Maybe you had little too much fun this holiday? Now you are left feeling low on energy or out of balance? Making the effort to focus on detoxifying is an excellent way to regain your health and vibrant energy! We eat toxins, breathe toxins, can create toxins with our thoughts and emotions... the list goes on! Our bodies liver and lymphatic system are always working to flush toxins out of our body. To help those systems operate efficiently, and to give them less to work on, we can make simple choices to kick start a natural detox and enjoy radiant health! Here s to Radiant Health in 2016!

2 Getting Started on Your Detox It s simple. You don t need an expensive juicer and a personal guru to do an amazing detox. Detoxification includes everything from working up a good sweat to clearing the mind of destructive thoughts.you have the freedom to create your own powerful detox by just following some basic guidelines. Focus on what you need most. Here are our 10 yoga-inspired detox tips to get you going... #1 Drink Plenty of Water Drinking water is key to helping your body detox. Drink purified filtered water and be sure to store it in a BPAfree container, such as stainless steel or glass. You are 75% Water Drinking hot water does amazing things for your body! Drink hot or warm water to improve your circulation, your digestion, and some old sages say, your longevity! Ever think about the best time to drink water? 8 oz How Much? Divide your body weight in half to find out how many ounces of water you should drink per day. Drink 2 glasses of water first thing in the morning to help get your internal organs working. Drink a glass of water 30 minutes prior to meals to help digestion. Avoid drinking water during a meal to not dilute your digestive enzymes. Drink up! #2 Enjoy a Hot Herbal Detox Tea There are so many great herbal detox teas available. These teas include natural herbs known to support the liver and kidneys, help digestion, and improve circulation. Get your hands on a detox tea that looks good to you and enjoy it in the morning, afternoon and evening.

3 #3 Eat Nutrient Dense Plants You are what you eat, plus a whole lot more! Take a moment each day to plan and think about what you are going to eat during your detox. Think colorful, fresh & fiber. 4 #4 Get Your Blood Pumping, Get Sweaty During a detox, getting the blood pumping and your circulation moving is so important! By doing exercise of any kind to get the heart rate up, you improve circulation and assist the bodies waste systems to operate the most efficiently. Get sweaty by trying out a hot yoga class or picking up the pace on your walk. To warm up for some detox yoga poses, do this Sun Salutation sequencef linking your breath to your movements. Repeat this sequence 5 times to get warmed up. Simple Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) to get you warmed up. #5 Detoxifying Yoga Poses Yoga twists have long been said to help the body detox. The theory is that twists squeeze the organs, which push the blood out of them, so fresh blood can rush in. By focusing our intention on what is no longer serving us, we can further enhance your detox goals. Here are 5 yoga poses to aid our detox intentions... Downward Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana) Downward dog pose is a simple powerful pose that encourages digestion. The heart is elevated over the head, which helps increase both blood and lymph circulation. Engage your abdomen and pull your shoulders away from your ears. Take 5 inhales & exhales.» More

5 Detoxifying Yoga Poses Continued Revolved Crescent Lunge (Parivitta Ajaneyāsana) Twisting the body is great for detoxing. When we twist, we squeeze the key filtering organs around our core and abdimon. Revolved crescent lunge is an active twist that lengthens and stretches the spine while stimulating kidneys & other internal organs. Send some postive vibes to your kidneys while you are at it. Camel Pose (Ustrasana) Camel Pose is a heart opening pose that builds strength and also helps to improve digestion, our absorbtion and filtration systems. Utrasana also helps bring balance to the respiratory, endocrine, lymphatic, circulatory, and skeletal systems. Often this pose brings up emotions. Just let go of what no longer serves you. Plow Pose (Halasana) Plow pose is an excellent shape to take while detoxing. Inverting with the chin tucked helps calms the brain and gravity stimulates the abdominal organs. Before entering this pose, begin in a supported shoulder stand (with your legs straight above you) and hold for several breaths before entering plow pose. Take 5 long breaths. Wide Leg Forward Bend (Prasarita Padottanasana) Reverses the pull of gravity, encouraging circulation of blood throughout the body as well as fluid to your filtering lymph nodes. The folding motion also squeezes the belly, which moves things along for digestion.

6 #6 Detox Breathing Techniques Our lungs are also a major eliminative organ for toxins and waste. Use your breath to improve circulation and accelerate deroxification. By performing breathing exercises, we can increase air flow for the gas exchanges taking place in our lungs enhancing our overall detox efforts. Conscious Breathing Deep breathing with strong exhalations can empty the lungs of unneeded carbon dioxide and allow fthe body to absorb more oxygenated air. Nourishes your cells by giving them more air, enlivening and improving our overall health. Sit comfortably, and close your eyes. Breathe in slowing through your nose for a count of seven. Hold for a count of seven, exhale for seven, and again hold with the lungs emptied for a count of seven. You may need to start with less time and work up to seven. As thoughts come up, watch them float by and refocus your attention on counting and the sensations of inhaling and exhaling. Do this for 10 rounds twice a day. Lions Breath Lion s Breath (Simhasana) is a wonderfully cleansing and uplifting Pranayama technique that comes with many positive benefits. Lions breath empties the lungs powerfully, enhances circulation, and promotes an open throat chakra. In an open position, inhale through the nose & exhale through the mouth powerfully, making a haaa sound. As you exhale, open your mouth wide and stick your tongue as far out as possible towards your chin. Let it all out! Repeat this 5 times.

7 #7 Schedule a Massage Help your body s own natural cleansing processes by getting a detoxifying massage. The pressured strokes applied to muscles, tissues and organs during massage therapy help stimulate the circulatory system. When pressure is applied to the tissue and fat, toxins are squeezed out from in between the muscle fibers and cells. They re released into the circulatory system for easier elimination. The lymph system is key! Your lymphatic system works with your cardiovascular circulatory system to flush out toxins. The Lymph system relies on gravity, exercise, breathing and can be greatly enhanced by massage. Remember to drink plenty of water before and after massage to help your body flush out toxins more rapidly. #8 Take a Hot Salt Bath A simple hot soak in a salted bath is beneficial to your heart and circulatory health. It can lower blood pressure, and eliminates harmful substances from the body. Fill your bath with hot water (as hot as can be tolerated) and dissolve 2 cups of natural bath salt into your tub. Hot water helps draw toxins to the surface of the skin, and as the water cools, the toxins are pulled into the water via the principle of osmosis. Soak for at least 12 minutes and up to minutes.

8 #9 Set an Intention, Let Go, & Focus on the Positive Allow yourself to let go during your detox. Set an intention to cleanse the body & remind yourself often. A detox is for getting rid of what the body doesn t need on a physical, mental and emotional level. Remind yourself that your intention is to choose vibrant health in order to improve yourself and the lives of those around you. Focus on the positives in life. Be grateful, and take the steps you know deep down lead to good outcomes. #10 Get to Bed on Time & Sleep Last but not least, get your rest. Getting a sound sleep is one of the most important aspects to our health and energy level. Scientists have studied for centuries the purpose of sleep, and countless studies conclude that sleep is deeply interconnected with our health. Sleep deprivation has the same effect on your immune system as physical stress and illness. Quite simply, if you do everything else right, and you don t sleep enough, your health and well-being will suffer. Get to bed on time, and get in those important 8 hours of sleep. A Few More Detox Tips Take a break from the media screen, big or small. Use only natural beauty & health care products Use natural cleaning supplies in your household Clear your mental intake, listen to brain wave music Practice yoga on a non-toxic yoga mat Clean out & de-clutter your spaces Find time daily to get outside & breathe fresh air Make time to meditate daily
