1 Milan Police Department Incident and Activity Summary for Dec 8 thru Dec *Note Update for last two weeks of December will be out Monday, This is a summary of incidents that the police department responded to over the last week. It is meant to provide a review of the type and variety of issues occurring in the community that the PD handled. It does not reflect every incident responded to, as some may be too sensitive to list on a document of this nature, while others are still under investigation. All names of complainants, suspects, and witnesses, as well as residential addresses have been omitted to insure privacy. In some cases the street name has also been left off. General Notes and Definitions: CFS is the Call for Service or police incident number of the given case. The next number in line is the military time an incident occurred or was reported. Property checks include activities such as checking buildings; they also include checking residences when citizens ask for additional attention due to being out of town. Foot Patrols include activities where officers get out of their cars and walk downtown, in and around businesses, through neighborhoods, as well as at the schools. Community/public Relations include community or special events that officers work or participate in; they also include instances where an officer stops in at a business and checks in with the owner/employees, or touches base with citizens while conducting patrols in and around neighborhoods to talk, share information, or provide crime prevention tips. Medical/Fire Tally is the total of all EMS and Fire runs dispatched out of the Milan PD Dispatch Center each day. Since this is a Fire Authority and serves areas outside the city limits, the tally serves to reinforce the totality of Fire and EMS runs dispatched both inside and outside the city. Family Troubles/Domestics are incidents where the PD is called involving any number of disputes between spouses, ex-spouses, boyfriend/girlfriends, ex-boyfriends/girlfriends, custody disputes, as well as property disputes. In these cases, police investigation may not result in formal enforcement action, nonetheless the police are called upon to intervene, insure safety, keep the peace, and attempt to assist in providing solutions. Peace Keeping/Civil Matters/Miscellaneous Disputes are incidents that involve some sort of conflict that does not rise to the level of a crime, however the police are called to try and mitigate and/or resolve the issues, assist the disputants solve the underlying problems, stand by while property is removed, resolve neighbor problems, stand by during custody exchanges, or simply keep the peace between individuals that are arguing with one another. Background Checks are done for citizens requiring pre-employment fingerprints for criminal history checks, or they involve candidates for law enforcement positions undergoing background checks where the potential hiring agency is asking Milan PD to conduct records queries for contacts and/or police reports.
2 Fingerprints are required when a subject who is wanted on an outstanding warrant appears in court; the court directs them to the PD for fingerprinting. Threats/Harassment Complaints include verbal threats, harassing/threatening text messages, and threatening/harassing telephone calls. Noise Complaints include any number or ordinance violations such as loud music, loud parties, construction noises, loud engines/exhausts, disturbing the peace, etc. Liquor Inspections are required by the State Liquor Control Commission. They involve inspecting establishments that sell alcohol to insure minors are not being served; individuals are not being overserved; licensing guidelines are being followed; and there are no disturbances, disorderly conduct or other illegal activities taking place. Traffic Arrests are arrests for drunk driving and license violations, such as Driving on a Suspended License, Driving Without a License in Possession; Operators License never Acquired. Emotional/Psychological Incidents are incidents where a subject is in emotional/psychological distress and as a result are a threat to harm themselves or someone else, and therefore require hospitalization for medical/psychological treatment/evaluation. 