3 Connect the Direct Link/Centurion Hardware and the motorcycle's data link connector using the Data link connector cable (4 pin or 6 pin) in the kit. For Magnetti Marelli ECU, take the adapter off. Location of Data link connector: Touring models: underneath the right side cover. ( Underneath the left side cover) Softail models: underneath the seat. Dyna models: underneath the left side cover. Sportster models: underneath the left side cover. 8. Press the Connect icon on to connect to the bike. Follow the on screen instructions Did the ECU connect to the software? a. If YES, start working on your bike! b. If NO: i. Are the ignition and Stop/Run switches in the On/Run position? Not on the AUX position? ii. Is the bike in Neutral? iii. Did you hear the pump priming? iv. Is your software up to date? v. Is the USB connecting the VCM to the PC longer than 6ft long? 1. If YES, please replace with one NO longer than 6ft vi. Is the USB cable connected via a replicator port or splitter? (a monitor with USB Ports is considered a splitter) 1. If YES, please connect DIRECTLY to PC vii. Is the VCM 4 Pin to 4 Pin adapter connected?* 1. If YES, are you working on a Magnetti Marelli equipped bike? 2. If YES, take the adapter off 3. If NO, leave adapter plugged in *Pro Tip: Leave the adapter connected for everything, reflash and diagnostics, except Marelli. 9. Are there more than 2 USB keys plugged in? Only the USB for the system being used should be plugged in. 10. Is the correct USB Key plugged in? Delphi (red), Marelli (blue), or VDO (green & discontinued)? 11. Are there any aftermarket tunes or tuning devices plugged in, other than TechnoResearch Inc. s products? a. If YES, disconnect them

If NO, connect the adapter to the cables and reconnect to the motorcycle. 18. Was the issue resolved? a. If YES, continue tuning the motorcycle b. If NO, unplug the DirectLink Deutz connector and measure the voltage from the battery at pins 2 [Gnd] & 4[12+V]. The voltage should not be less than 12.5V. For comparison, measure directly at the battery. 19. Was the issue resolved? b. If NO, connect a battery charger and wait for battery to get a full charge and then retry the process. 20. Was the issue resolved? b. If NO, disconnect the ECM for 5 seconds and reconnect. 21. Was the issue resolved? b. If NO, please give us a call ( ) so we can connect with your computer and resolve the issue.

If NO, unplug the DirectLink Deutz connector and measure the voltage from the battery at pins 2 [Gnd] & 4[12+V]. The voltage should not be less than 12.5V.

If YES, check that you have a Magneti Marelli ECM equipped motorcycle, and that you have the cable adapter connected. 23. Was the issue resolved? b. If NO, connect the adapter to the cables and reconnect to the motorcycle. 24. Was the issue resolved? b. If NO, unplug the DirectLink Deutz connector and measure the voltage from the battery at pins 2 [Gnd] & 4[12+V]. The voltage should not be less than 12.5V.
