Under Available Profiles click on your profile and click the + tab 5. There are two separate ways to gather results, Use Keywords or Use Topic(s) Use Keywords This tab drills down into the overall results. Teaching & Learning Services ithelp@clemson.edu August 2012 Page 1 of 28
For instance, if my profile had gathered one million results in the past month I could use the Use Keyword tab and type in help. Then out the one million posts that have been gathered it will create another report from those that contain help. To be more specific, it can also create a report on how many post included a particular word in a single keyword group. 1. Click on the New Topic Analysis widget on the left side of the screen. The Topic Analysis Configuration box will open. 2. Click on the desired profile from the Available Profiles list and select Use Keywords. 3. Directly below type a word in the box and click Add Query. This word will be the title of this particular portion of the bar/pie chart. It does not matter if this word is the word you are gathering results on. 4. The Query Builder box will open. The word previously typed in will appear. If this is not the word you would like to gather results for erase it and type in the desired word. 5. If you would like the results for this section to include two words click on the plus (+) tab located beside the word. 6. Click on the down arrow beside AND. Two options will be given AND / OR. AND will only pull results from posts that contain both of the words, whereas OR will gather results where either word is present. Teaching & Learning Services ithelp@clemson.edu August 2012 Page 2 of 28
7. The box beside post content gives two options contains and does not contain. 8. Type in the second keyword in the next box and click Add Query. In the example above, only posts that contain both dorm and roommate will be included in this portion of the results. 9. Results can also be gathered from a particular keyword group. Type in a word and click Add Query. Remember: the word typed here will appear as the title for this section on the pie/bar charts. 10. The Query Builder will open. Click on the Keywords tab and change the word according to what you would like results to be gathered. Teaching & Learning Services ithelp@clemson.edu August 2012 Page 3 of 28
For example, Bryan Mall (as shown two photos above) was entered as the title. After selecting Add Query Bryan Mall was erased and Lever was added. Now, the results will be gathered according to the keyword Lever. 11. Click on the Keyword Groups tab and select one of your keyword groups from the dropdown tab and click Add Query. Now, this section of the report will include only posts pertaining to the keyword group selected, Bryan Mall, that contain the word Lever. As shown in the photo above, CCIT Training1 / Bryan Mall, the first word will be the topic profile name (CCIT Training1) and the second is the keyword group name (Bryan Mall). 12. To gather results on additional sections or topics repeat this process. 13. Real Time Monitoring give the options of how many days will be included in the results. By clicking 30 Days Ago results will be gathered from the past 30 days. 8. Specify Date Range is more customizable and can gather results from specific dates. Teaching & Learning Services ithelp@clemson.edu August 2012 Page 4 of 28
For example, results will include content from October 10, 2012 until November 10, Media types are listed at the bottom of the widget. If the box is checked then information will be pulled from that media source and will be included in the results. For example, if a large portion of the results had been from Amazon or ebay, unselect the Buy/Sell box and they will no longer be included in the results. 10. Select Done 11. A pie or bar chart will appear. In the pie chart view, the percentage listed beside each group is the ratio of how many post pertain to that section. 12. In the bottom right hand corner are two tabs Bar and Pie in which the results can be displayed. Teaching & Learning Services ithelp@clemson.edu August 2012 Page 5 of 28
13. Click on the Bar tab and a bar graph will appear. The length of the bars illustrates the volume for each group. For example, The Shoeboxes has brought in a lot more results than Bryan Mall or Stadium Suites. 14. Left click on one of the bars and a list of options will appear that allow further results to be gathered. It is important to recognize that these results will only be based off of the selected bar. In this example, I left clicked on the bar The Shoeboxes. Therefore, if I click on View By Media Type the results will only include media types used for The Shoeboxes. Teaching & Learning Services ithelp@clemson.edu August 2012 Page 6 of 28
From the drop down list, select View by Sentiment Topic Profile Sentiment Subjects. Another chart will appear with sentiment results for the selected section. By left clicking on one of the bars more results can be gathered. 15. At the top of each box there are two tabs, Segment by: No Segmentation and Count by: Number of Posts. Click these tabs and a list of options will appear. Once selected, the graph will change accordingly. Use Topic(s) This tab takes the Keyword Groups previously created in the keyword section and allows you to gather results for that particular group(s). The advantage to using the Use Topic(s) is that when gathering results it automatically uses the keywords that have already been entered in the selected keyword group. 1. On the left hand side of the screen click the New Topic Analysis icon and select the desired profile from the Available Profiles list. 2. Click Use Topic(s). Teaching & Learning Services ithelp@clemson.edu August 2012 Page 7 of 28
