This modern eco-friendly induction system produces an oscillating magnetic field that directly heats only the utensil, making your cooking faster and more energyefficient than the traditional stoves. Now the power of precisely controlling the temperature when cooking your favorite recipes is on your hands, with the high-end portable and versatile Induction Cooktop by Royal Prestige. Enjoy the benefits of cooking more efficiently and in less time at home or wherever you would like to take your cooking skills! 2 Induction Cooker Manual ENG_03-15.indd 2

3 How does induction work? An induction cooktop holds a series of burners called induction coils (based on magnetic principles). These coils generate magnetic fields that induct a warming reaction in steel and iron-based cookware. This way, the utensil itself heats the food, not the cooktop surface. What are the benefits of cooking with an induction cooktop? Efficient: Induction cooking is an eco-friendly and energy-efficient way to cook. Induction cooktops use most of the energy produced, which is much more energy- efficient than gas or electric cooktops. By recognizing the base of the cookware, induction heats only its diameter, so very little energy is wasted. Moreover, induction emits no flame, so less residual heat is produced, keeping your kitchen cooler. Fast: Heating and adjustments are immediate, saving you cooking time when compared to gas and electric. Even heat distribution: Hot spots and rings are avoided because the bottom of your cookware heats uniformly. Easy to clean: The surface is flat and smooth; spills and overflows do not stick to the cooktop, so they can easily be wiped away. What type of cookware can I use on Induction? Since Induction is based on magnetic principles, the cookware used on it must have a ferrous (iron-based, magnetic) bottom. Some types of cookware are made of naturally magnetic metals (such as pure iron), while others are manufactured to be magnetic by sandwiching a thin layer of a ferrous metal in the base. This layer in the base is what will be affected by the magnetic field of the induction cooktop and distributes the heat. Generally speaking, multi-ply, high-quality stainless steel and cast iron cookware will work on induction cooktops. Copper, glass and aluminum cookware will not work unless they have a sandwiched magnetic base. The easiest way to check whether your cookware is compatible with an induction cooktop, is to take a magnet and try to stick it to the bottom of your pan. If it sticks, your pan will work on induction. You can use even the simplest decorative refrigerator magnet for this test. Note that the magnet has to stick only to the bottom of the pan, not necessarily to the sides. If the sides are not magnetic but the bottom is, your pan will still work perfectly well on induction. The pans that work best on induction are medium to heavy-gauge. 4 ATTENTION: The cookware used on your portable Royal Prestige Induction Cooktop should have a diameter between 12 and 26 centimeters, and a flat bottom. Safety Instructions The product you have purchased carries the ETL Listed Mark from Intertek. The ETL Listed Mark is proof of product compliance (electrical, gas and other safety standards) to North American safety standards. However, as with any electric appliance, there are some potential risks. Only operate this induction cooktop in accordance with the instructions provided and only for its intended household use. ATTENTION: When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, property damage, electrical shock and personal injury, including the following: Read all instructions prior to use. Never touch the Induction Cooktop and the power plug with wet hands. Be sure to operate the unit on a flat, level, non-metallic surface. Do not connect the Induction Cooktop to the same outlet with other household appliances such as toasters, microwaves, etc. As it could overload the outlet and trip a circuit breaker. If using an extension cord to connect the Induction Cooktop, please note that a damaged extension cord can cause the unit to malfunction. Always check your extension cord for damage and be sure it is compliant with the required voltage. Be sure not to place the cord where people can trip over it. Never attempt to unplug the Induction Cooktop by pulling on the power cable. Do not move the Induction Cooktop during cooking or with hot cookware on top of it. Do not place any empty cookware on the Induction Cooktop while it is functioning. An empty piece of cookware will heat up very rapidly and can cause material damage or personal injury. Do not place any metal objects on the Induction Cooktop (other than the cookware you intend to cook in). Check the power cable for damage from time to time. Never operate the Induction Cooktop when the cable is damaged. Do not heat up any unopened cans of food on the Induction Cooktop. A heated can of food could explode. Only cook or heat food in induction compatible cookware. Although the surface of the Induction Cooktop remains cool to the touch because heat is transferred directly to the pot, please note that the residual heat from the cookware will eventually warm up the cooking surface, especially the area directly underneath the pot. Be careful when handling the cooktop after use and let it cool down before storing. Do not place any magnetized objects like credit cards, cassettes etc. on the glass surface while the Induction Cooktop is in operation. The magnetic properties of the unit can damage these items. In order to avoid overheating, do not place any aluminum foil or metal plates on the cooking surface Induction Cooker Manual ENG_03-15.indd 4

