1 OH-Network Receiver User s Guide Starting The OH-Network Receiver To start the OH-Network Receiver, click Start and then select Programs, GE Interlogix, OH Network Receiver. A window similar to the one below will appear when the OH Network Receiver starts. Note that your window may contain different text depending on the options selected. When the OH Network Receiver is started, it checks for a valid license. If a license exists, it starts normally and displays the main window as shown above. If no license exists, the OH Network Receiver starts in DEMO mode and the top line in the Incoming Events Monitor window is ********** Running in DEMO mode **********. When in DEMO mode, the OH Network Receiver behaves normally except that it only accepts messages from account numbers (panels) 1 through 5. All others are ignored. In addition, the License Manager window, below, is opened.

2 This window remains open while the OH Network Receiver is running in DEMO mode. It may be reduced by clicking the _ symbol in the top right corner of the window. If the License Manager window is closed, the OH Network Receiver will terminate. The License Manager window is used to enter a license code, which fully activates the OH Network Receiver. To license the OH Network Receiver, you need to contact customer support and give them your machine code. A new License code will be generated which you can put in the License code area and then validate and save. Once a License Code is validated you should restart the OH Network Receiver. OH Network Receiver Windows Interface OH Network Receiver Main Window The OH Network Receiver main window includes display areas for incoming events and for processed events. The Incoming Events Monitor display is used for informational messages and to display incoming alarms and panel disconnects and reconnects messages. The Processed Events Monitor displays events which have been successfully processed by the OH Network Receiver, e.g. processed alarms. Incoming events displayed in the Incoming Events Monitor which are not successfully processed will not appear in the Processed Events Monitor. The menu bar includes menus for File, Activities, Setup, and Help. Selecting the File menu item reveals an Exit selection only. Selecting Exit terminates the OH Network Receiver. The Activities menu is used to access the secondary activity functions of the OH Network Receiver. The Setup menu is used to configure the OH Network Receiver. The Help menu provides information about the OH Network Receiver. Events are displayed in the Incoming Events Monitor and the Processed Events Monitor in the same format. The format begins with the date and time of the event followed by the message received from the alarm panel. Alarm panel messages may contain the date and time of the event when it occurred at the panel, account information, and an event ID code.

3 Viewing The Active Alarm Panels Selecting the Activities menu item reveals an Active Panels List option. Selecting this option opens the Panels List window as shown below. The Panels List window displays a list of the alarm panels which are actively polling (reporting to) the OH Network Receiver. Polling is used to identify alarm panels which exist in the field and to detect when those panels fail. Recv/Line indicates????????, Acc # is the account number, IP Address is the Internet address of the alarm panel, and Date/Time is the date and time the panel last reported to the receiver. Clicking on Refresh will update the list including the date and time of last report. Selecting a panel (click on its row in the display) and then clicking on Remove will remove it from the display. If the panel is still actively polling, a subsequent Refresh will restore it to the display. Remove is intended to remove from the display those panel(s) which are no longer part of the system. Configuring The OH Network Receiver The Setup menu item opens a drop down list of configuration items as shown below: Serial Ports Setup The OH Network Receiver communicates with a Central Station???????? using a serial port. The Setup - Serial Ports menu item opens the Serial Ports Setup window, below, which is used to define the serial port configuration.

4 The Port Name field provides a selection of the available serial ports, COM1, COM2, etc. Select the port which is connected to the Central Station. The Baud Rate field displays the serial port data rate options. The higher the baud rate, the faster the communication occurs. The Baud Rate should normally be set to its maximum value and should be lowered only if communication problems occur. The Flow Control In field defines the type of flow control, if any, used when receiving messages from the Central Station. Flow Control is used to prevent the sender of data, in this case the Central Station, from over running the receiver of the data, the OH Network Receiver. If data is sent faster than the receiver can receive it, it will be lost. The choices are None, Xon/Xoff, and RTS/CTS. The RTS/CTS selection is recommended if both PCs support hardware flow control. Xon/Xoff should be used if either PC does not support hardware flow control but both support software flow control. Select None if either the OH Network Receiver PC or the Central Station PC does not support flow control of either type. Note that most PCs today support hardware flow control and RTS/CTS should be used when possible. Microsoft Windows operating systems frequently offer a Device Manager which is accessible from the Control Panel Systems window. The Device Manager can be used to display the serial port properties, port settings, which contain the flow control and other options supported by the PC and operating system. The Flow Control Out field defines the type of flow control, if any, used when sending messages to the Central Station. Flow Control is used to prevent the sender of data, in this case the OH Network Receiver, from over running the receiver of the data, the Central Station. See Flow Control In above for information about setting this field. Normally, Flow Control In and Flow Control Out are set to the same value. The Data Bits field should be set to 8 bits. The Stop Bits field should be set to 1 bit. The Parity field should be set to None. When all of the serial port configuration fields have been set, click the Save button to save them. Click the Open Port button to enable the port. Click the Close Port button to disable the port. If, when opening the port, an error message is displayed indicating the port is in use, either another port must be selected (do not forget to move the cable to the correct port) or the application which has the port open must be terminated.

5 Network Port Setup The Setup - Network Port menu item opens the Network Port window, below, which is used to define the port alarm panels connect to when reporting alarms, polling the OH Network Receiver, etc. The Network Port should always be set to Receiver Type Selection Setup The Setup - Receiver Type menu item opens the Receiver Type Selection window, below, which is used to select the OH Network Receiver type. Select either OH 2000 or Surgard MRL2-DG depending of the receiver type for this OH Network Receiver. Automation Setup The Setup - Automation menu item opens the Automation Setup page, below, which is used to define the OH Network Receiver Central Station (Automation) interface. Automation present determines whether the OH Network Receiver should attempt to send alarms and other messages to a Central Station (Automation). If it is checked, messages will be sent. Automation Over IP, if checked, is used to direct the OH Network Receiver to send messages over Ethernet rather than the serial port. If it is not checked, the serial port will be used.

