The IntelleView POS application runs on a Microsoft Windows NT computer, which connects to the customer s POS system network via an Ethernet or token-ring LAN (local area network) connection. IntelleView can also connect to the customer's corporate LAN through a separate Ethernet adapter to allow remote access. Sensormatic of 18

2 System Components The basic IntelleView POS system consists of the following hardware and software components: Computer, keyboard, and mouse Intellex digital video recorder and mouse Uninterruptible power supply Sybase database software Intellex API software IntelleView server and client software Optional equipment may include: Additional Intellex recorders Printer and printer cable VCR (Video Cassette Recorder) Video monitor for IntelleView computer Video monitor for Intellex recorders Video monitor for VCR The IntelleView POS computer contains an integrated Ethernet port on the motherboard for the Intellex or corporate LAN connection, a Video card, a modem card, and an Ethernet card for the POS network connection. If required, it also contains a token-ring card for the POS network connection. Additional network components may be required, depending on the customer s POS system network. For installations having multiple Intellex recorders, an Ethernet hub is provided. If remote access is required, the customer must provide a hub or switch to connect the IntelleView computer and Intellex recorders to the customer's corporate LAN. The customer must also provide static IP address information for the IntelleView computer and for each Intellex recorder. Hardware Installation This section describes how to install the IntelleView POS components. The IntelleView POS computer is shipped to the customer site with all customerspecific network hardware and software preinstalled and initially configured. Before You Begin Verify that you have all the equipment. Verify that the equipment is the right configuration for the store. Be organized. Do not clutter traffic areas or cause a safety hazard.
