1 Propozycja tematów magisterskich związanych z IBM i: 1. IBM Rational Team Concert plug-in for Netbeans (group project realized in UAM) The main idea of the project is to design and implement some functionality of IBM Rational Team Concert Client ( eclipse ) into Netbeans platform. 2. Intrusion Detection in IBM System i IBM i operating systems is called Integrated but is also very safe system itself. This project outlines what you can achieve with System i in space of Intrusion Detection 3. Stored procedures in IBM DB2 IBM DB2 delivers two stored procedures dialects - SQL PL and PL/SQL. The aim of this project is to prepare short training, which describe shortly each dialect to students. 4. Configuring MIT Kerberos with IBM WebSphere Application Server 7.0 for authentication The aim is to configure WAS and MIT Kerberos on Linux so Kerberos is used as a authentication mechanism. 5. Data Mining using InfoSphere Warehouse v9.7 Perform deep analysis of data mining routines and capabilities available in newest version of InfoSphere Warehouse 9.7. Document the features, observations and outages 6. IBM WebSphere Application Server 6.1integration with OpenLDAP as a user registry The aim is to configure WAS 6.1 to use OpenLDAP as a user registry and have roles defined in it 7. Describe how to set up IBM WebSphere Process Server v6.2 with Oracle DB 10g with manageprofiles 64-bit version of WPS and other stack products based on WAS 6.1 doesn't provide graphical tools to set it up (no PMT tool available, only manageprofiles shell). The recent project I was involved in was to set up 64-bit WPS 6.2 with Oracle 10g on 64-bit AIX 6.1. I have made some noted and the aim of the student project would be to create a document with all the gory details of doing it and ensure it does work. 8. AIX Enterprise Edition - using Tivoli tools The goal of this project is to learn all cool possibilities and features of Tivoli tools shipped together with AIX Enterprise Edition. What Tivoli tools are available, how to install and use them, how they can help AIX administrator in everyday work. 9. Using IBM Systems Director to monitor Tivoli Storage Manager IBM Systems Director is monitoring tool for almost all IBM hardware. The goal of this project is to check possibility of monitoring Tivoli Storage Manager backup software by IBM Systems Director and example implementation.

Virtualization of VMware images using iesx Building a stable configuration of an iesx serving images. The system is expected to be used to support TEC with POT authomated distribution. 12. Sametime - GaduGadu integration Aim of the project is to integrate two instant messaging platforms: Lotus Sametime and wellknown polish GaduGadu. Students will deep dive into sametime, sametime gateway, see the integration capabilities, gain experience in java eclipse plugin development and much more Prepare the Work Management on i5/os training Prepare the Work Management on i5/os training 14. Extending functionality of Rational Team Concert (Jazz Platform) The aim of the project is to extend functionality of Rational Team Concert based on Jazz Platform. The purpose of ESI will be creating: 0) Fundamental knowledge about RTC 2.0 1) Process with specified work items 2) Web Application based on PJA for RTC 3) Extentsion for Eclipse Client 15. Modern JDBC drivers for DB2 for IBM i6.1 The goal is to compare DB2 for IBM i JBDC drivers. To outline differences between them and to develop sample Java database programs. 16. Developing integration of FileNet P8 platform with Lotus Quicker and Maximo Extend scope of P8 platform features by implementing connectors to external systems. Project assumes integration of Business Process Management provided by FileNet modules with external features offered by Lotus, Maximo and WebSphere modules. This project is unique and innovational in the aspect of system integration 17. Rational Asset Manager, WebSphere Service Registry and Repository and Tivoli Change and Configuration Management Database integration The aim of this project is to integrate Rational Asset Manager and Tivoli Change and Configuration Management Database. Student will have to check possibility of exchanging data between different solutions and how they cooperate together. The most vital case in this project is to create demo which will show working environment based on both servers. 18. DB2 Stored Procedures Development It is a sub-project of medium-size custom application development project. Database Component is based on DB2, using stored procedures for data manipulation. Goal of this sub-project is to design and develop set of "meta" stored procedures simulating application use of "normal" stored procedures. In result, those "meta" stored procedures can be used to generate test data.