3 Incident Summaries: Saturday December 21 CFS# Dexter AOA (MSP) Ofc McLaughlin/Sgt Burgos responded to above for report of a traffic crash with injuries. MAFD/HVA also responded. Once Ofc s arrived on scene it was determined it was part of another crash that occurred on US 23. Ofc s stood by until MSP could arrive and take crash report. CFS# Main 911 Hang Up Ofc McLaughlin responded to a 911 hang up. Ofc made contact with male subject on scene who had dropped his phone which may have caused it to dial 911. Everyone was secure and no problems were found. CFS# S Platt/Canfield Extra Patrols Ofc Walters conducted extra patrols while checking the area of the water main break. CFS# Hack Parking Complaint Ofc Walters responded for report of a vehicle blocking a driveway. Ofc located and spoke with subject on scene who advised there would be no further problems with his vehicles parking there. CFS# Subpoena Service Ofc McLaughlin was out to deliver a subpoena on an upcoming court case. Friday December 20 CFS# Dexter Assist MAFD Sgt Burgos responded to assist MAFD on a report of a vehicle on fire at a gas station. Vehicle had overheated and MAFD had determined that there was no fire or any further hazard. CFS# Harassment Sgt Burgos spoke with a female reference being harassed by phone and on Facebook. Sgt took report and is investigating. CFS# Dexter Suspicious Sgt Burgos responded for report of a female subject acting suspiciously inside the store; management was concerned about possible shoplifting in progress. Sgt checked the area but was unable to locate the subject. Follow-up at the store revealed no evidence of any thefts. CFS# Custody Dispute/Civil Sgt met with a male subject reference a custody issue he is having. Sgt counseled subject on some different ways to try and resolve the situation; it is a civil matter. CFS# MHS Traffic Complaint School Resource Ofc Heams responded for report of a juvenile driving recklessly in his vehicle after getting into a verbal altercation with another juvenile. Ofc is investigating. CFS# Platt/Canfield Assist DPW Ofc Walters responded to check for a possible water main break. DPW was contacted and Ofc stood by until they arrived. CFS# Assist Other Agency Dispatch was contacted by Waterloo, Ontario Police to check for a vehicle that was possibly involved in a hit and run crash in their jurisdiction and apparently registered to an address in Milan. Follow-up at the location in question revealed the owner of the
4 vehicle does not live in Milan, was in fact a Canadian citizen, but may be using the address in question to register his vehicle in Michigan. Possible contact info for the suspect was obtained and forwarded to the Waterloo Police. CFS# Fraud Officer Walters took a report involving a computer/on-line fraud. Victim paid $400 to have his account unlocked and later discovered $5000 in fraud against his credit card account and over $1000 fraudulently removed from his bank account. Under investigation. CFS# County Larceny from Auto Ofc Walters took a report from complainant that a vehicle belonging to a family member had been entered and a radio face plate stolen over night. Thursday December 19 CFS# North St Suspicious Sgt Chatell responded to meet w/complainant who advised that he saw a gray Chevrolet cab and a half pick up driving by his house really slowly. He stated he saw a younger w/m with black pants and a red shirt run through his yard and get into the truck. He advised that the truck went south on North St and then East on Michigan. Complainant stated when he checked his yard his Christmas reindeer decorations were pulled from the ground and left in a pile. He stated he put the decorations bac, they work fine, and were not damaged. CFS# Anderson/Redman Parking Complaint Ofc Chatell responded for report of a truck parked at the location for an extended period of time w/out being moved. Sgt checked area and found two trucks parked in the vicinity, however it did not appear that they had been there an extended period of time. Follow-up w/complainant pending. CFS# Allen Traffic Hazard Ofc Terrill responded for report of a subject blowing snow into the street. Ofc was unable to locate. CFS# Main Property Damage Crash Ofc Couture responded for report of a 2 car property damage crash with no injuries. Both cars required tows. Ofc took crash report. CFS# Platt Larceny Ofc Couture responded to speak with a female reference her cell phone that was stolen. Ofc took report and is investigating. CFS# Welfare Check Canton PD called and requested a welfare check on a child. Apparently a parent had picked up the child from school on an noncustody day and the other parent was concerned. Ofc Couture responded and located the child w/a grandparent. The child was fine. Canton PD advised; civil matter. CFS# Canfield Suspicious Ofc Couture responded for a report of the smell of marijuana in area. Ofc was able to speak w/an occupant of a residence where the smell was detected. The on-scene investigation did not result in the discovery of any marijuana. The subject was warned. CFS# County Dog At Large Ofc Couture responded for report of a dog running loose in area. Ofc was able to determine where the dog lived. Ofc spoke with owner and they were given a warning.
