1 Meaningful Use Registration with CMS for RevolutionEHR Users Overview Doctors of optometry are considered Eligible Professionals (EPs) for the CMS EHR Incentive program that provides incentive funds for the meaningful use (MU) of certified EHR technology. The Medicare Fee- For- Service component of the EHR Incentive program allows optometrists to register for their future intent of attesting to MU. The registration website is found at: Each doctor who intends to eventually demonstrate and attest to MU will need to register. Within a practice with multiple doctors, this registration process needs to be completed under a specific login separate for each doctor. The ID for the doctor will be the NPPES web user account login ID and password. These details should be known by whoever in the practice is involved with billing to CMS for Medicare patients. 2 Registration Process Upon login in to the system, the doctor will be presented with a Registration Instruction page that leads the registration process. The Doctor s name should be listed in the grid at the bottom. At this point, the Doctor will click a hyperlink in the Action column labeled Register. Page 2
3 The Doctor will then be moved to a Registration Questionnaire page. Currently, ODs are limited to participation in the Medicare program. The Registration process depends on the user clicking the Save and Continue button to proceed through the process. Please note that some important information will be needed to complete the process: When asked Do you have a certified EHR? you will click Yes and proceed to the What is an EHR Certification Number? hyperlink where the provider will lookup RevolutionEHR on the government s website and for which the provider will receive a CMS EHR Certification ID (see next page) The Doctor s SSN or NPI, depending on the Doctor s decision on whether the payment will be made to the Doctor or a different Payee The Payee s NPI if the payment is being assigned to a corporate entity that is not the Doctor Page 3
4 ONC Certification Listing of RevolutionEHR RevolutionEHR has accomplished Complete EHR Certification and has a CMS EHR Certification ID. This information is accessible via the hyperlink found during the Registration process. To find a list of all certified EHR technology, you can visit: chpl.force.com/ehrcert/ehrproductsearch To receive the ID number, you must find RevolutionEHR in the product listing in the center of the webpage, and then click on the add to cart link beside the listing for RevolutionEHR v Page 4
5 This will result in a process that will give the provider a 15 character ID that can be taken back to the CMS Registration page to complete the process. This number is reported by the provider in the space called EHR Certification Number. This is not a number that RevolutionEHR will provide to you. Page 5
6 Future Attestation of MU The Doctor will later in 2011 or in 2012 return to this website and click on the Attestation header bar to provide the proper documentation for EHR Meaningful Use. During the Attestation process, the doctor s information as entered during the Registration process will be brought forward into the following screen. From that point, the doctor will enter the start and end dates for the Attestation period and then proceed through the process of entering the necessary data to demonstrate compliance with the MU Objectives. 7 Conclusion RevolutionEHR users are encouraged to become knowledgeable about meaningful EHR use and are recommended to consider demonstrating meaningful use in the second half of The first step of action toward demonstrating MU is for each doctor who is interested in qualifying for the CMS EHR Incentive Program to register. This action can be done immediately, even if the doctor is not certain that EHR MU will be attempted at this time. A series of informative advisory documents will be distributed by RevolutionEHR to further assist the doctors who use the system to achieve successful EHR Incentive Program payment. Page 7
