16 Rationale for the changes On public health side, two units in health economics moved from elective status to core status to give the MHHSM a distinctive character with a strong policy relevance to build a strong link between teaching and research (Deakin Health Economics is a centre of research excellence with international reputation) On management side, two new units introduced specially developed to cater for students without undergraduate training in management or financial studies 1

Electives in the 3 lists above also fall into 3 streams: 1) public policy; 2) public health; 3) international development. 23 Credit for Prior Learning options 2 masters degrees in two years of full time study - complete one in 1.5 years - 2 nd Masters with additional 4 units of study Be careful in selecting units in your 1st degree if you are to do only 4 units to get the second. Choose courses in the best sequence and be mindful of CORE units Combined masters program in either order: MPH + MHHSM in two years of full-time study MBA + MHHSM in two years of full-time study MHP + MHHSM in two years of full-time study MHP + MPH in two years of full time study

24 Entry to Postgraduate Health Study Suitable undergraduate degree At least. 2 years of work/life experience Direct applications Mid-year: fee-paying places in MPH & MHHSM courses End of year: Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) and fee-paying places may be available in Master of Public Health, Master of Health Promotion, Master of Social Work. Only fee-paying in MHHSM. CSP applications finalised early December. Make sure your application is in by the end of November. TBA closer to the time
