After working as an architect in London, Milan and Padova, in 2008 Laura founded Superlandscape, an urban, landscape and architecture firm. Her work primarily deals with the relationship between infrastructure and landscape. She is an expert in sustainable landscape design of airports and she consulted for the Veneto Region on the Strategic Plan for Venice airport-city. She regularly attends conferences on the topic in academic and professional environments and has published her research in several books: Ecological Airport Urbanism: Airports and Landscapes in the Italian Northeast (Trento: Trento University, 2012); Airport Urbanism. Abstract: In the last decade low-cost airports are physically and socially affecting the European territory. This course of studies was entirely sponsored by a well-known Italian grant ( Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Venezia CARIVE ) in conjunction with Venice University. Guidelines for Sustainable Design. Starting from best practices and case studies, the research aims to investigate urban, landscape and environmental impacts of airport infrastructures. The airports and landscape of northeastern Italy extending from the Po Valley to the Alps will be analyzed in detail, finally proposing alternative scenarios of landscape transformations. Alternative Futures for the Roncajette Park and the Industrial Zone l Harvard University l Cambridge (MA) l Padova l ITALY The project is the result of a collaboration between Harvard University, Padova City Council and Padova Industrial Zone (ZIP). Under the supervision of Prof. Carl Steinitz, I organized and developed a two- year research project on one of the largest and most significant industrial landscapes in northern Italy. The project dealt with the design of a wide area in the city of Padova that included 1050 hectares of industrial zone and 190

6 hectares of green areas (the so-called Roncajette park). The work primarily focused on water treatment systems and sought to promote a green industrial park connected to Padova and the surrounding region QUAP l Qualità Urbanistica delle Aree Produttive l Urban Quality of Industrial Areas l Treviso l ITALY The work sponsored by Treviso Province and by the Treviso Industrial Association analyzed the industrial districts within t h e p r o v i n c e o f Treviso, one of the most industrialized regional areas in Italy, and sought to propose green and urban strategies for industrial sites. Since no studies or analysis had been conducted on the research site, the two-year research project required a substantial on-site investigation, as it was the first attempt at mapping, analyzing, surveying and finally proposing intervention on scattered industrial zones of the region.
