We offer a friendly, flexible service to all our clients, large and small and negotiate highly competitive premiums on their behalf. Who we work with We re based in the local community, providing professional insurance advice to businesses of all types and sizes. Our typical customers can be found on local high streets and trading estates throughout East Anglia. We work with everybody from sole traders up to medium-sized industrial and white-collar firms. Because we work with clients over the longer term, we can meet their changing insurance needs as they develop and grow over time.
3 How we work We act as insurance advisers to the business community, offering unbiased advice backed up by friendly, personal service. professional advice Key Fact We handle the insurance needs of over 40,000 clients both commercial and personal Chartered Status Chartered Broker status is awarded only to a limited number of Brokers that can consistently demonstrate a commitment to delivering the highest level of staff training and development, advice and ethics. We are proud to hold this Charter. Our job is to make sure you have the insurance you need for the way you do business. That might mean cover for your premises, your vehicle or your equipment. Or it might mean insurance for public liability, personal sickness or employee health and safety. Before we make any recommendation, we ll take the time to understand your business, what it does and how it works. We ll meet you face to face whenever we can. Most clients have a named contact who looks after their insurance personally. We want to build a long-term relationship based on trust, communication and mutual benefit. So we ll never sell you something you don t need. If we can add value to your insurance arrangements, we ll suggest a product but if we can t, we ll say so. Big firms have in-house insurance teams, but that s a luxury smaller firms can t afford. We can fill that role for you, offering you all the insurance advice, documentation and management you need.
4 Brokers, not insurers We are an insurance broker, not an insurer. An insurer sells you a product, while an insurance broker advises you on the purchase of that product. That might seem like a small point, but it makes a big difference to the value we can offer you. We sit on your side of the table, offering you impartial advice based on your unique situation. We re completely independent. We don t have a product to sell, and we re not attached to any provider or product from the market. We can help you get the best from the whole insurance market, choosing the right provider for each type of insurance. We can track the market over time, helping you switch insurers when the time is right.
5 How we charge You might think our hands-on approach and attentive service result in higher costs to our clients in fact the reverse is true. Geoff Carter Since joining forces with Saffron I ve gained greater flexibility and a competitive edge because of their buying power. I m also supported by a team of highly experienced specialist brokers, who I have the utmost respect for. By getting it right we ensure that premiums are kept under control. When you choose Saffron, you get the best of both worlds: the relationship focus of a smaller regional firm and the buying power of a big national group. We ve grown our business to achieve economies of scale without sacrificing the service that our customers really value. We re small enough to care, but big enough to deliver. As a major regional player, we have an efficient, centralised back office and strong relationships with a wide range of insurers. We re also members of Brokerbility, a group of independent UK brokers who negotiate joint discounts and additional covers, allowing us to obtain very competitive prices on your behalf. Often, the commission we receive from insurers means we don t have to charge you anything at all.
6 About us We started out as a motor broker in 1954, and we ve been offering personal and business insurance ever since. We promote from within when we can, and play an active role in a range of community causes and projects. This support is not always financial; often you ll find our teams actively engaged with local charities. Key to Saffron is our people. We have excellent training and development in place; many of our staff are qualified or currently studying for their Chartered Institute (CII) qualifications. Over the last ten years we ve expanded steadily to establish a strong position in the insurance market while maintaining high service levels. Since we ve grown partly by acquisition, we ve added several specialisms to our offer, as well as attracting clients outside East Anglia. However, continuity is very strong, with several relatives of our original founders and former owners of acquired firms still involved with the business. Today, we have two large support centres plus sales offices and representatives across the area. We re a dynamic company and we re committed to serving East Anglian businesses into the future.