5 CFSF# York Assist MAFD Ofc Couture responded to assist MAFD on a possible carbon monoxide leak. A female on scene was complaining of a headache. MAFD checked the house and was able to determine there were no levels of carbon monoxide in the home. Female on scene did not wish further medical care. CFS# Threats School Resource Ofc Heams assisted the school administration investigate an incident involving a young teen writing a threatening message on a school bathroom wall. Parents were contacted and the youth TOT them pending outcome. Juvenile court petition sent to prosecutor for review. CFS# Greentree Parking Violation While on patrol Ofc Couture tagged a vehicle for a 48 Hour parking violation. CFS# Warrant Arrest Ofc Couture completed a Court Cancelled Warrant report on a male subject from Milan for Failure to Appear for Driving While License Suspended; court contacted MPD and advised the subject had been arraigned on the outstanding warrant. CFS# Check Welfare Ofc Smith conducted a welfare check on a female who was reportedly not answering her phone. Boyfriend from out of town claimed she had a male subject staying with her who was not letting her answer her phone and so he was concerned about her welfare. Ofc made contact with subject who stated she was ok, explained the male complainant keeps calling her and she is trying to sleep; she did not need any help. Original caller advised. CFS# Warrant Arrest Sgt Chatell completed a Court Cancelled Warrant Report on a male subject from Milan whom court advised had been arraigned on an outstanding MPD warrant for failing to appear on a traffic violation. CFS# Warrant Arrest Ofc Smith responded to the Monroe County Jail to pick up a male subject from Dundee who had a Warrant for Drug Paraphernalia out of our Dept. Ofc picked up subject and he was transported to the Washtenaw County Jail for arraignment. Wednesday December 18 CFS# Dexter Motorist Assist While on patrol Ofc Smith observed a semi that had run out of gas and was blocking a lane of traffic. Ofc stood by until the fueling was complete as the semi was causing a traffic hazard. CFS# W Braman/Willana Parking Complaint Sgt Chatell placed a 48 hour parking warning tag on a vehicle that did not appear to have been moved for some time. CFS# Dexter & Arkona Motorist Assist While on patrol Sgt Chatell assisted a male subject push his vehicle that had broken down to a safe place off the road. CFS# Main Found Property Ofc Terrill responded and spoke with a male subject reference a wallet that was found belonging to someone who lives in Milan. Ofc made contact with the owner of the wallet and gave them the info of where she could go to pick the wallet up. CFS# Main Drug Paraphernalia Ofc Couture responded for a found backpack with marijuana in it. Ofc identified the owner and is following up; possible charges pending.
6 CFS# Pennsylvania Private Property Crash Ofc Couture responded for report of a private property crash with no injuries. Ofc took crash report. CFS# Main/RR Gate Lights Malfunctioning Dispatch received calls reference railroad lights that were not working at the crossing. The railroad company was notified. Tuesday December 17 CFS# Assist Medical Ofc Smith responded to assist MAFD with helping a male subject into his house that had just been released from the hospital and had his ankle in a cast. Subject was assisted into the house with no problems. CFS# Warrant Arrest Lt Nieman handled a report from court advising a 26 YOM from Ypsilanti had been arraigned on an outstanding MPD warrant for Failure to Appear for Possession of Marijuana. CFS# Platt/St Louis Assist DPW Dispatch received a call regarding the blinking light not working on a construction barrel posted for the water main break on Platt Rd. DPW was contacted and went out and replaced the barrel. CFS# Miller/North Suspicious Sgt Chatell checked for a vehicle that was parked with its flashers on. Sgt located the vehicle which was unoccupied and legally parked. CFS# Serve Subpoena s School Resource Officer Heams served several subpoenas to subjects involved in an ongoing case. CFS# Dexter Fraud Ofc Couture responded regarding a counterfeit $20.00 bill that was passed at a business. Ofc took report and is investigating. CFS# Scam/Suspicious School Resource Ofc Heams took a report that the complainant received three mailings addressed to a subject using the complainant s address; there was no one associated with the address under the name listed. The mailings contained letters and money orders from the Post Office made out to three different people. The letter advised each they had been selected as Mystery Shoppers and to cash the money orders at their bank. Each money order was for $980.00, and the letter instructed that each Secret Shopper gets to keep $ for the first survey, as well as use $50.00 dollars for a purchase at Walmart. The letter instructed that the remaining money from each cashed money order was to be sent to a location in the Philippines. The Post Office confirmed the money orders were fake. There were no actual victims in this case. CFS# Dexter/Arkona Reckless Driver Ofc Couture checked the area for a vehicle driving recklessly; area was checked and vehicle was gone. CFS# Kay/Wright Parking Violation While on patrol Ofc McLaughlin observed a parking violation. A citation was issued for parking left wheel to curb. CFS# Marvin/Ideal Parking Violation While on patrol Ofc McLaughlin tagged a vehicle for a 48 Hour parking violation. CFS# First Parking Violation While on patrol Ofc McLaughlin tagged a vehicle for a 48 Hour parking violation.

