7 C General Organisation of Programme activities C1. General Organisation Please describe the structure at your institution for the implementation and organisation of European and international mobility (division of tasks, operational and communication methods). (max characters) Please provide the direct web link with the contact details of the international office (or equivalent) in your institution dealing with the implementation and organisation of European and international mobility: Betanien University College organizes European and international mobility as follows: Betanien Deaconal University College has an international comittee consistent of an administrative leader, international coordinator and 3 lecturers, 2 students representatives and a secretary. The comittee work within all areas of the University College international program such as rutines for student exchange, developing information material and posters to present our partners and posibilities in exchange countries. We also are following up our buddy system, treat applications from students who want to exchange to and from different countries. The university college works continually to reinforce actual networks and develop new ones and participating in conferences with our partners. We have established an international office where students can seek and get information conserning exchange possibilities. C2. Fundamental Principles By applying for the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education my institution will: Respect in full the principles of non-discrimination set out in the Programme and ensure equal access and opportunities to mobile participants from all backgrounds. Ensure full recognition for satisfactorily completed activities of study mobility and, where possible, traineeships in terms of credits awarded (ECTS or compatible system.). Ensure the inclusion of satisfactorily completed study and/or traineeship mobility activities in the final record of student achievements (Diploma Supplement or equivalent). Please explain the academic credit system and the methodology used to allocate credits to the different course units followed by your students abroad. (max characters) In addition, please provide the direct web link where the methodology is explained: The nursing education curriculum is divided into 4 main areas based on the nursing skills different knowledge bases.these are:professional and scientific 33ECTS, Nursing and Professional Foundation 72ECTS,medical and scientific topics 45ECTS and social science 30ECTS.The curriculum is divided into 9 topics, which are based on nursing knowledge stipulated in in the national curriculum of 2008.The courses covers 6 semesters full time study. Each topic includes learning outcomes, course requirements and different types of assessment.there are requirements for progression in relation to the implementation of the program.all courses are seen in context, in that they build on each other.each topic gives credits when the course is completed. Some courses also have specific requirements to fulfill. The Norwegian ECTS system is based on the national Curriculum of Nursing from the Ministry of Education.A bachelor is equivalent to 60ECTS per year and 180ECTS in total. Charge no fees, in the case of credit mobility, to incoming mobile students for tuition, registration, examinations or access to laboratory and library facilities. C3. When Participating in Mobility Activities - Before mobility Publish and regularly update the course catalogue on the website of the Institution well in advance of the mobility periods, so as to be transparent to all parties and allow mobile students to make well-informed choices about the courses they will follow. 8 Provide guidance to incoming mobile participants in finding accommodation. Please explain if all courses taught at your institution are described in the Course Catalogue and in which languages. (max. 500 characters) In addition, please provide the direct web link to your Course Catalogue: All courses taught at our institution are described in our catalogue in Norwegian. We receive only a few students each year and up to now we have in our introduction taugth them individually on global health, intercultural communication and how our health system is organised. The exchange students who come to our institution want clinical placements and each student gets an English speaking mentor. Carry out mobility only within the framework of prior agreements between institutions. These agreements establish the respective roles and responsibilities of the different parties, as well as their commitment to shared quality criteria in the selection, preparation, reception and integration of mobile participants. Please describe the institutional procedure for the approval and monitoring of inter-institutional agreements for study and teaching mobility and/or learning agreements in case of traineeships (work placements). (max characters) Prior to sign an inter-institution agreement between another University or University College which is a holder of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education we make a preparatory visit to study carefully the partners curriculum to find out if it fits into our parameters. If both partners are satisfied with each others program we make an agreement which clarifies in which field the students can study. We also agree on the numbers of students and staff/teachers each university can receive. For work placements we agree on what type of clinical studies are needed to receive ECTS. We always exchange students of equal competence. When we have agreed on a proposal the agreement has to be signed by the legal representatives. Ensure that outgoing mobile participants are well prepared for the mobility, including having attained the necessary level of linguistic proficiency. Please describe your institution's language policy for preparing participants for mobility, e.g.: course providers within or outside the HEI. (max. 750 characters) If possible, please provide the direct web link for your language policy: As English is the communication language we speak English with all our partners outside Scandinavia. In Norway the level of competence in English is high and the students we accept must have a good level of English both written and spoken. Our University College also have agreements with Sweden and Denmark and within Scandinavia we understand each others language. Our University College does not offer any specific preperation when it comes to language studies but the Norwegian Center for International Cooperation in Education (SIU) offers intensive language courses for exchange students who wants to improve their language skills both for outgoing and incoming students.