2 The New Water Heater Regulations: How Will the 2015 Efficiency Standard Changes Affect Your Home? As of April 15th this year, the DOE is changing national efficiency standards for water heaters nationwide. Manufacturers will stop selling current models, and our plumbers will only be able to install the newer models. What does that mean for homeowners? The New Regulations and Your Home Once the new regulations for water heater efficiency go into effect, manufacturers will only produce upgraded devices. You won t be able to find a direct replacement of your current water heater if it breaks.
