypical and gene expression characteristics in COPD. iii.