( Ensure that student and staff mobility for education or training purposes is based on a learning agreement for students and a mobility agreement for staff validated in advance between the home and host institutions or enterprises and the mobile participants. Provide assistance related to obtaining visas, when required, for incoming and outgoing mobile participants. 9 C4. When Participating in Mobility Activities - During Mobility Ensure equal academic treatment and services for home students and staff and incoming mobile participants. Integrate incoming mobile participants into the Institution s everyday life. Have in place appropriate mentoring and support arrangements for mobile participants. Please describe mentoring and support arrangements for incoming mobile participants and outgoing students for study and traineeships. (max. 750 characters) We do make an effort to foster integration of mobile students in academic and social activities.our incoming students are practicing in clinical placements. Each one get a English/ Scandinavian speaking mentor who is available just for this student.there are regularly meetings between the clinical placement and the University College represented by the participant, the mentor/supervisor and the lecturer to ensure that the goals based on the Learning Agreement are achieved.incoming students take part in our counciling/preceptorship program together with the Norwegian students in English.Mobile students get a buddy and they get invitations to social arrangements through Sib who is a welfare organisation for internasjonal students.( Provide appropriate linguistic support to incoming mobile participants. Please describe your institution's language support for incoming students and staff with a minimum of 2-month mobility period. (max. 500 characters) If possible, please provide the direct web link for your language policy: For incoming students who want to learn Norwegian we refer to our libery service who offers auditative language courses. Additional there are voluntarily institutions such as Red Cross who offers conversation groups for foreigners which they can join. C5. When Participating in Mobility Activities - After Mobility Accept all activities indicated in the learning agreement as counting towards the degree, provided these have been satisfactorily completed by the mobile students. Provide incoming mobile participants and their home institutions with transcripts containing a full, accurate and timely record of their achievements at the end of their mobility period. Regarding the above two Charter principles, please describe the mechanisms your institution has in place to recognise mobility achievements for study and traineeships in enterprises. (max. 750 characters) In addition, please provide the direct web link for this recognition procedure: The students get a mid-stay evaluation and a final evaluation which certify that the mobile student has fulfilled all requirements stipulated in the Learning Agreement and signed by the traineeship provider, the student and the College University. Additional we confirm to our partners that the mobile students have fullfilled their mobility achievements and ensure that all the credits earned are recognised. The mobile students also share their experiences with the Norwegian students in a setting just for the purpose of learning and promoting exchange mobility. Support the reintegration of mobile participants and give them the opportunity, upon return, to build on their experiences for the benefit of the Institution and their peers. 10 Ensure that staff are given recognition for their teaching and training activities undertaken during the mobility period, based on a mobility agreement. Please describe your institution's measures to support, to promote and to recognise staff mobility. (max. 750 characters) Every time some of the staff has been on visit to our partners they present and inform all employees in a regular staff meeting. This also happens in our international forums. The institution support mobility economicly when the funds do not cover the expenses. International coordinator also inform the staff via mail about the chance to visit our partners. All mobility among staff is documented in the personell system. C6. When Participating in European and International Cooperation Projects Ensure that cooperation leads to sustainable and balanced outcomes for all partners. Provide relevant support to staff and students participating in these activities. Please describe your institutional measures to support, promote and recognise the participation of your own institution s staff and students in European and international cooperation projects under the Programme. (max. 750 characters) Betanien University College supports international cooperation through exchange and participation in project. This year we are planning a mutual seminar with our partner at the University of the West of England and with our partners in a deaconal network in Scandinavia. We also support a project educating specialist nurses in cancer at Augustin Hospital in Israel through teaching and economical support. Lecturers from our institution who participate in the prosject are rewarded both economicly and personly by acknowledgement. Exploit the results of the projects in a way that will maximise their impact on individuals and participating institutions and encourage peer learning with the wider academic community. C7. For the Purposes of Visibility Display the Charter and the related Erasmus Policy Statement prominently on the Institution's website. Vi samarbeider med universitet og høgskoler i England, Portugal, Spania, Skandinavia, Israel, India og Afrika. Høgskolen har fokus på samarbeid med andre europeiske universitet som har Erasmus avtale og vil utvikle samarbeid med strategiske partnere som utdanner høyt kompetente sykepleiere. Høgskolen velger partnere som har anerkjente utdanninger med høy faglig kvalitet innen forskning og utviklingsarbeid relatert til sykepleie og helsefag. Møte med andre kulturer ser vi som berikende for å få en utvidet forståelse for sykepleiefaget. Vi har fått kontakt og tilgang til våre partnere gjennom høgskolens ulike samarbeidspartnere og nettverk og ansattes personlige nettverk/kontakter. Høgskolen har et utdanningsprogram og samarbeidsavtaler som stimulerer til internasjonal utveksling og man har som mål å øke student- og ansatt mobilitet. Studentmobilitet av 3 måneders varighet har prioritet og vårt mål er å øke antall studenter i dette programmet. Målgruppen er studenter i sykepleie på bachelor og videreutdanningsnivå innen kreftsykepleie.på bachelornivå har høgskolen i hovedsak utveksling innen praksismobilitet som innebærer kliniske studier som medisinsk og kirurgisk sykepleie, hjemmesykepleie, helsefremmende arbeid og