2 Software Loading Software loading for use with a standalone Xitron RIP For full details see the Xenith - Installation Manual The latest version of this manual can be obtained from the Xitron website at

3 Software Loading - Upgrading To Xitron Suite Release 6 If upgrading from Xenith v4.2 or below the correct procedure for installing Xenith Release 6 is to first uninstall the existing software and then perform a clean installation of the new software If upgrading from Xenith v5.0 then first upgrade to Xenith v5.3, followed by Xenith Release 6 Note - Where possible perform a clean installation If upgrading from Xenith v5.15 or v5.3, load Xenith 6.03 over the existing installation (upgraded), then install the patch Note - When possible, perform a clean installation NOTE - Xitron 6.1 is a chargeable upgrade. Therefore, a new license is required to upgrade any version before 6.01

4 Software Loading - Installing The Dongle Load the Xitron RIP before installing the dongle in order to ensure that the correct driver is used Note - If the Xitron dongle is attached to the PC before the Xitron software is loaded the Windows OS attempts to install its own driver If the Windows driver is installed Xenith may not run correctly Xenith may hang on start up Jobs may hang Some Xenith processes may continually occupy 50%CPU time All installation must be done from an Administrator user All persons connecting to the Xenith Server need read and write privileges, or Administrative privileges After loading the Xitron RIP software install the supplied dongle on the PC Shut down the PC Insert dongle Power up the PC

5 Software Loading - Location Software location Windows XP Pro or 2003 Server operating system - C Drive Xenith RIP - X Drive Raster Blaster - R Drive Page-file and Xitron storage - X Drive

6 Software Loading - Installation Loading Xitron RIP software Insert CD and wait for the install sequence to start

7 Software Loading - Installation Loading Xitron RIP software Enter the License codes to unlock the specific capabilities purchased with the Xenith bundle If the codes are presented in a text document they can be copied pasted as the whole group

8 Software Loading - Xitron RIP Installation Xenith Base Bundles Select the bundle purchased

9 Software Loading - Bundle Selection Xenith Engine Bundles If driving any of the engines that Xenith supports directly, install then now

10 Software Loading - Installation Path Xenith Installation Path NOTE - The installer s default path is always the C:\ drive. Change to X:\ drive as Xitron SOP dictates

11 Software Loading - Installation Path Confirmation Confirm the correct install path before applying

12 Software Loading - Installation Process Installer asks for confirmation of the specific Store Locations then installs components

13 Software Loading - Successful Installation Finish the Program Installation. Restart the computer

14 Software Loading - Loading the Patches The current build of Xenith requires the installation of two additional patches to be fully functional. These additional patches are found on the Xenith Client and Server Packs disk. The service packs are presented as ISOs and can be accessed after the separate application Daemon Tools is installed or the ISO can be burned to CD and installed through the component installer in the Xenith Utilities If a Xenith bundle was ordered, or if a platform was purchased with the Xenith system, the software should already be loaded and these steps will not be needed. The Xenith Windows client also requires patch 4_2-3 (also called Service Pack release V ).

15 Software Loading - Load DAEMON Tools Install the Xenith Server Patches CD and exit the Installer Wizard screens if they appear

16 Software Loading - Load DAEMON Tools From the Xenith Server Patches directory, drag the Daemon Tools.exe to your desktop and double click the icon Drag to desktop

17 Software Loading - Load DAEMON Tools All three are checked by default. Deselect the top two since they will also load unwanted advertising

19 Software Loading - Load DAEMON Tools Once the install is complete, Daemon Tools is used to mount the two ISO images containing the patches

20 Software Loading - Load DAEMON Tools Once the install is complete, launch the application and point to the newly-mounted virtual drive Application Virtual Drive

21 Software Loading - Load First Patch Select the correct patch for installation Load patch 4_2-2 first

22 Software Loading - Load First Patch OK through welcome and install screens, Select the correct bundle for installation

23 Software Loading - Load First Patch Confirm the installation path is correct

24 Software Loading - Load First Patch Select Finish to exit the first patch installer

25 Software Loading - Load Second Patch Unmount the first Virtual drive before mounting the Second

26 Software Loading - Load Second Patch Select the correct patch for installation Load patch 4_2-3 second

27 Software Loading - Load Second Patch Make sure both the Service Pack and the Windows Client are selected for installation

28 Software Loading - Load Second Patch Confirm the installation path is correct

29 Software Loading - Load Second Patch Confirm that the installation path is correct Select Finish to exit the second patch installer

30 Software Loading - Confirming Patch Installations To verify if the patches have been loaded correctly Access the License Tool Verify in Components Verify
