1 Page 1 of 9 SUBJECT: PCM REPROGRAMMING FOR DTC P0335 / P0340 No: DATE: July, 2006 MODEL: See below CIRCULATE TO: [ ] GENERAL MANAGER [ ] PARTS MANAGER [X] TECHNICIAN [ ] SERVICE ADVISOR [X] SERVICE MANAGER [X] WARRANTY PROCESSOR [ ] SALES MANAGER This bulletin supercedes TSB , to add 2004 Lancer, include procedures for MEDIC II and update the Warranty Information section. Revisions are indicated by. PURPOSE On some affected vehicles, incorrect software parameters in the PCM may cause the MIL to illuminate and Diagnostic Trouble Code P0335 and/or P0340 (crankshaft or camshaft position sensor circuit) to set in the PCM. To eliminate this condition, reprogram the PCM as described in this bulletin. AFFECTED VEHICLES Lancer Outlander Eclipse 2007 Eclipse Spyder 2006 Galant PROCEDURE CAUTION BATTERY VOLTAGE (AS MEASURED AT THE BATTERY POSTS WITHOUT ELECTRICAL LOAD) MUST BE 12.4V OR HIGHER IN ORDER TO REPROGRAM THE PCM. IMPORTANT Verify whether the vehicle is K Line Flash or CAN Flash. Refer to the Reprogramming System Identification chart on the Service Tech Resources page on the Mitsubishi Dealer Link. The procedure for PCM reprogramming on CAN Flash vehicles is different than K Line Flash vehicles. Be sure to follow the correct reprogramming instructions for the vehicle being repaired. 1. Check the underside of the hood to verify that there is no label previously installed to indicate that this TSB reprogramming has already been done. 2. Using the MUT III, verify that the vehicle s part number is listed in the table in Step 7. If the Software is the same as or higher than the Software in the table, the PCM has already been reprogrammed for this concern. Do not continue with this bulletin procedure. Refer to Group 13 in the appropriate service manual to diagnose the DTC. 3. Use the MUT III to erase all DTCs set in the PCM.