Plate info was obtained on suspect vehicle. Ofc took report and is investigating. CFS# Warrant Arrest Ofc McLaughlin handled a report from court advising a female from Maybee wanted on an outstanding MPD warrant for Failure to Appear for a Traffic Violation was in custody at Washtenaw County Jail. Monday December 16 CFS# Ideal/Dexter Parking Violation While on patrol Sgt Burgos tagged a vehicle for a 48 Hour parking violation. CFS# Argyle Parking Violation While on patrol Sgt Burgos tagged a vehicle for a 48 Hour parking violation. CFS# Everett/Iva Parking Violation While on patrol Sgt Burgos tagged a vehicle for a 48 Hour parking violation. CFS# W Main/Iva Parking Violation While on patrol Sgt Burgos tagged a vehicle for a 48 Hour parking violation. CFS# Main Animal Welfare Sgt Burgos responded for report of a dog locked in a vehicle that appeared to be in distress. Sgt checked the area, but the vehicle was gone. CFS# MPD Warrant Arrest Ofc Terrill arrested a male subject from Milan on a warrant for Driving While License Suspended out of Sumpter Twp PD. He was booked and turned over to Sumpter Twp who came and picked him up. CFS# Suspicious Incident Ofc Terrill investigated a suspicious incident. Caller reported when she was assisting her small child get into their car, her child advised her that she thought she saw a child getting put into a car that was parked nearby and the child may have been in distress. Caller herself reported neither seeing nor noticing anything unusual or suspicious. Ofc Terrill checked the area and did not find anything out of order. He followed up with neighbors in the area who were home at the time. None reported seeing anything suspicious or unusual or anything that would indicate a child in distress. It is believed that a child was being legitimately picked up in the area and the caller s small child may have thought the child was in distress, when in fact there was nothing amiss. CFS# Main Blocking Driveway Ofc Walters was responded to the area regarding a semi-truck blocking the driveway. Ofc located the truck/driver who was moving it when Ofc arrived.
8 CFS# Hack Found Dog Ofc Walters responded for a dog that was found at a residence. The dog was brought back to the station where it was held until the owner came in to get it a short time later. CFS# North Parking Violation Ofc Walters tagged a vehicle for a 48 hour parking violation. CFS# Platt/St Louis Assist DPW Dispatch received a call about a water main break in the area. DPW was notified and responded. CFS# High School Assist Medical School Resource Ofc Heams responded to assist MAFD/HVA on a medical for a subject that appeared to be having a seizure. Subject was left in care of a parent. Sunday December 15 CFS# Main Suspicious While on patrol Ofc McLaughlin observed the gate leading into the business was open. It s usually closed and locked after hours. Ofc was unable to secure the gate; the lock appeared frozen. Officer did check the exterior of the building and all was secure. CFS# Assist Medical Sgt Burgos responded to assist MAFD/HVA on a medical for a male subject that was found w/out shoes and wearing only sweatpants intoxicated and passed out in the driveway. Subject was transported to hospital. CFS# Platt H/R Crash Sgt Burgos responded for report of a hit/run crash with no injuries. One vehicle hit another and fled the scene. Sgt took crash report and is investigating. CFS# Wright/Lee Citizen Assist Sgt Burgos assisted a subject w/a transport to their vehicle that was parked Downtown. CFS# Assist CPS Ofc Walters assisted Washtenaw County Child Protective Service worker who was checking the well being of children in a home; no problems were found CFS# Platt/Obrian Motorist Assist While on patrol Ofc Walters located a motorist that ran out of gas. He transported the subject to the gas station to get gas and then returned him to the vehicle. CFS# Ann Marie Traffic Complaint Ofc Walters responded for report of someone riding a snowmobile up and down the street. Ofc made contact with the owner of the snowmobile and gave him a warning. CFS# Main Assault Sgt Burgos/Ofc Smith responded for report of 2 subjects fighting in the establishment. Ofc s located and made contact with both subjects. Fight was over when officers arrived. One had injuries to his face, but stated he did not require medical attention. Each provided a different account of what transpired. Both subjects left the establishment for the evening. Under investigation by Ofc s. Saturday December 14 CFS# Assist DPW Ofc Smith requested DPW to come out and clear the streets due to icy conditions.