6 The Automation Timeout is a keep alive heartbeat time interval which the OH Network Receiver uses to poll the Central Station (Automation). It the poll is not successful, this indicates a broken connection. Video Setup The Setup - Video menu item opens the Video Setup page, below, which is used to configure the OH Network Receiver Video function. Video Enabled determines whether the OH Network Receiver will receive video from alarm panels and send it to a Central Station (Automation). The Video Port field is used to define the port alarm panels connect to when sending video. The Port should always be set to Linecut Timeout Setup The Setup - Linecut Timeout menu item opens the Linecut Timeout window which defines the timeout period used to detect a broken connection to a polling alarm panel. This value must be determined by the polling time programmed into the alarm panels which report to the OH Network Receiver. It must be greater than the alarm panel reporting interval. Two to three times the reporting interval should be sufficient. About The OH Network Receiver Selecting the Help menu item reveals an About option. Selecting About opens a window which displays information about the OH Network Receiver as shown below.

7 The Version number shown in this window should be referenced when reporting problems concerning the OH Network Receiver to GE Interlogix personnel. It will also be helpful when addressing questions about the OH Network Receiver with GE Interlogix personnel. OH Network Receiver Web Interface To access the OH Network Receiver Web Interface home page, start Microsoft Internet Explorer. If your are running Explorer on the same PC as the OH Network Receiver, on the Address line at the top type and press the RETURN key. If you are on a different PC, type Address Of OH Network Receiver (i.e. and press the RETURN key. The home page will display as shown below. The Home link will always return to the home page. The Login link is used to login which will permit configuration of the OH Network Receiver. The Exit Receiver link is

8 used to shut down the OH Network Receiver. It will display a shutdown verification shown as below. Clicking the Exit Receiver button will shut down the OH Network Receiver. You must be logged in to shut down the OH Network Receiver. The About link will display a page of information about the OH Network Receiver as shown below.

9 Configuring The OH Network Receiver The Login link is used to login which will permit configuration of the OH Network Receiver. Clicking on Login displays the login page below. To login, enter the User Name and Password then click Submit. If the User Name and/or Password is incorrect, the message Invalid User Name/Password will appear and the User Name and Password must be re-entered. If it is correct, the home page is displayed. The Login link is changed to Setup, as shown in the following web pages, and the configuration parameters can be accessed. If you do not interact with the Web Interface for approximately 10 minutes, you will be required to login again.

10 Clicking on the Setup link opens the setup page shown below. Note that all of the configuration pages which can be selected from the setup page have three buttons used to save new values (Save), reload the currently saved values (Current), or to load the default settings (Defaults). The Network Settings link opens the network configuration page below.

11 The Port field is used to define the port alarm panels connect to when reporting alarms, polling the OH Network Receiver, etc. The Port should always be set to The Line Cut Settings link opens the Line Cut Timeout page, below, which defines the timeout period used to detect a broken connection to a polling alarm panel. This value must be determined by the polling time programmed into the alarm panels which report to the OH Network Receiver. It must be greater than the alarm panel reporting interval. 12 The Serial Port Settings link opens the Serial Port Setup page, below, which defines the serial port parameters used to communicate with a Central Station (Automation). The Receiver Type Settings link opens the Receiver Type Setup page, below, which defines the receiver type, OH2000 or Surgard. Set the receiver type to OH2000 or Surgard depending on the messaging format expected by the Central Station (Automation).

14 The Automation Settings link opens the Automation Setup page, below. Automation present determines whether the OH Network Receiver should attempt to send alarms and other messages to a Central Station (Automation). If it is checked, messages will be sent. Automation Over IP, if checked, is used to direct the OH Network Receiver to send messages over Ethernet rather than the serial port. If it is not checked, the serial port will be used. The Automation Timeout is a keep alive heartbeat time interval which the OH Network Receiver uses to poll the Central Station (Automation). It the poll is not successful, this indicates a broken connection.

15 The Video Settings link opens the Video Setup page, below. Video Enabled determines whether the OH Network Receiver will receive video from alarm panels and send it to a Central Station (Automation). The Port field is used to define the port alarm panels connect to when sending video. The Port should always be set to 9995.

16 The View Events Log link opens the Event Log Window, below, which displays OH Network Receiver events. Events are normally displayed with the newest event (most recent) at the top. Checking Reverse Order will cause the oldest event to be displayed at the top. Max Events Displayed determined the size of the display window and how many events will be viewable in the window. The maximum window size is 15. If Max Events Displayed is greater than 15, the window size will be 15 events and the scroll bar will allow scrolling through the events. Event type allows the selection of events by type including All, Alive (panel alive and polling receiver), NOT Alive (panel not polling), Incoming (incoming messages, such as alarms, from a panel(s); this is the same as the Incoming Events Monitor display in the Main window), Processed (processed messages, such as alarms, from a panel(s); this is the same as the Processed Events Monitor display in the Main window), Startup (OH Network Receiver startup), and Log Init (initialization of this log). The First, Last, Previous, and Next links move the display through the log. Go To Event is used to display a selected event. Events are numbered and the number is the first value on each event line. Exit closes the Event Log window.
