Improve your workplace effectiveness through continuing professional education Each year, thousands of professionals improve their workplace effectiveness through UofL s Delphi Center for Teaching and Learning. Annually, the Delphi Center offers approximately 150 seminars to individuals and corporate clients. All seminars are developed and updated based on critical workplace competencies that include: Written and interpersonal communication Organization and productivity Critical thinking Management and leadership Project management Coaching and motivation Purchasing and supply chain management Human resource management The Delphi Center also hosts a variety of lifelong learning courses. Danny McGrath TURN WORK LEARNING INTO A COLLEGE DEGREE The university s Department of Leadership, Foundations and Human Resource (ELFH) offers a Bachelor of Science in Workforce Leadership. The degree is designed for working adults with college credits and five years of extensive industry training. Do you possess five years of extensive work experience or industry training? Do you have some college or an associate s degree? Are you a leader in the workforce or military? Do you want the flexibility of completing your degree online or in the classroom? Workforce Leadership student Completing a bachelor s degree in Workforce Leadership could open the door for new opportunities in your current field, or even a new career. The Workplace Performance concentration focuses on the design, delivery and evaluation of job-related training and workplace performance metrics as well as skills for managing organizational change and human resource projects and functions. The program curriculum is offered online or in the classroom off campus. The degree program requires a minimum of 123 credit hours. College graduates see a return on their investments of time and money including more career options, better promotional opportunities, higher earnings, personal achievement and lower unemployment. One unique component of this program is the ability for students to earn up to 48 credit hours at no cost from documented workplace learning, military training, etc., into a prior learning assessment portfolio. 5 Additional Benefits Transfer and credit by exam PROJECT GRADUATE: FINISH THE DEGREE YOU STARTED Project Graduate, an initiative by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, is for students who have completed 90 or more college credit hours but did not receive a degree. The program is designed to help former students return to school and get back on the graduation track. Whether you want to get a pay increase, start a new career, or simply finish something you started, a college degree can help. The University of Louisville will: Waive your application fee Provide one-on-one admissions, financial aid and career counseling Fast-track the application process / projectgraduate. CONTINUING STUDIES: ADVANCE YOUR COLLEGE EDUCATION AS AN ADULT STUDENT Continuing studies is a nondegree-granting unit for adult students who want to begin or return to college as part-time students. Academic advisers work closely with students to help them become eligible to transfer to a degree-granting unit by completing required courses. PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS: u 25 years-of-age v High school graduate or GED completion No application fee or transcript is required. To learn more, visit reach. louisville.edu/cont-studies or call SENIOR CITIZEN TUITION BENEFIT UofL offers tuition remission to individuals who are Kentucky residents and are at least 65 years-of-age on, or before, the first day of classes for the semester. Special costs, such as course fees and parking, are not covered by this program. Proof of age may be shown by presenting a driver s license or other age verification document at the Bursar s Office. THE HONORS PROGRAM The University Honors Program is for students who want an extra challenge during their college experience. Classes are smaller and more focused on reading, writing and discussion. Eligibility requirements for current or transfer students not in their first semester at UofL: 24 or fewer credit hours - 28 ACT or 1250 SAT (CR + M) and a 3.5 GPA 25 to 69 credit hours - a 3.35 transfer or UofL GPA louisville.edu/a-s/honors. HOW WILL YOUR COURSES TRANSFER? We have many transfer equivalency resources to assist you. UofL s transfer staff will meet with you one-on-one to discuss how your courses will transfer. We also have a transfer guide to help determine how courses will transfer from selected institutions in Kentucky and Indiana. Visit ulink. louisville.edu and click on Evaluate Transfer Credit to access the guide. UofL generally accepts academic credit from regionally accredited institutions. Developmental or technical courses will not transfer. If you are attending a Kentucky public institution: Please have your transcript general education certified. For questions, please transfer@louisville.edu and put transfer credit in the subject line. EARN COURSE CREDIT Save time and money by earning exam credit before you even start classes. Earn credit for things you ve learned in prior courses or previous jobs. You can receive college credit for what you already know by earning qualifying scores on CLEP exams, submitting a writing portfolio or by taking a language test. Planning to study business? You may want to test out of Computer Information Systems (CIS) 100 class. louisville.edu/testing/cis-100- test-out.html. Do you have public speaking experience? Learn how you can test out of the oral communication requirement: comm.louisville. edu/department/testout.php. English Portfolio: Incoming students may submit a writing portfolio evidencing their ability to compose college-level academic writing. Please note: Students cannot submit a portfolio after the first semester, or if they have prior credit from UofL. Language Placement: Students with high school study of French, German, Russian or Spanish may take a web-based placement exam that covers grammar, vocabulary and reading skills. The score on this exam will determine the language course a student will continue in. The better you do, the fewer language courses you will have to take to complete the language requirement and the quicker you can get started on major or minor coursework. louisville.edu/modernlanguages/ placement-exam. CREDIT BY EXAM CLEP (College Level Examination Program) These exams are offered every other Monday (9 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m.) Examinees must schedule in advance at louisville.edu/testing/clep. html and paying the $30 registration fee. The exams are all computerbased and have a 90 minute time limit. Study material is available on the website. The cost of the test is $77 due the day of the exam. Once admitted, transfer students are required to complete 30 of their last 36 hours at UofL. Once admitted, students can complete orientation, attend advising and register for classes. HOUSING UofL offers a variety of housing options for incoming students, including traditional residence halls, semi-private living, and on-campus apartments. There is also the Province, luxury campus housing for transfer students and upperclassmen only.
