Computer Competency Testing Requirements The Computer Competency Test will assist in making sure all PC Virtual students have the skills necessary to succeed in online learning. This test is a requirement of all incoming students as welll as a graduation requirement. To accesss the test on the Presentation College website, go to: Go to Direct Links in the upper right hand corner. From the drop down menu under Offices, choose Career & Learning Center. From the Career & Learning Center, choose Testing Services. Near the bottom of the page, you will find the Technology Competency Test. 6 PRESENTATION COLLEGE Department of Nursing BSN Completion for One Year (certificate) LPN Credit by Exam The student has the option of receiving credit by exam to grant credit for prior learning. Exams are scheduled by the student and must be completed prior to June 1 st and entering any nursing clinical courses. Payment must be received prior to taking the exam. Students need to contact their advisors to discuss which exams are needed. The advisor will then send the appropriate paperwork to the Business Office. It is the student s responsibility to contact the Business Office ( ) and pay for the exams. Once the exams have been paid for, the Nursing Office will be notified. The student will need to connect with their advisor to set up the day/time of each exam. Each student will need to have a proctor on file in the Nursing Department. The proctor agreement forms can be found online, on Blackboard, or you can Linda Jo Van Dover, Administrative Assistant at LindaJo.VanDover@presentation.edu to receive a proctor form. The student may have two attempts at passing the exam. If a passing score is not received the first time, student will do formal remediation to master the content prior to retaking the exam. If it is not passed on the second attempt, the student will be required to take the appropriate course. Courses challenged with exams will be recorded on the transcript for a fee of $47.00 per credit hour - not including the challenge fee. Test fees range from $35.00-$ Successful challenge exams can be taken in any order and include: NLN ACE I Foundations of Nursing (5 credits of NB235, PS153) NLN Basic Nursing Care II (NB303, 3 credits of NB368, 3 credits of NB338) NLN Anatomy and Physiology (BI183 and BL181) NLN Microbiology (BI234) The student is encouraged to review and study for the exams to ensure success. A book designed for RN NCLEX review and/or a medical surgical nursing book is the recommended study tool for the nursing exams. The NLN ACE I Foundations of Nursing exam assesses fundamental skills needed to meet physiological and psychosocial needs of clients who are in stable condition. The exam contains 184 items and is to be completed in three and one half hours. The NLN Basic Nursing Care II exam assesses the student's understanding of the fundamental aspects of nursing care, with specific emphasis on priority setting and critical thinking skills. The care of clients with physiological needs (including oxygenation and the maintenance of fluid and electrolyte balance) and special needs (including preparation for surgery and diagnostic testing) are included. It also addresses the principles of medication administration. The exam contains approximately 120 items and is to be completed in 2 hours.

Successful challenge exams may be taken in any order and can include: NLN mobility exam for mental health (NB344 and PS133) NLN mobility exam for maternal-child (NB338 and PS153) NLN mobility exam for adults (NB368, BI234, BI183, BL181, NB303, and 2 credits of NB235) NU333 Health Assessment The student is encouraged to review and study for the exams to ensure success. A book designed for RN NCLEX review and/or a medical surgical nursing book, OB/Peds book, and mental health book are recommended study tools for the nursing exams. Maternal Child Nursing assesses understanding of nursing care during intrapartal, postpartal, and neonatal periods. It also addresses nursing care of hospitalized children and adolescents. The exam has two parts and needs to be completed in 2.5 hours for each section. There are approximately 100 items per test. Nursing Care of the Adult Client assesses knowledge of the nursing care of adult clients with a variety of common health problems. It is applicable to various practice settings. The exam is to be completed in 5 hours and contains approximately 219 items. Nursing Care of the Client with a Mental Disorder addresses a broad spectrum of psychological wellnessillness. It evaluates the student s understanding of psychosocial assessment and nursing intervention to support client strengths. The exam is to be completed in two and one half hours and contains approximately 132 items.
