2 MESSAGE FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT The Oriskany Central School District Board of Education, school staff, and I take this opportunity to welcome you to the school year. Thank you for making Oriskany your school of choice we work hard to set ourselves apart in how we attend to the individual needs of our students and families. As our mission statement proclaims: The mission of the Oriskany Central School District is to prepare students to excel in an ever-changing world. We are committed to our tradition of personal attention, positive relationships, and a productive climate for learning. It is our intent to have our words and actions match our mission statement every day and in every way. Please let us know how we may do a better job of ensuring that the mission statement is enacted. Beginning this year we are embarking on a multi-year initiative to further establish Oriskany as a school of innovation and high achievement. Oriskany: Beyond the Box will provide our students with the experiences necessary to succeed in a competitive global environment. 27 EMERGENCY CLOSINGS AND DELAYS Occasionally, inclement weather conditions require that the opening of school be delayed, canceled or that students be sent home early. If, in the judgment of the Superintendent, it is in the best interest of the health and safety of the children to cancel school, this will be done.
