2 POPAI s Marketing at Retail Certification and Continuing Education Program WHAT IT S ABOUT POPAI s MaRC Program is a certification and continuing education program aimed at keeping individuals current on technology, methods, and research in the in-store marketing industry. It s is our industry s only certification program that identifies professionals who know how to effectively produce in-store marketing programs that present an integrated brand experience for the shopper. This program not only raises the standards of the in-store marketing industry, but combines opportunities for members and nonmembers to learn and collaborate while earning credits for the MaRC certification exam. WHAT ARE THE GOALS? RECOGNIZE those who have achieved significant knowledge in the field ADVANCE the in-store marketing profession by keeping individuals abreast of new information ENHANCE the performance of individuals and provide them with a competitive edge in the industry

3 SHOULD I ENROLL? You work with point-of-purchase displays for a brand, producer, advertiser or retailer The MaRC Program is right for you if: You are a producer of in-store marketing material and wish to advance your professional development You represent an advertising agency who works with in-store marketing advertising You are new to the industry and want to learn all aspects of the industry You are affiliated with a university, college, and/ or other higher education institution and teach and/or promote in-store marketing You are professionally connected with professionals who work in the in-store marketing industry WHAT IT MEANS TO BE CERTIFIED This certification is recognized by industry members as an achievement of relevant and extensive education that gives you a competitive edge. It also demonstrates a commitment to continued advancement and professionalism in the industry.

4 POPAI s Marketing at Retail Certification and Continuing Education Program HOW CERTIFICATION WORKS To become MaRC Certified you must earn 27 credits. The credits are broken down into 3 categories: Strategic, Tactical, and Take Action. You must receive 9 credits in each category to apply for the MaRC exam. After earning all 27 Credits, the Enrollee is eligible to take the Marketing at Retail Certification exam online. It can be taken any time during the year and consists of 100 multiple choice questions. Once the enrollee passes, he/she can add,marc to his/her business cards, letterheads and more. EARN CREDITS IN THESE CATEGORIES 1. STRATEGIC Attend Events, Webinars, or Online Classes on the following topics: Advertising, Marketing, Branding, Sales Promotion, Research, Consumer Behavior 2. TACTICAL Attend Events, Webinars, or Online Classes on the following topics: Design and Engineering, Digital Signage, Materials and Production Methods, Printing, New Technology, Types of Displays 3. TAKE ACTION Take action in the field by: Participating in POPAI and industry events, Being active in one of POPAI s committees, Advancing the industry, hosting a webinar, Creating content for POPAI online classes

WEBINARS & ONLINE CLASSES Attending: 1 CREDIT, category 1 or 2 depending on content Hosting: 2 CREDITS, category 3 EVENTS Retail Tour: 1 CREDIT, category 3 MarketSmart, Pulse of the Shopper Nation, Breakthrough Thinking Series, GlobalShop, POPAI U on the Road, West Coast POP Show: 2 CREDITS, category 1 POPAI U Master s program: 18 CREDITS (6 in each category) INVOLVEMENT Judging POPAI event: 3 CREDITS, category 3 Participating in a Committee: 3 CREDITS/year, category 3 Participation at Industry Event: CREDITS VARY, category 3 Advancing the Industry: CREDITS VARY, category 3

7 HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO COMPLETE THE PROGRAM? Candidates typically take one to one and a half years to complete their certification. Two-thirds of your MaRC credits come from attendance to POPAI s Master s program. Completion of POPAI s Master s program ensures that you are on the fast-track to receiving your status as a certified MaRC professional. After earning all 27 Credits, the Enrollee is eligible to take the Marketing at Retail Certification exam online. It can be taken any time during the year and consists of 100 multiple choice questions. Once the enrollee passes, he/she can identify themselves as,marc on his/her business cards and letterhead. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST? MaRC PROGRAM REGISTRATION FEES $250 Member Registration $300 NON-Members Registration EXAM FEE $50 Members $100 NON-Members + ADDITIONAL EVENT REGISTRATION FEES ( For category 2 requiremets )

8 SO WHAT S NEXT? Follow these three easy steps to obtain your MaRC credentials: STEP No. 1: Complete the form on page nine to register for the MaRC Program. Either Scan the attached form and fax it in attention of POPAI Education to or it to education@popai.com STEP No. 2: Earn nine credits in each of the three MaRC categories. Credits are earned by attending and participating in qualifying POPAI industry events including webinars and online classes. However, you can only earn nine out of the required 27 credits online. The remaining 18 credits must be earned through attending or/and participating in Popai s industry events. Track your credits on page six or on the website at popai.com/marc-certification STEP No. 3: Once you have earned 27 credits, complete the form on page 10 to take the MaRC Exam online. Once you pass the exam, you will be MaRC certified for three years. Continue to take nine credits every three years to maintain your certification. Otherwise, your certification will expire and you will be considered a retired MaRC member. The recertification program ensures that you are always at the forefront of the industry and armed with the latest knowledge. EVENT ATTENDANCE FROM 3 YEARS BACK COUNTS!
