He has been an apprentice to the world renowned Jyotish master, Hart defouw, and teacher at the Vedic Vidya Institute in San Rafael, CA. Steven is certified by the American Council of Vedic Astrologers and is a graduate of The Ayurvedic Institute of New Mexico where he studied classical Ayurveda under the direction of Dr. Vasant Lad for many years. A grand tradition that has its roots in the Veda itself, Jyotisha is an integral part of the cultural, religious and philosophical fabric of India. It is an open secret that all yogis, mystics and priests in India have a working knowledge of Jyotisha and use it as an indispensible part of their daily practice and ritual. Ayur meaning life and Veda meaning deep knowledge. Ayurveda is the science and wisdom of how to live a healthy and balanced life. To find balance we must first understand our individual nature. According to Ayurveda, each person is comprised of three fundamental energies called Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Every person has their own individualized blend of these basic energies from birth and this is our constitution. If we know our innate nature, then we can organize our routines, diet, practice and lifestyle to find our way back to the balance that is our fundamental nature. 3 Workshops on selected Vedic Traditions With Steven Highburger Workshop 3 To diagnose the signs and symptoms Prakruti and Vikruti Ayurvedic Concepts of Balance and Imbalance This work shop is designed for those who already have some knowledge of Ayurveda and want to deepen their understanding of Prakruti, one s innate individual nature and Vikruti, one s present (imbalanced) condition in terms of Vata, Pitta and Kapha. We will look deeper into how to understand both one s constitution and present condition and most importantly, how to diagnose the signs and symptoms of imbalance in order to find balance again. Through an underof construction, standing of the subtle, yet powerful natural forces of direction, we gain the ability to live more design and placement in harmony with nature, our environment and the natural laws which govern it. More than just architectural or building principles, Vastu also addresses interior design, color coordination, landscaping and even sculpture and painting, dance and poetry. Come learn some of the fascinating and quickly utilizable principles which have made Vastu an empowering science for greater harmony, prosperity and health for thousands of years.