9 CFS# Kay/Wright Parking Complaint Ofc Smith responded for report of a vehicle parked in front of a fire hydrant. Ofc issued a written warning. CFS# Miller Suspicious Sgt Burgos responded for report of a vehicle occupied by two young males repeatedly driving by complainant s residence, as well as parking nearby and screaming obscenities. Sgt checked the area, but the vehicle was gone. CFS# Civil Standby/Peacekeeping Sgt. Burgos responded to standby during custody exchange; there were no problems during the standby and Sgt cleared scene. CFS# Wabash Disorderly Sgt Burgos responded for report of a subject that threw snow at a vehicle driving by. Sgt located and counseled the subject on his behavior. Subject advised he thought the driver was someone he knew and did it as a joke, but it turned out he was mistaken/the driver was not the person he thought it was. He assured Sgt he wouldn t engage in similar behavior. CFS# High School Special Detail Lt Nieman, School Resource Ofc Heams, and Res Ofc Shehan worked the high school for a showcase basketball tournament. There were no problems. CFS# Wabash Dog At Large Ofc Walters responded for report of a dog running loose. Ofc checked the area but was unable to locate it. CFS# Assist DPW Ofc McLaughlin requested Dispatch call DPW and advised them the roads were getting slippery. DPW was notified and advised they would be sending out a crew. CFS# County/Marvin Traffic Stop/Officer Safety Ofc McLaughlin was looking for a vehicle reportedly being driven by a female who may be intoxicated, with a male passenger possibly in possession of a handgun w/out a CPL. He observed a vehicle matching the description. It was driving w/out a license plate on E Main St near Ferman St. Ofc conducted a stop and made contact with the occupants. The female was not drunk and there was no evidence found re a weapon inside the vehicle. The female driver was issued a warning re the plate. CFS# County Suspicious Complainant called stating that a subject was throwing things at her house. Sgt Burgos went over and walked around the entire yard and did not see any fresh foot prints in the snow other than his; unfounded. CFS# Ideal Suspicious Ofc McLaughlin responded for report of suspicious subject walking near houses, as well as sitting near a tree, rolling around on the ground, and then proceeding on foot again. Ofc made contact with the male subject who was intoxicated. Subject stated he was walking home from the store after trying unsuccessfully to purchase more alcohol, as the store was already closed. He refused a ride home. CFS# Primrose Suspicious Ofc McLaughlin responded for report of a subject observed sleeping inside ca car near caller s residence. Ofc made contact with the male subject who was visiting from West Virginia. Subject was intoxicated. He was transported to the station until officers could determine where he was staying. Eventually a family member was located and came and picked him up. CFS# Wabash Larceny Sgt Burgos responded for report of an Open sign that was taken from the business by a customer. The sign was later returned to the owner.
10 CFS# Daisy Lane and Morning Glory Odor Investigation Ofc McLaughlin responded to assist MAFD on a report of the smell of gas in the area. Area was checked and no gas odor was detected. Friday December 13 CFS# Assist Medical Ofc McLaughlin/ Sgt Burgos responded to assist MAFD/HVA on a medical for an 86 year old female choking. Subject was able to dislodge the item. CFS# Lewis Solicitor Complaint Sgt Burgos responded for report of subject going door to door without a permit. Sgt checked the area, but was unable to locate. CFS# Solicitors Complainant called to report that a male and female were going door to door on Willana attempting to get consumers to switch gas/electric carriers without a solicitor s permit. Sgt Burgos checked the area and was not able to locate them. Dispatch received a second call stating they were on Cherry near York. Sgt Burgos responded to that location and made contact with them at Elm/Church. There were three subjects located, two females and one male. All three had outstanding arrest warrants from other departments for minor offenses. None of those departments were able to pick them up. Another subject, a female, was reported going door to door in the Allen Road area. Chief Scherlinck responded there and picked her up. She was with the same group. None of the subjects had valid driver s licenses. Their supervisor was contacted and made arrangement to come and pick them and their vehicle up. They were warned regarding soliciting w/out a permit. At about the same time, Dispatch received another call about solicitors in the 400 blk of Argyle. Sgt Burgos made contact with 2 subjects there from Cleanwater Action. They had a permit. CFS# Silver Fox Suspicious Ofc Walters responded for report of a vehicle occupied by an unknown male driving around the complex several times. Ofc checked the area but was unable to locate; area checked and nothing appeared amiss. CFS# York Solicitor Complaint Ofc Walters responded for a report subjects going door to door selling meat. Ofc made contact with the subjects and advised them they needed to get a permit though the City to be able to continue soliciting. CFS Main/Wabash Assist Citizen Ofc Walters observed a blue pickup truck sitting at the intersection with its flashers on. Ofc made contact with a male subject who was having mechanical problems w/his vehicle. Ofc stood by. Subject was able to get his vehicle running and continue on his way. CFS# Warrant Arrest Ofc McLaughlin handled a report regarding a subject from Clinton arrested on an outstanding MPD warrant for Failure to Appear Speeding. CFS# Warrant Arrest Ofc McLaughlin handled report regarding a subject from Clinton who was arrested on an outstanding MPD warrant for Failure to Appear - No Proof Insurance. CFS# Suspicious Sgt Burgos is investigating an incident where a child had possibly obtained inappropriate material from another family member s computer; appears unfounded, but remains under investigation