Lotus Workflow as part of SOA strategy Lotus Workflow is a platform for defining and executing document workflows in Lotus Domino environment, that perfectly fits into small and medium customers. Unfortunately, while focusing on SOA and BPM strategy, IBM has left this product behind, no developing new versions for few years. The product is back in play and the goal of the internship will be to integrate it with IBM WebSphere BPM portfolio, to make it part of a SOA story. During the internship, student will have to learng both BPM environments - Lotus Workflow and WebSpehre Process Server tools. The goal will be to evaluate possible integration senarios where using both environments will bring business value. 20. Using InfoSphere Change Data Capture for heterogenous databases synchronization Implement solution to demonstrate InfoSphere CDC features: -realtime/offline replication between heteregenous RDBMS's -integration with ETL tools (DataStage) -deploying event-driven environment (optional) 21. Tivoli Storage Manager for Advance Copy Services Install and configure TSM for Advance Copy Services and integrate it with SVC Copy Services. Provide data protection for IBM DB2 UDB using FlashCopy capabilities. 22. SolidDB for mysql, SolidDB 6 and SolidDB 6.1 for DB2 comparison soliddb is a in-memory relational database that delivers exceptionally fast transaction speeds and always-on data access. The task will let the person to compare three solution prepared by Solid - MySQL engine, stand-alone DBMS - SolidDB 6 and DB2 extender - SolidDB 6.1 (BetaWorks). Demo application will be additional task. 23. Developing integration of FileNet P8 platform with Lotus Quicker, Lotus Forms, Maximo and WPS Extend scope of P8 platform features by implementing connectors to external systems. Project assumes integration of Business Process Management provided by FileNet modules with external features offered by Lotus, Maximo and WebSphere modules. Sametime RTC Gateway & Sametime Connect integration with SIP Communicator Integrating ST RTC Gateway and Connect client with SIP Communicator 25. Network device simulator for use with Tivoli Network Manager IP Goal of the project is creating a suite of tools that: - sniff and record SNMP conversation between a poller (Network Manager) and a network device - support editing of recorded conversation - simulate a network device in SNMP conversation, based on a previously recorded conversation 26. IBM WebSphere Business Services Fabric evaluation Describe what it is for and how it could be used in SOA project. Some possible integrations with other IBM BPM products guidelines described too.

Business mediation development with IBM WebSphere ESB The aim of this project is to evaluate IBM WebSphere ESB features and create a couple of sample (and very simple) mediation to show WESB in action. 28. Lotus Quickr integration with Lotus Workflow Lotus Quickr is a modern solution for document management with simple workflow features. When one needs to implement complex document processing, there is a need of leveraging additional dedicated products. Lotus Workflow seems to be the one, but there is no simple and effective integration comming out of the box,... yet. 29. Simulating and monitoring Lotus Domino workload using Server.Load tool and Domino monitoring capabilities Preparing Lotus Notes Domino infrastructure for simulated workload testing. Development of customized Domino workload scenarios using Server.Load tool. Running tests using developed scenarios on different Domino configurations, e.g. R7 vs. R8 release, Windows vs. Linux platform, traditional NSF vs. DB2 storage, usage of some performance tuning techniques. NHibernate data access for DB2 NHibernate is data access platform provided for NET environment and focused on simplifying the tasks of developing and managing database applications. The task will let the person to prepare simple application using Nhibernate 33. Archive and content management application for Lublin Philharmonic Person have to prepare application for Henryk Wieniawski Lublin Philharmonic. It will based on DB2 with purexml technology, WebSphere Application Server CE. Person will use Rational portfolio for collect client requirements and project management., preparing architecture or application developing and testing. 34. Analysis of WebSphere smash Web 2.0 application platform Main idea is to prepare a analysis of WebSphere smash Web 2.0 platform to see how this solution is easy to use, functional and can be use to rapidly develop example solution. Analysis can be based on selected criteria set. Short programming project should be used as an example. 35. Automatic TBSM service model generation from ITM Practical implementation of an automatic creation of the service models from the DLA book Tivoli Business Service Management component-xml toolkit can be used for the integration of monitored devices from other Tivoli or 3rd party monitoring and CCMDB systems. The task of this project will be to understand, realize and describe the integration of ITM monitored devices and metrics into the TBSM. 36. Comparison of IBM & Microsoft licensing models for Middleware Microsoft licensing model for middleware is very complicated. MS Enterprise Agreement plays key role in this. Goal would be to research MS approach to licensing middleware in Poland, compare those approach to IBM licensing model and to compare those models in several real cases.

