1 Juvenile Justice System Community Based & Residential Programs Green Residential Community Home Population: Males ages 13-16, maximum capacity 32 Services Provided: Located in Ringwood, New Jersey, this is a group home that focuses on behavior modification. The group fosters community service with Ridgewood State Park and Manor along with the municipal government. It also works closely with the Playwright s Theater of New Jersey Website: Manor Woods Residential Community Home Population: Males ages , maximum capacity 24 Services Provided: Located in Mays Landing, New Jersey, this is a 6-8 month behavior modification program that focuses on decision making skills. Members work at Atlantic County Park through the AmeriCorps program. Juveniles also assist the Atlantic County Food Bank as part of their service. The site has on-site greenhouses and promotes horticulture and landscaping. Four days a week juveniles participate in the Cooperative Construction Trades Program at Allaire State Park. It requires a 3 year term of probation, 18 months are at the Pinelands facility and the last 18 months are in the Pinelands aftercare program. Website: Voorhees Residential Community Home Population: Males ages 15-18, maximum capacity 27 Services Provided: Located in Glen Gardner, New Jersey, this is a behavior modification facility that provides both an academic education and training in carpentry, landscaping, plumbing and masonry. It also boasts a Pre-Apprentice program in carpentry. Further, this program seeks to empower young women through mentoring, individual/family counseling, life skills training, GED preparation and variety of other services. This program intercedes in the emotional, social and academic areas of juveniles lives through individual treatment plans. This program includes a component that teaches juveniles multimedia skills. 4 juveniles participate in a wilderness program designed to improve decision-making, self-confidence and encourage teamwork. Website: Campus Program Population: Males ages 16-18, maximum capacity 39 Services Provided: Located in Blackwood, New Jersey, this is a group home that focuses on serious substance abuse and behavioral issues. This program is designed to promote responsibility, initiative, and the development of healthy coping skills. This site has on-site greenhouses and promotes horticulture and landscaping. It also has a building maintenance program and computer literacy program. Website: Costello Prep Residential Community Home Population: Males ages 16-19, maximum capacity 50 Services Provided: Located in Tabernacle, New Jersey, this facility provides educational, therapeutic care, and recreational experiences. This program is designed to prepare residents to return to their communities as positive, contributing members. Specifically, their curriculums develop leadership, communication and other critical life skills that complement other aspects of the juvenile s rehabilitation. Website: D.O.V.E.S. Residential Community home Population: Females ages 13-18, maximum capacity 24 Services Provided: Located in Bordentown, New Jersey, this is a 4 to 12 month program that focuses on Developing Opportunities and Value through Education and Substance Abuse treatment. The program provides individualized care through an approach that addresses behavioral, substance abuse and developmental issues. The program aims to empower each young woman to become self-reliant, confident, and a well-rounded individual. Website: Essex Transitional Program Population: Males ages 16-18, maximum capacity 25 Services Provided: Located in Newark, New Jersey, this facility provides transition assistance for paroled youth. This program is designed to prepare juveniles for return to the community. Juveniles receive academic instruction and are taught carpentry, plumbing, masonry and landscaping by qualified teachers. 5 Services Provided: Located in Allaire State Park, New Jersey, this residential program focuses on seriously emotionally disturbed, impaired or otherwise vulnerable juveniles found within the Juvenile Justice Commission s other programs and institutions. Juveniles approved for this program have been identified as appropriate for a less restrictive environment. Website: Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) Program Type: Community Sponsoring Agency: YCM Population: Males and Females, all ages up to 18, maximal capacity depends on number of therapists Services Provided: This local program provides services for youths in the criminal justice system. It focuses on working with families to develop behavior plans for offenders. Therapists work with families for a period of three to four months. The therapists visit and work with the juvenile and family members on average twice per week. MST also provides aftercare for Camden Group Home, JJC Aftercare, Parole and Camden Juvenile Probation. Ten beds are set aside for juveniles in transition from commitment to release back to the community. Website: Youth Empowerment System Shelter and Treatment Facility (YES) /Shelter Sponsoring Agency: DYFS/JJC/Center for Family Services Population: Males and females, ages 11-17, maximum capacity Services Provided: Located in Blackwood, New Jersey, YES provides both long-term residential treatment and short-term emergency shelter care. The center provides education, individual and group counseling, substance abuse treatment and like skills training. The shelter portion of the YES facility also serves as a detention-alternative for the Camden Family court system. Website: Faith Alternative Intensive Treatment Home (FAITH) Sponsoring Agency: DYFS/YCM Population: Females, ages 12-17, maximum capacity 5 Services Provided: Located in Laurel Springs, New Jersey, this facility provides homeless females with a stable environment that offers group and individual counseling.
