13 Flexible Deployment Team deployment is not an all-or-nothing proposition Every incident or planned event does not require full deployment The Team can allocate position-specific players as needed for both planned and unplanned incidents Barnstable County Incident Management Team 13

14 Operational Principles Overall responsibility for any incident will always remain with the Authority Having Jurisdiction The Team will provide support and consultation to Incident Command or Unified Command The Team would assume incident command only by delegation of authority from the local Authority Having Jurisdiction Barnstable County Incident Management Team 14

18 Hurricane Sandy Relief 2012 In November 2012 team members traveled to New York City to assist in relief activities after Hurricane Sandy devastated many coastal communities. Barnstable County Incident Management Team 18

19 February 2013 Blizzard Nemo February 2013 Multi-Agency Coordination Center Joint Base Cape Cod The BCIMT stood up and managed the Barnstable County MACC in cooperation with other civilian and military resources for multiple operational periods. Barnstable County Incident Management Team 19

21 Incident Management Philosophy Incident management is not about who is in charge... It s a way for all responders to work together safely to achieve their objectives. Barnstable County Incident Management Team 21

22 Membership To apply for membership in the BCIMT an applicant will fill out and submit an application and resume. The applicant will be subject to a oneyear probationary period and must meet the following criteria: Must be 18 years of age Must have a valid Massachusetts driver s license Must be willing to have a background and CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) check Must be dedicated and available for monthly meetings, drills, and deployments as set forth in the BCIMT Operational Guidelines Must have or obtain CPR and basic first aid certification Must have completed ICS 100, ICS 200 and ICS 700 (online courses*) *These courses are located at Barnstable County Incident Management Team 22