5 Timer Temp Heating Do not insert any objects like wires or tools into the ventilation slots. This may cause electric shock. Never use the Induction Cooktop when it is not functioning properly, shows signs of damage or if it has been dropped. Do not leave the Induction Cooktop unsupervised during operation. Keep children away from the Induction Cooktop. Do not submerge the Induction Cooktop in water or other liquids and do not wash it in the dishwasher. Do not operate the Induction Cooktop on any metal table or surface. Only qualified experts may perform repair and maintenance work on the Induction Cooktop. Never attempt to dissemble or repair the Induction Cooktop yourself! This product is not intended for commercial use; it is for household use only. Be sure to always use proper judgment and caution while using this cooktop in outdoor situations and public areas. Always make sure the unit is not set up in a place where there are unattended children or people who are unaware of its presence. Make sure to set up on a flat, stable surface in an area where there is no nearby water source that could pose an imminent danger like pools, spas, sprinklers, hoses etc. Product Diagram Control Panel SURFACE REMAINS HOT AFTER USE DO NOT TOUCH! 6 Installing the Induction Cooktop Place the Induction Cooktop on a stable and level non-metallic surface. Never place the Induction Cooktop on a flammable surface (e.g. table cloth, carpet, etc.). Do not block the ventilation slots of the Induction Cooktop. This may overheat the cooktop. Keep a minimum distance of 3-5 inches from walls and other objects, appliances, etc. Do not place the Induction Cooktop next to devices or objects that react sensitively to magnetic fields (e.g. radios, TVs, cassette recorders, etc.). Do not place the Induction Cooktop next to open fires, heaters or other sources of heat. Make sure that the power cable is not damaged or compressed beneath the Induction Cooktop. Make sure that the power cable does not come into contact with sharp edges and/or hot surfaces. Prior to connecting the Induction Cooktop, check whether the voltage indicated in this manual corresponds to the voltage supply in your home. A wrong connection may lead to damage to the Induction Cooktop and possible injury to persons. The cooktop s surface is made of temperature-resistant glass. In the event that damage to the unit is observed, even if it is only a small crack on the glass surface, disconnect the induction cooktop from the power supply immediately and contact our customer service department by calling (bilingual). Operating the Induction Cooktop Note before you start: this induction cooking system has a touch control panel with the latest safety features: in order to press a button, tap on it once with the tip of your finger. If you slide your finger over it or press it too gently, the button will not react. This is a safety feature that prevents children from turning the Induction Cooktop on easily, and also enables you to wipe off spills from the cooking surface without accidentally pressing any buttons. How to use your Induction Cooktop by Royal Prestige : 1. Follow the instructions for proper installation of the Induction Cooktop, found in this manual. Plug the power cable into a properly installed outlet. 2. Tap the ON/OFF button once. The Induction Cooktop will turn on and remain in standby mode. To turn the child lock off, it is not sufficient to just tap once on the LOCK button. You have to press and hold the button for a couple of seconds until you hear a beep and the light turns off. Cleaning and Maintenance Remove the power plug prior to cleaning the Induction Cooktop. Do not use any caustic cleaning agents and make sure that water does not penetrate inside the system. Never immerse the Induction Cooktop, its cables or the plug into water or other liquids. Wipe off the glass cooktop with a soft damp cloth. Wipe off the casing and the operating panel with a soft cloth or a mild detergent. Do not use any oil based cleansing products in order not to damage the plastic parts or the casing/operating panel. Do not use any flammable, acidic or alkaline materials or substances near the Induction Cooktop, as this may reduce the service life of the induction system and pose a fire risk when the Induction Cooktop is turned on. In order to keep your Induction Cooktop looking new, make sure that the bottom of your cookware does not scrape the glass surface, although a scratched surface will not impair the use of the Induction Cooktop. Make sure to properly clean the unit before storing it in a cool, dry place Induction Cooker Manual ENG_03-15.indd 8