3. On the right side of the screen make sure the box beside Display keyword groups organized by the group type(s) below is checked. 4. The section beneath that will contain up to three different words: Competitors, Brands, or Industry. Previously, when the profile s keywords were created there was an option of creating multiple Keyword Groups and classifying them as competitors, brands, or industry. Depending on how they were previously classified is how they are now listed. If you have forgotten how you classified the keyword groups click on Configuration, select your topic profile, click Keywords and Keyword Group, click on one of the keyword groups listed under Choose / Create Keyword Group and look to the right under Choose a Group Type. The classification will appear. 5. To gather results for a keyword group check box beside the matching group type. 6. Real Time Monitoring give the options of how many days will be included in the results. By clicking 30 Days Ago results will be gathered from the past 30 days. 7. Specify Date Range is more customizable and can gather results from specific dates. For example, results will include content from October 10, 2012 until November 10, Teaching & Learning Services ithelp@clemson.edu August 2012 Page 8 of 28
8. Media types are listed at the bottom of the widget. If the box is checked then information will be pulled from that media source and will be included in the results. For example, if a large portion of the results had been from Amazon or ebay, unselect the Buy/Sell box and they will no longer be included in the results. 9. Select Done 10. Gathering results can now be done in the same manner as listed above. However, there is one type of report that can be gathered only by using the Use Topic(s) approach. a. When the graph appears click on the Bar tab in the lower left corner. b. Click on the bar icon in the lower right corner and select Show % Change. c. Another bar graph will appear on the right side. This graph illustrates if there has been an increase or decrease in the number of posts about and by how much. The date range is listed beneath each graph. To return to a single graph click on the bar icon and choose Hide % Change. Teaching & Learning Services ithelp@clemson.edu August 2012 Page 9 of 28
11. For example, the above graph shows that there has been a large increase in the number of online posts pertaining to the section Industry. The first two bars, Brands and Competitors, have a bar going the opposite way with a negative number, this indicates a decrease in the number of posts about the groups. There are two ways to create the topic analysis results based off of creating and entering keywords or using the keywords already entered in the Configuration settings. a. USE KEYWORDS By selecting Use Keywords the option of entering specific keyword(s) is given. You are able to select which keywords you would like to use (not necessarily every keyword entered in the Configuration setting) b. USE TOPIC(S) By clicking Use Topics all of the keywords already entered (under Configuration and keywords) are used in the results. Teaching & Learning Services ithelp@clemson.edu August 2012 Page 10 of 28
19. The results will appear in a bar graph or pie graph. By clicking on the PIE or BAR button at the bottom left hand corner you can view the results in either format a. SEGMENT BY: in the top left hand corner click on Segment By: to sort the results in several different methods. COUNT BY: this tab Teaching & Learning Services ithelp@clemson.edu August 2012 Page 11 of 28
20. To find out more information, click on any section of the graph. A list of further reports appears allowing you to run more detailed reports. For example,. 21. 13 The SUBJECT text box will show as the subject for the e- mail and the INTRODUCTION will be the body of the e- mail. The introduction is a great place if you would like to point something out and discuss it. Click SEND. The results (bar or pie graph) have now been ed. 15 2. Keywords *** click DONE 3. A box will appear with tabs labeled summary, blogs, videos, images, mainstream news, twitter, and forums/replies. The results appear with the summary tab open. This tab lists the top five influencers within each media type. The other tabs are more specific for individual media types. There are three separate ways to view the results listed in the bottom left hand corner: BAR, CLOUD and GRID. BAR the bar view appears first automatically. By scrolling over a bar you can view that influencers details such as, the comment count, the number of unique commenters, and number of on topic posts that gave the influencer their score. You Teaching & Learning Services ithelp@clemson.edu August 2012 Page 15 of 28
