3 Undergraduate and Transfer Audition Requirements Each prospective freshman and transfer applicant must perform an admission audition in his/her major area of performance before a School of Music faculty representative or committee. This audition will consist of prepared etudes and/or solo literature as well as tests in sight reading proficiency, a demonstration of ability to match pitches vocally, and other basics such as scales and arpeggios. Each prospective transfer music major at the time of his/her admission audition will be given a verbal description of the performance growth required for successful completion of the performance requirements of his/her particular degree plan and an estimated number of semesters involved if additional applied study is indicated. A student may challenge any course in which he/she feels completely proficient and, by examination, be excused from the requirement. A prospective student must receive an official letter of acceptance from the School of Music before he/she may register as a music major. Audition materials should demonstrate the applicant s musical and technical ability and be representative of his/her present stage of development and potential for growth. The following suggested repertoire is not necessarily required, but should be considered a guide in planning the audition.
