15 Lessons Learned: Oncology APN An e-based approach was found to be an appropriate, feasible, and an acceptable mode for providing oncology APN mentorship A balance between electronic and non-electronic approaches to providing mentorship was important Program evaluation results re-enforce the need to enhance the development of oncology APN roles and demonstrate the high demand for oncology APN mentorship The e-mentorship Program provides a model that may be relevant to APNs and other advanced health providers in various specialties 15
16 System Impact: Oncology APN Improvements in APN role development e.g., clinical practice, education, research, organizational leadership, scholarly/professional practice Improvement in APN job satisfaction related to professional, social and community interaction 16

19 System Impacts: Enhancing Cancer Care in Primary Practice Improved collaboration among interprofessional primary health care teams and palliative care specialists Increased palliative care knowledge and skills e.g., symptom management for pain, nausea & vomiting, etc. Improved patient and family satisfaction Improved symptom management allowing patients to be managed closer to home Improvements in educational practice, attitudes and self-reported preparation to provide and teach end-oflife care 19
20 Relevance to cancer control Intra- inter-professional mentorship is critical for cancer health care professionals development, recruitment and retention Methodology supports the development of inter-sectoral relationships ementorship is transferable to all cancer professionals 20