cannot export the results under the BAR view but you can click on the bar to view a complete river of news analysis for that influencer. CLOUD the cloud view uses font size and color to show the source names of the top influencers (their twitter handle or blog name). The size of the font is determined by the influencer s score, the higher the score the larger the font size. The color scale is located on the configuration side of the influencer widget. If you scroll over the source name you can view the statistics for that source. If you click on the name a river of news will open for that influencer. GRID the gird view contains the same information but is listed in an excel like format. The grid tab is only available in the individual media types, not in the summary tab. The top influencers are listed by their according to their automatic assigned score. If you feel an influencer is more active than their assigned score you can change the order by scrolling over the influencer and clicking on the arrows. You can rearrange the results by clicking on one of the columns in the header. The on topic inbound links help identify your top influential sources. For the influencers who have an on topic inbound link connecting them you can double clicking on the influencer s title to view who is connected to who. To open a River of News analysis for multiple influencers go to the bottom of the screen and choose the number of influencers you would like the results to contain and then click VIEW POSTS. 18 At the top you can choose to be alerted daily or as results happen. The as results happen is very useful during crisis management situations, if you only want to be alerted once a day select the daily option. Next to STATUS you can choose to enable or disable your alerts. Click SAVE and now a yellow triangle will appear in the top right hand corner. 24 Excel Ad- ins The Excel Ad- in portion is only compatible with MS Excel 2007 and 2010 running on Windows XP, Vista, or Go to the radian6 website 2. Click on WHAT WE SELL 3. Click on API & EXTENSIONS 4. Go to EXCEL ADD- IN and click DOWNLOAD NOW. To download the Ad- in you cannot have excel running. 5. Click on the blue hyperlink DOWNLOAD HERE 6. Download and unzip the file Teaching & Learning Services August 2012 Page 24 of 28
7. Run setup.exe and then click accept at each prompt 8. After the installation is completed open excel and click on the Add- Ins tab 9. Click on OPTIONS in the right hand corner and chose SIGN IN 10. Sign in with your Radian6 credentials (your same username and password) and click OK 11. Once signed in you can see the dropdown list of dashboards in the top left hand corner. These are dashboards you have created in Radian6. This is where the importance of naming your dashboards comes into place because at this point you cannot actually see the dashboards. A good approach to doing this is to determine what dashboard you want to generate reports on and then identify the widgets in it you want to import data from. You can add new dashboards by clicking on the plus (+) symbol located at the top of the screen beside the gear icon. You can give the dashboard a name by clicking on the gear icon beside the plus (+) symbol and clicking on RENAME DASHBOARD. This will help you avoid confusion when selecting the widgets for your reports. Teaching & Learning Services ithelp@clemson.edu August 2012 Page 25 of 28
12. Select a dashboard then in the tab beside WIDGET a dropdown list will appear with all of the widgets you have open on that dashboard, even if they are minimized. The name of the widget appears along with what type of widget it is. 13. To create a report, chose a dashboard and widget then click IMPORT DATA 14. The data you get depends on the type of widget you are importing. For example, the River of News widget can have thousands of posts, however excel limits the results the last 1,000 post. Teaching & Learning Services ithelp@clemson.edu August 2012 Page 26 of 28
15. The report you ve created is a data spreadsheet and includes rows and columns of information. 16. To reorganize the data go to the top of the screen and click on INSERT and then PIVOT TABLE 17. At the right of the table is the PIVOT TABLE FIELD LIST this is where you choose fields in which to arrange the data, creating the rows and columns. The field options will depend on which widget you have selected. 18. Create your table by choosing a field (e.g. Keyword) and dragging it to the ROW LABELS field below. Now, each row will have a keyword as its label. Drag label into the COLUMN LABELS field so each column will include a label. You can build the table creating numerous columns and rows. If you would like count totals drag counts to SUM VALUES. This creates a row below the counts adding them up. You can scroll over any number in the table to get more information about it. 19. If you make any changes to your widgets in Radian6 simply go back into Excel and click the refresh button beside options (location described in number 9) and an entirely updated pivot table with results is created. 20. To create graphs at the top of the screen beside ADD- INS click on DESIGN 21. In the DESIGN tab, click on the Summarize with PivotTable option. This will create a new worksheet and automatically navigate you there. 22. In the PivotTable Fields box on the right- hand side of the screen, select the DATE and COUNT boxes. This will create a table excluding the WORD column. 23. Select those two columns that were created in the previous step and navigate to the INSERT tab. Select whichever kind of chart you wish to use to display your data. 24. Format the chart however you wish. Teaching & Learning Services ithelp@clemson.edu August 2012 Page 27 of 28