11 Thursday December 12 CFS# County Suspicious Sgt Burgos responded to meet with complainant regarding someone throwing sticks at her house. Sgt was unable to lo locate anybody around the house. Sgt spoke with complainant about these ongoing issues. CFS# Smith Alarm Ofc Walters responded for a report of a burglary alarm. Ofc checked all windows and doors which appeared to be secure. Dispatch attempted to make contact with a key holder, but was unsuccessful. CF# Plank/ US 23 Suspicious Ofc Walters responded for report of a vehicle sitting in the road with no lights on. Ofc made contact with a subject in the vehicle who had ran out of gas. Subject already had assistance with them. Ofc cleared scene. CFS# County/Marvin Drunk Driving and Possession of Marijuana Arrest While on a traffic stop Ofc McLaughlin detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The driver smelled of intoxicants. When the driver exited to perform sobriety tests, he dropped a joint on the ground. Investigation revealed the driver was drunk and in possession of marijuana. The 48 year old male from Milan was arrested. Subject was brought back to the PD where he was booked/held until sober. Wednesday December 11 CFS# Welfare Check Sgt Chatell spoke with a subject reference an ongoing custody issue and concerns about the welfare of complainant s children who were at ex s home. Sgt checked on the children s welfare and advised complainant they were fine. CFS# Second Suspicious Ofc Terrill responded to above for report of a male subject that walked up the driveway of a vacant house. Caller was concerned subject may have entered the home. Ofc checked the area and located footprints in the snow that indicated the subject continued walking through the area and had not entered the home in question. Ofc was not able to locate the subject in the area. CFS# Ferman Alarm Ofc Couture responded for a burglary alarm. Ofc made contact with subject on scene who advised the alarm was set off by accident and there was no problem. CFS# Main/Railroad Traffic Hazard Ofc Couture advised the railroad signal light was going on and off with no train around. The railroad company was contacted by Dispatch for repairs. CFS# Civil Ofcs Couture/Walters met with male subject reference concerns he was having about his adult daughter. Ofc s provided subject with some paperwork on domestic issues and advice on helping out his daughter. CFS# County Mental Caller reported subjects possibly throwing things at house. Ofc Smith checked the house and the area and nothing was amiss. Tuesday December 10 CFS# County Suspicious While on patrol Ofc Smith observed an empty space at the car lot. There was normally a car parked there. A key holder was contacted and responded to check it out. It was determined the car was in fact taken by an employee who had permission to take it. No other problems were found and Ofc cleared scene.
12 CFS# County Warrant Arrest While on a traffic stop Ofc Smith arrested a male subject from Ypsilanti who was a passenger in the vehicle who had 2 outstanding criminal bench warrants out of Washtenaw County Sheriff s Dept. for a Noise Violation and Open Intoxicants in a Motor Vehicle. Ofc met with the Sheriff s Dept and subject was turned over to them. CFS# Assist Medical Sgt Chatell responded to above to assist MAFD/HVA on a medical, for a female that had fallen outside and had a broken leg. Subject was transported to Hospital. CFS# Main Alarm Sgt Chatell responded for report of a burglary alarm. The alarm was cancelled prior to Sgt s arrival. CFS# Allen Reckless Driver Ofc Couture responded for report of a reckless driver. Ofc checked the area and was unable to locate. CFS# Assist Ofc Couture assisted a male subject with helping his wife who had just been released from the hospital into the house. She was able to get inside without any problems and Ofc cleared scene. CFS# Possible Criminal Sexual Conduct Ofc Heams initiated an investigation into an allegation that an 18 year old male may have had consensual sex w/a minor. CFS# Main/RR Traffic Hazard Dispatch notified the railroad company of the crossing lights not working properly. CFS# Welfare Check Officer Couture was dispatched to check on an elderly subject who had been on the phone with a TV provider and apparently passed out. Ofc made contact w/subject who advised she was in a dispute over service and apparently passed out during the conversation on the phone. Ofc had HVA respond to evaluate her. HVA recommended that she go to the hospital, however she did not want to go. Her son was located and he responded to stay with her. CFS# Missing Guns Ofc Couture spoke with a male subject regarding a shot gun and rifle that he discovered missing from his home. He hasn t seen them for a long period of time. Under Investigation by Ofc. CFS# Bodley Cres Property Damage Accident Ofc Couture responded report of a crash involving a vehicle striking a tree. Subject was not injured; minor damage. Ofc took crash report. Monday December 9 CFS# Special Detail Sgt Chatell/Ofc Smith raised the flags at the park and library to back to full staff. CFS# Dexter Suspicious Sgt Chatell/Ofc Smith responded for a report of a vehicle standing in the parking lot with the lights on and running for over an hour. Ofc s made contact with a female who stated she wasn t feeling well and pulled over to rest for awhile. She advised she would be on her way home shortly. CFS# County Found Property Sgt Chatell responded to pick up a found wallet. It was brought back to the PD and held for safekeeping until the owner could come and pick it up.
