3 HELLO! We are Paul and Beth, along with our adopted daughter Genevieve. Growing our family is something we have longed to do since we were married six years ago, and we thank you for this amazing opportunity to be considered as adoptive parents for your child. We admire your courage to give the gift of life to your baby and we respect you for this decision. Our hope is that through this booklet we can show you that we are a fun, loving couple who want to share this love with your child. 4 ABOUT US

5 When we married one of our goals was to expand our family, but due to our struggle with infertility we are unable to conceive. We feel adoption is the perfect way to build our family, and already have one beautiful adopted daughter. We know that love is what creates a family rather than genetics, and our families are full of love and just waiting to share it. We cannot convey how excited and honored we are for this extraordinary opportunity. We want the most for your child. We will give him or her a home full of love and laughter, a great education, wonderful experiences through travel, and everything in between that he or she will need to be the best he or she can be. Thank you again for considering us.

6 When we met each other in 2005, we both knew within weeks that we had finally found the one. We were engaged a year and half later on Christmas Day and have developed a very strong relationship through our six years of marriage. Almost immediately after getting married, we had the opportunity to live and work in Paris, France where we both learned a new way of life and also learned to speak French. But we are happy to be back in the states now, settled down and closer to friends and family. We just recently purchased an older home and have spent a lot of time painting and updating the house, eagerly awaiting another new addition to our family so we can begin planning a second nursery!

8 OUR PARENTING PHILOSOPHY We have a clear vision of the life we d like for our future child. We will give him or her a secure and nurturing childhood filled with creativity, imagination, and wonder. Our son or daughter will have a loving respectful upbringing. We will encourage our child to pursue his or her talents, interests and dreams, so that he or she can become a unique and happy individual. We will teach them kindness and acceptance for all people and cultures, leading by example. We ll also do our best to give him or her every opportunity to learn and succeed in education and in life. A childhood filled with fun and memorable experiences within our family.

10 Beth is an elementary school teacher who loves her summers off; but when school is in she loves being around her students and takes great pride in shaping the future of our youth by making learning fun. Her unending patience and her genuine caring attitude towards the well-being of others is evident in her actions and sacrifices she makes every day to ensure her students get the best possible education. Beth s students think she s a pretty cool teacher. Beth spends as much time as she can with our daughter, and it is amazing how much she adores her. She enjoys playing with her almost any activity and the teacher in her is always trying to have her learn and experience something new constantly. She is a very active person who loves the outdoors and is always looking forward in life with a positive attitude. Her true passion besides children, is cooking, and it s obvious by the size of our kitchen and the steady flow of house guests sitting at our kitchen table. 14 Paul has a huge and loving smile that is contagious whenever he enters a room. He loves to meet new people and can discuss almost any subject from diaper changing to high politics. In Paul s professional life he thrives because he is ambitious and has worked very hard to get where he is. His laugh makes others laugh, and when he hangs out with his friends, he is a kid at heart. Paul has a wide variety of interests that range from reading, cooking, cycling and running, to being the handyman around the house, fixing whatever needs attention. Paul always looks to the positive side of a situation and is an eternal optimist. Paul comes from a very large and loving family and it is important to him to pass along those same types of memories of cherished holidays filled with boisterous friends and family. Paul is already a wonderful father, and I ve seen his excitement grow during the adoption process. I look forward to raising our second child with him. 17 GENEVIEVE

18 Born in December of 2013, Genevieve is an extremely happy baby. She wakes up in the morning with a huge smile on her face ready to start her day. From very early on she was alert and aware of everything going on around her. She smiles and laughs all day long and enjoys being read bed time stories. She and our dog Cooper have become best friends and he insists on hanging out in her room whenever she is there, awake or asleep. The nursery we designed and built for her is a kids room dream come true, and we all like hanging out with her in her room. Genevieve would love to have a brother or a sister to share her childhood memories with, play games with, and bond with, as siblings do. Our energy and enthusiasm to raise children is plentiful and our goal is to give them the best childhood and upbringing we can. 21 OUR HOME & COMMUNITY We live in North Carolina in a neighborhood with many young families who can often be found playing together in the front yards. There are also excellent schools in our community. We chose our home with the intention of raising a family here. We have plenty of room inside for playing and having friends over.

22 We look forward to exploring all that our community has to offer for children Our house is on a quiet culde-sac where we have a large yard. We also have a small fish pond in our back yard. Our neighborhood is full of wildlife squirrels, rabbits, chipmunks, birds, and even deer. Just beyond our neighborhood is a park with a large playground, soccer field, baseball field, and trails to explore.

24 OUR PET Our pet is a beagle named Cooper who is not only the most adorable beagle ever, but also the gentlest dog we know. He loves being around kids and can usually be found on carpet at the foot of Genevieve s crib or on the couch sitting beside us. Cooper is a very active tenyear-old and loves to play with children.
