5 Strategic Plan and Leadership Please provide your school s diversity mission statement if applicable. At, we are committed to excellence in education for a diverse society. To that end, several offices at CSU East Bay are devoted to assisting the campus community in achieving a workforce reflective of the diversity of the State of California and our student body and a work and learning environment free of illegal discrimination, harassment and retaliation. The director of equal employment opportunities programs is the campus administrator responsible for administering CSU nondiscrimination, anti-harassment and non-retaliation policies and is the campus administrator designated by the president to determine the nature of any discrimination/harassment/retaliation claims and to explore a resolution of the claim. The office of student judicial affairs is also designated to receive discrimination/harassment/retaliation claims and to refer them to the appropriate office(s). The director of equal employment opportunities programs in the human resources department (1) insures development and implementation of campus policies and procedures associated with equal opportunity and affirmative action in employment; (2) monitors recruitment for staff and administrative positions for compliance with EEO and affirmative action laws; (3) investigates and recommends resolution of complaints of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, or other equal opportunity violations; (4) facilitates reasonable accommodations for faculty, staff and administrators; and (5) assures compliance with disability access laws. How does your school s leadership communicate the importance of diversity to your student body, faculty and administration? To prevent discrimination, harassment and retaliation and encourage the reporting of such conduct, training needs to be provided. Such training includes what constitutes discrimination, harassment and/or retaliation under applicable law; the rights and responsibilities of each individual relating to such conduct; the protection against retaliation for individuals who report such conduct or participate in an investigation; the internal complaint procedures for filing, investigating and resolving such conduct; and the options and method for filing complaints with external government agencies. Today, training is available about online sexual harassment and discrimination/harassment. Other training programs are in the works and should be available soon, such as disability training for managers, recruitment and selection procedures and strategies and online discrimination/harassment training.
