SCOPE This specification provides definition of Debts recovery (DEBREC) to be used in Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) between trading partners involved in administration, commerce and transport. 1.1 Functional Definition A message to exchange detailed information relating to debt recovery cases between appropriate parties (principal, enacting party). This message may cover one or more event (e.g. submission, status information) for one or more debt recovery cases. 1.2 Field of Application This message may be used for both national and international trade. It is based on universal practice and is not Page: 2

3 dependent on type of business or industry. 1.3 Principles of (e.g. The debt recovery message may be used: a. when issued by principal, to: - submit new debt recovery cases, - update debt recovery cases, - request processing actions for debt recovery cases, - request status of debt recovery cases b. when issued by enacting party, to: - acknowledge debt recovery case submissions, - give status information about debt recovery cases, - request information about debt recovery cases, - request instructions for debt recovery cases, - update debt recovery cases. In both cases (issuing party is principal or enacting party) each message relates to one principal and one or more debt recovery cases. Each debt recovery case relates to one debt. Each debt may be split into one or more debt components (set monetary amounts related to debt recovery case). The way content of message is used depends on and is triggered by possible events previously described (e.g. submission, update of debt recovery cases). The DEBREC message is not meant to be used for invoicing or payment activities. Note: It could happen that principal of a debt recovery case is enacting party of anor debt recovery case case transmission from one enacting party to anor for geographical reasons). 2.
