2 UNFOLD THE STORY MERKLE CULTURE GUIDE ABOUT US 6.1 Before we describe our company and what we do, we recommend you take a few minutes to review our Culture Guide. You will find references to our culture all throughout our responses, so having some grounding in our culture will help everything make more sense. We were very intentional when we wrote the guide four years ago. Until that time, Merkle was still rather small and most employees were working together under one roof. Our company scaled up rapidly, and seemingly overnight we found ourselves operating out of multiple different locations 4
3 MERKLE CULTURE GUIDE IS GIVEN TO ALL NEW HIRES throughout the United States, as well as offices in China and the United Kingdom. So we wanted to find a way to explain ourselves to our new employees and to have a way of describing our culture. Since then, our Culture Guide has become an important recruiting tool, with many of our job applicants telling us the Guide helped seal their decision to join Merkle. It s also become a training tool both for our employees and our managers and is now the basis of a week-long leadership development program that will be described later on. What you will read in the following pages will show you, in a very real way, that the guide is not just some slick marketing piece. Rather, it is a blueprint for everything we do at Merkle and the secret sauce that makes Merkle the successful agency it is.