13 CFS# E Main/Ferman Traffic Crash Ofc Terrill responded to a 2 car traffic crash with injuries. A two year old who was a passenger in one of the cars was complaining of pain. MAFD/HVA responded to evaluate child; minor injuries. The mother stated she would take her child to the hospital on her own. One of the cars was not drivable and had to be towed. Ofc took Crash report. CFS# MPD Arrest Assist Ofc Terrill was following up on a case involving a subject who had been involved in a prior MPD case where the subject had been arrested and charged w/stalking. The subject s most recent arrest involved drunk driving in another jurisdiction. Consuming alcohol was a violation of the probation conditions on the MPD stalking case. Ofc Terrill followed up w/the Probation Officer and learned two violation of probation warrants had been issued against the suspect as a result of the most recent arrest. Ofc Terrill contacted the arresting department to advise them of those new warrants. They reported the subject had just been released on the pending drunk driving charges, however located and re-arrested the subject on the new charges, as he was still in their lot. CFS# Civil Ofc Terrill to a report from an elderly male subject regarding him loaning his vehicle to a female acquaintance who had not returned it. This is an ongoing issue where the complainant continues to loan his vehicle to the same female subject and when she fails to return it on time, he makes a police report. Ofc Terrill advised the complainant that criminal charges were not possible due to his repeatedly loaning the car to her with the pre-knowledge that she does not return it. Ofc has been working with Adult Protective Services to assist with the situation. CFS# E Main/Wabash Traffic Crash Ofc Couture responded for a 2 car crash with no injuries. Ofc took crash report. CFS# W Main/RR Traffic Hazard Ofc Couture responded for report of the railroad lights not working properly. Caller reported the lights were going on and off with no train around. The railroad company was notified. CFS Cherry/Church Assist DPW Dispatch received a call of a possible water main break in area. DPW was advised and responded. CFS# W Main/Railroad Traffic Hazard Ofc Smith responded to above for report of the railroad signal malfunctioning. Caller reported that the lights were going on and off with no train around. Disp contacted AA Railroad who advised they would be sending a crew out to fix it. CFS# Platt Traffic Arrest While on a traffic stop Ofc Smith arrested the male driver form Monroe for Driving While License Suspended. Subject was brought back to the station and booked/released. CFS# Assist DPW Ofc Smith had Dispatch contact DPW and advise him of the road conditions becoming icy in the city. DPW advised they would be sending someone out with a salt truck shortly. CFS# SB 23 N/O Carpenter AOA (MSP) MSP requested our assistance in checking for a subject walking in traffic. All MSP units were tied up on vehicle crashes due to poor road conditions at the time. Ofc Smith checked the area. The subject was not located. Sunday December 8 CFS# Family Trouble Ofc Couture responded to two 911 calls involving subjects in a heated argument. Ofc made contact with a male and female who were arguing over some family issues. It was all verbal and no assault occurred. Both subjects were counseled on their actions and assured officer there would be no further problems.
14 CFS# Ideal Suspicious While on patrol Ofc Smith observed a subject in a parked vehicle with his head down. Ofc made contact with a male subject from Ypsilanti who stated he was listening to music and smoking a cigarette. He was visiting a female friend who lived in the area. No problems found and Ofc cleared scene.