psykiatrisk sykepleie. We cooperate with Universities and University Colleges in England, Portugal, Spain, Scandinavia, Israel, India and Africa. The University College has focus on cooperating with other European Universities who hold the Erasmus agreement and will develop cooperation with strategic partners who educate high quality nurses. The University College chooses partners who have acknowledged educations with high quality within research and development related to nursing and health education. Meeting other cultures we see as enriching for an expanded understanding of the nursing profession. We have made contact and have access to our partners through the University College` different co-partners and network and the employees personal network/contacts. The University College has an educational program and cooperational agreements which stimulates International exchange and the goal is to increase student- and staff mobility. The current 3 months exchange program has priority and the aim is to increase the amount of students participating in this program. The target roup is students at bchelor and posteducation level within cancer nursing. At bachelor lever the University College exchange students within clincal placements such as medicin and surgical nursing, home care nursing, health promotion and mental health nursing. The University College`s aim is to be an attractiv copartner who takes an activ part in local, national and international network. 12 Translation language [EN] Betanien University College nationally speaking is a small deaconal and private University College that offers education within the nursing profession at bachelor level, a interprofessional post education within gerontology/geriatric and posteducation within cancer nursing.the posteducation can be a part of a master degree. The University College is situated in Bergen which is an attractive University city known for its research and educational mileu. Our participation in the Erasmus program is important to achieve the University College's overall goals and characteristics. Betanien University College has a clear deaconal profile with the motto: "For the service of mankind". The University College is committed to quality and relevance of research and development and integration with society. All research and development at the University college is rooted in the University college areas where the goal is to be the supplier of knowledge to society. The University College has a program that is attractive to students and adapted to society and social needs. We aim to ensure that all students who want to exchange get an opportunity to study and have practice abroad. We work with national research centers and the University College`s international initiatives are under development. The University College strategi is increased mobility and academically cooperation for employees. To strengthen international initiatives and research has focus and the University College will shortly organize joint seminars with our international partners in narrative gerontology and deacony. The University College emphasizes student focus and is concerned that students are well looked after both academically and socially. There is a close and open communication between staff and students and our students enjoy good service. At bachelor level we collaborate on student exchange wih Scandinavia, England, Portugal and Spain for a duration of 3 months. Exchange Students receive credits/ects equivalent to our students in Norway. They receive financial support through the Center for International development and from Lånekassen who gives financial support to foreign students in Norway. The University College offers professional education in line with the needs of society. In our country there is still a great need for nurses and projections show that the demand will increase in the coming years. Norway cannot meet the demands for health care professionals from our own inhabitants and through student mobility, our partners will be familiar with the possibility to work as nurses in Norway. The University College reports annually to the authorities. During this reporting the University College wishes to encourage greater understanding and the importance of internationalization and create an understanding that internationalization involve costs and there would be a need for financial support. 13 Høgskolen Betanien er i nasjonal sammenheng en liten diakonal og privat høgskole som tilbyr profesjonsutdanning innen sykepleie på bachelornivå, tverrfaglig videreutdanning innen gerontologi/geriatri og videreutdanning i kreftsykepleie. Deler av videreutdanningene kan inngå i en mastergrad. Høgskolen ligger i Bergen som er en attraktiv universitetsby og kjent for sitt forsknings- og utdanningsmiljø. Vår deltakelse i Erasmus-programmet er viktig for å nå høgskolens overordnede mål og kjennetegn. Høgskolen Betanien har en tydelig diakonal profil der mottoet er "i tjeneste for mennesket". Høgskolen er opptatt av kvalitet og relevans i forsknings- og utviklingsarbeidet og god integrasjon med samfunnet. All forsking og utvikling ved høgskolen er forankret i høgskolens fagområder hvor målet er å være kunnskapsleverandør til samfunnet. Høgskolen har et program som er attraktivt for studentene og tilpasset samfunnets og arbeidslivets behov. Høgskolen har som mål at alle studentene som ønsker det får mulighet til å studere og ha praksisopphold i utlandet. Vi samarbeider med nasjonale forskningssentre og høgskolens internasjonale satsing er under utvikling. Høgskolens strategi er økt mobilitet for ansatte og faglig samarbeid med våre eksterne samarbeidspartnere. Å styrke internasjonal satsing og forskningssamarbeid har fokus og høgskolen vil i nær fremtid arrangere felles seminarer med våre internasjonale partnere innen narrativ gerontologi og diakoni. Høgskolen vektlegger studentfokus og er opptatt av at studentene blir godt ivaretatt både akademisk og sosialt. Det er en tett og åpen kommunikasjon mellom ansatte og studenter og studentene nyter god service. Høgskolen vektlegger studentutveksling i 3 måneder og samarbeider med universitet og høgskoler i Skandinavia, England, Portugal og Spania. Utvekslingsstudentene får studiepoeng tilsvarende lokale studenter og økonomisk støtte gjennom senter for internasjonalisering og lånekassen i Norge. Høgskolen tilbyr profesjonsutdanning i tråd med samfunnets behov. I vårt land er det fremdeles et stort behov for sykepleiere og framskrivninger viser at behovet vil øke i årene som kommer. Norge klarer ikke å dekke etterspørselen etter helsepersonell fra egne innbyggere og gjennom studentmobilitet blir våre samarbeidspartnere kjent med muligheten til å arbeide som sykepleiere i vårt land. Høgskolen rapporterer hvert år til myndighetene.
