2 ESD in new education system STATE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM according International Standard Classification of Education (ISCED) 1, 2, 3, contents several EDUCATIONAL AREAS they are obligatory and represents 70% of educational activities setting up several CROSS- CURRICULUM THEMES they are obligatory too, and represents up to 30% of educational activities.

3 ESD in new education system SCHOOLS EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM for each kind and level of schools according ISCED 1,2,3, contents: EDUCATIONAL AREAS they are obligatory and represents 70% of educational activities CROSS- CURRICULUM THEMES they are obligatory too, and represents up to 30% of educational activities

4 ESD in new education system CROSS- CURRICULUM THEMES : the compulsory elements of educational programmes are cross-curriculum themes that usually evolve through contentional educational areas the selection of the implementation of this programme is up to the each school s decision the cross-curriculum themes can be applied in various forms as an integral part of educational contents and selection of appropriate subjects or as an independent elective subject. Could be even used as the tool for school profile we consider the project (given the scope of available time) to be an optimal form of the curriculum. The necessary condition of the affectivity of such method is the realisation of the theme in informal way and the usage of activating and interactive methods..

5 ISCED 1 PRIMARY EDUCATION (6-11 YEARS) PRIMARY EDUCATION (6-11 YEARS) The objectives of ISCED 1: provides the basis for future development of skills and competencies of pupils as a basis for general education through the following targets: offering pupils vast opportunities of directed exploration of their closest cultural and natural environment in order to develop their imagination, creativity and interest in their neighbourhood developing their social interest and respect for the classmates, teachers, parents and other people in their vicinity as well as towards their broader cultural and natural environment.

8 ISCED 1 PRIMARY EDUCATION (6-11 YEARS) Educational Area: NATURE AND SOCIETY The gradual exploration of the surrounding world is the objective of two school subjects: Natural science Social science Some topics may be part of another school subjects and Educational areas HUMAN BEING AND VALUES Ethic Education Religion Education

9 ISCED 1 PRIMARY EDUCATION (6-11 YEARS) Cross- curriculum themes in ISCED 1 helps to develop environmental knowledge is: ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION It affects every subject mainly natural science, geography, skills education and ethical education. The aim of the subject is to assist the development of pupil s personality in order to allow him to comprehend, analyse and value the relationship between the human being and the environment while at the same time understanding the need for the protection of the environment world-wide.

10 ISCED 1 PRIMARY EDUCATION (6-11 YEARS) ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION It s important for pupils to gain the skills and knowledge to help the protection of the environment by simple actions protection of plants, animals, a positive attitude towards the domestic animals and the surrounding nature. From the organisational point of view the best option is to include the cross-curriculum themes into various subjects through individual projects or courses say one week to focus on environmental education with theoretical and practical part.

11 ISCED 2 - LOW SECONDARY EDUCATION (11 15 years) ISCED 2 - LOW SECONDARY EDUCATION The objectives of ESDED 2: To develop key skills and competencies for a given age, sensible basic knowledge and targeted basis for the lifetime learning Clear understanding of national and world s cultural heritage Interest and the need for sensible activity and creativity

14 ISCED 2 - LOW SECONDARY EDUCATION (11 15 years) Educational Area: HUMAN BEING AND THE NATURE The objective of the education in this area is to understand the natural aspects affecting the human s life and to know how to explain the natural phenomena in its own surroundings, show interest in the nature and the natural processes and to gain the knowledge from theoretical sources and own experiments in the nature and laboratories by using graphs, schemes and drawings. Educational Area: HUMAN BEING AND THE SOCIETY The educational activity tries through the contents to preserve the continuity of traditional values of our society in line with actual integration processes, to lead towards the comprehension of patriotism and national pride in the European context and the multi-culturalism.

17 ISCED 2 - LOW SECONDARY EDUCATION (11 15 years) cross- curriculum themes in ISCED 2 help to develope environmental knowledge is: ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION The aim of this theme is to address the development of pupil s personality in order to gain certain abilities to comprehend and analyse the relationship between the human being and his(her) environment based on natural laws on Earth; to understand the connections between the development of a society the attitude towards the environment in various parts of the world; to understand the connections between the local and global problems and own responsibility for attitude towards the nature.

18 ISCED 3 UPPER SECONDARY EDUCATION (15 19 years) The objectives of UPPER SECONDARY EDUCATION can be summarised as follows: Personal: to maximise the development of each student potential for personal growth and to become independent and creative personality Social: the development of student s sense for social coherence, care, justice, strengthening of the interest towards the national heritage and acceptance of cultural variations Professional: the development of abilities for the educated selection of future professional path Educational: the development of broad cultural (general and scientific in particular) educational basis for lifetime learning and creativity expansion

26 ISCED 3 UPPER SECONDARY EDUCATION (15 19 years) To develop the skills that are necessary for daily human actions with respect to the environment To develop the cooperation for the protection and creation of the environment at the local and international level To understand social and cultural impacts that determine human values and behaviours, the notion of individual responsibility for the human attitude towards the environment as consumer and producer To be capable to assess the objectivity and importance of information on the status of the environment, to be able to discuss these issue, defend and justify own opinions and positions To use the information and communication technologies and means for the information gathering and presentation of own work

27 ISCED 3 UPPER SECONDARY EDUCATION (15 19 years) For values and attitudes we will see: The ability to take the life as the highest value The understanding of sustainable development as positive perspective of future development of a society The strengthening of the responsibility with respect to live habitat The support for active attitude towards the creation and protection of the environment through practical education The strengthening of the feeling of responsibility towards the healthy life style and understanding of aesthetic values of the environment The ability to understand and sensibly approach the nature and natural and cultural heritage The deepening, development and strengthening of the value system in favour of acts supporting the environment The development of the ability to cooperate in teams, share the work and take responsibility