5 37. TotalStorage Productivity Center suite: components, architecture, features and functions. The goal is to learn, describe and present to the audience different components of TPC suite. Learning could include some live testing, if possible (limited hardware available). 38. Comparative analysis of selected Web 2.0 application platform Main idea is to prepare a analysis of selected Web 2.0 platform such as: IBM WAS CE, IBM WebSphere smash, may be Adobe Flex or Ajax.NET to see how those platforms are easy to use, functional and can be use to rapidly develop example solution. Analysis can be based on selected criteria set. Short programming project should be used as an example. 39. How to startup Lotus Quick opportunity The goal is to prepare "cookbook" for starting up Lotus Quickr at customer place: define what should be done, what places should be initially crated, what groups od people could be involved in pilot, etc. I addition collect all bugs or inconsistenes during Quickr testing as well as all ideas for improvement. 40. Software Engineering with the Jazz platform and Rational tools Main idea is to prepare a case study with Jazz platform (Rational Team Concert) and other Rational Software Development Tools (like RSA, RAD, ReqPro, etc) to see how those tools cooperate together, and what are the steps co configure them properly. Short programing project should be used as a example on which the case will be build. 41. IBM WebSphere Process Server 6.1's note and noteworthy Describe and demonstrate the changes of IBM WebSphere Process Server 6.1 with their sample applications. 42. Team in Concert review Short overview from polish developer point of view of new product - Rational Team in Concert (RTC). RTC is new platform for development teams working on software project. 43. SOA modeling using RSA The goal of the project is to apply SOA extenstions for Rational Software Architect in the real case scenario of Service Oriented Architecture modeling and model transformation. 44. Developing workflow applications in Lotus Domino/Notes Lotus Notes Domino is IBM environment for creating and running collaborative and groupware solutions. Development environment is based on formula and lotusscript language. Most of application is done using RAD tool - Lotus Designer. During the internship student will learn Domino and Notes environment and learn how to develop applications in Lotus Designer 45. SOA governance usig WSRR The goal of the project is to implement SOA goverance processes in WebSphere Registry and Repository as well as design principles for managing non-wsdl artefacts (e.g. broker flows and subflows) by extending WSRR.

Methodology for functional and performance testing of business processes implemented with IBM WebSphere Process Server Propose and describe methodology for automated functional testing on unit testing basis of long-running business processes implemented with WebSphere Integration Developer and running on WebSphere Process Server. The methodology should be as much automated as possible. Use and describe WebSphere Integration Developer V6.1 which provides new features in testing area which were missing in previous versions. Describe common specifics of testing long-running processes. Illustrate the methodology using demo process containing Human Task and call to simulated back-end. Option: Describe methodology for performance testing of long-running processes via WebServices and SoapUI tool. 47. Examples and methodology for using Lotus Quickr as a team collaboration tool in company Discover this new product capabilities, expecially with focus on easy and fast deploy in a company. Explore, try and document steps how to customize Lotus Qucikr - examples: - how to develop own skin aligned with corporate identity - hot to create different types of documents, use workflow,... Prepare methodology (some kind of best practises or recommendations) for fast solution deployment, creating first recommended Team Places, etc. 48. DB2 Database Administration/SQL course for University/Buiness Partners Get familiar with DB2 database, its administrations and SQL usage with DB On-line payments integration in e-commerce Every on-line shop needs some kind of payment methods to be handled to run a business. IBM WebSphere Commerce provides a payment plugin framework - which defines how to build plugins for different payment providers, but don't provide any plugin for local providers in CEMAAS. The goal of the project will be to prepare a payment plugin enabling WebSphere Comerce to process payments though selected payment provider in your country. (this project can be offered multiple times) 50. FileNet P8 workflow proces for univerzity procurement and analysis of roles/delegations Student has to analyze the proces of procurement at the VSB university and deploy this process into FileNet P8. Also he has to elaborate an document analyzing the setting up of roles and delegations for the document workflow.

7 51. Websphere Business Monitor connectivity to Googlemaps Connectivity of WS Business Monitor to Googlemaps. Using the feature available in an API of Googlemaps, where event in monitor supplies information to Googlemaps (e.g. customer place from invoice) and Googlemaps then show this information (e.g. the places where customers are from) 52. Compare DB2 and NSF performance in LN8 Use large notes database ( entries) to compare the performance of LN8 with DB2 as a repository opposed to standard NSF repository. 53. Building J2EE Applications using DB2, RAD and WAS The goal is to generated a one week training course, to develop a J2EE application, using Rational Application Developer, DB2 and WebSphere Application Server. Gaining the integration skills to manipulate each product at a intermediate level, and giving the insights of the J2EE architecture and components, having hands on lab for each major topic. 55. Eclipse RCP mastering and creating demo based on IBM software During this internship student will learn more about Eclipse RCP and IBM Expeditor. Goal is to create system with Rich client applications in Eclipse RCP(Lotus Expeditor) which are able to connect with back end application. 59. Domino Development and corporate design standards Project will consist 2 parts: 1 - part is to learn Domino environment and development techniques. Based on these skills student will create a sample database. 2 - the goal would be to investigate the process and tools of evaluating custom design template to be published in IBM network. Based on this knowledge student will process sample database and bring it online in IBM network.
