1 Brian Jamieson South Harbour Consulting Limited Abstract Brian is a Principal Consultant, and Managing Director, for South Harbour Consulting Ltd, a new Falkland Islands company. Brian has been an I.T. consultant working for both the public and private sectors for over 20 years. His clients have included ABB, Barclays Bank, Abbey/Santander, OKI Electronics, Powergen, ExxonMobil, William Grant & Sons, Sir Robert McAlpine, Hewlett-Packard, Price Waterhouse Coopers, and IBM. UK Government clients have included Oxford, Surrey and Brent County Councils, H.M. Land Registry, and the Department of Trade and Industry. Brian s business solutions have occupied intranet, extranet, b2b and b2c niches. Brian s core role is as a Technical Architect, responsible for guiding and developing technical teams, as well as taking ownership of technical designs and overall project direction. Brian has developed a reputation for creating and delivering both novel and elegant solutions for difficult business problems, carrying out 'proof-of-concept' work and presenting solutions in front of Director level audiences. Brian's knowledge and experience of different hardware platforms has seen him working on diverse systems such as zo/s, iseries, Sun Solaris, IBM AIX, SUSE Linux, Red Hat Linux and Windows. Brian has significant experience covering Domino, Websphere Portal Server, Lotus Quickr (J2EE version), Lotus Connections, DB2 Content Manager, Document Manager and Records Manager offerings, and Websphere Product Centre (formally Trigo). With standard office software such as Microsoft Word and Excel, Brian has created sophisticated applications making use of the integrated scripting environment offered by Visual Basic. Brian s database experience includes working with DB2, Oracle and mysql, on a variety of platforms. Brian s role has included writing and hosting technical training courses for MS FoxPro, MS Excel, Lotus and Lotus Notes aimed at both end-user and developer level courses.

F OR IBM: C ONNECTIONS T ECHNICAL A RCHITECT Creation and Integration of Portal and Connections by developing common themes and skins with a portal for a pilot project for the Department of Work and Pensions. O N BEHALF OF BT: N ETWORKR AIL: P ORTAL / Q UICKR T ECHNICAL A RCHITECT Portal and Quickr installation for Intranet Proof of Concept. Brian worked as part of a multidisciplinary team brought together to assist Network Rail in the basic design and implementation of their WebSphere Portal based intranet. As part of the installation process, Brian created a fully automated installation routine for a clustered Lotus Connections environment. P RICE W ATERHOUSE C OOPERS: P ORTAL / Q UICKR T ECHNICAL A RCHITECT Provide deployment assistance for worldwide internal PWC Quickr build processes Create robust end-user documentation on the process to follow to install Lotus Quickr (J2EE) into a clustered WebSphere environment. Assist in enhancing the existing core build and supplying advice on additional configuration areas. Including: o Advice on Virtual portals o Advice on Web Content Management o Advice on Portal Data life cycle management o Actual configuration of WMM to support multiple directories The client has requested Brian return, to assist them with further work. O N BEHALF OF IBM: J OHN LEWIS PARTNERSHIP: P RODUCT I NFORMATION M ANAGEMENT ( PIM) SOLUTION Implementation of first phase of JLP-PIM system for EHT (Electrical Home & Technology) side of the business, comprising various processes involving product introduction, enrichment and information feed to other systems. Hands-on involvement in design, development and deployment. Customizing and adding functionality around the out of box solution using custom screens, import/export scripts, libraries, workflows and collaboration areas. O N BEHALF OF IBM: A BBEY N ATIONAL/SANTANDER DB2 D OCUMENT M ANAGEMENT S YSTEM Abbey required a new infrastructure to handle their now digital Mortgage Application documents, submitted from all over the UK. The system had to be able to demonstrate its ability to scale and handle the projected document handling loads. Brian was involved principally in the installation, configuration and scaling processes which proved the system prior to it's go live.

4 OKI E UROPE: OASIS V 1 THROUGH TO V3 Brian was the Technical Design Authority, and lead in a team of four consultants for the OASIS project at OKI. OASIS was designed to allow OKI's world wide technical support staff the freedom to log printer 'failure' records, and subsequent usage of spare parts to correct the faults. The basic system had to integrate extremely tightly with OKI's SAP systems, and the head office's Domino system. OASIS had some key requirements; to support a world-wide multi-lingual audience, to carry out product, item and spare part searches in real time against OKI's SAP database systems and to store the resolved 'failures' in SAP, to allow for financial transactions relating to warranty repairs to be triggered. Designed and implemented the changes necessary to allow OASIS to operate under and take advantage of the Domino R6 platform. Migration of middleware utilities from DECS to programmatic LEI agents. QAS address search facility (Java Servlet utilising QAS QuickSearch API) re-written with more sophisticated search parameters, while being rationalised and moved into the control of the native domino Servlet manager. Extend the reach of Oasis by allowing third parties to submit returns to the system via XML or CSV documents. Extended the SAP connectivity to allow calls to remain open and editable while parts are allocated for repairs. Extensive SAP connectivity realised by combining LotusScript agents with the LEI LSXLC objects. Custom SAP RFCs commissioned, designed and developed to allow real-time searching for equipment, products and parts details. PPL: CAM V 2 PPL licenses sound recordings and music videos for use in broadcast, public performance and new media. Brian was asked to examine and report on an existing bespoke system that had extremely poor performance. A presentation and report to the IT management of PPL led to a project that re-wrote the tool from the ground up whilst keeping the known and familiar interface in place. Brian designed the new application, and led a team that rebuilt the CAM application. The development was based on a combination of domino, iseries RPG programming, lotus LEI integration and complex bespoke SQL stored procedures. The application streamlining centered around consolidation of domino processes, consolidation of views and lookup indexes, consolidation of script libraries and consolidation of database functionality. Connectivity between the 'green screen' RPG application and Domino was completely revised, as was the LEI integration. S IR R OBERT M C A LPINE: DWA, DR AND HA I NTRANET I NFRASTRUCTURE SRM required high level consultation and simple proof-of-concept work for a domino based infrastructure which included both high availability and disaster recovery facilities. Re-theming and skinning the Domino Web Access application was also carried out in order to integrate with the look and feel of the rest of the SRM intranet. W ILLIAM G RANT & S ONS: I NTRANET Brian was asked to lead a consultation and development effort at Grants to realise two main business requirements; the design and implementation of complex internal workflows used to manage and coordinate the development of marketing and packaging materiels, and to mentor internal Grants staff in

5 domino web development, DECS and LEI integration, and the development and use of complex DB2 stored procedures hosted on iseries. Brian created a novel workflow process which allowed one or more of several 'child' workflows to stem from a 'parent' workflow. Brian mentored Grants staff in the creation of Domino 'web' applications, Domino Workflow applications and the creation and use of advanced DB2 stored procedures for LEI and DECS. P OWERGEN: D OCUMENT L IBRARY & A CTIONS W ORKFLOW Powergen wanted to store 'process' documentation in an easily accessible document library with the ability to trigger 'Actions' from the documents. For example, a Health & Safety document required warehouse managers to carry out a set of tasks. The workflows were effectively unknown, and a decision was made to create a unique recursive workflow process using Domino Workflow. This unique Domino Workflow application remains in use several years after it was developed. Brian had to design a unique workflow process for Powergen. After coming up with the design, prototyping it, presenting the solution to the key Powergen stake-holders, the design was accepted, implemented and delivered on time and to budget.
