1 DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE TRANSDUCER DPT-MOD SERIES: DPT-MOD-10 / DPT-MOD-20 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS INTRODUCTION The DPT-MOD Differential Pressure Transmitter for air conforms to Modbus over serial line protocol, using RTU transmission mode and RS485 interface. The digital output signal is sent over Modbus enabling the DPT-MOD to connect directly to field communication network. DPT-MOD requires less wiring than traditional 3-wire transducers, since multiple devices can be connected on serial line. The Series is comprised of the standard version (DPT-MOD-x) and the DPT-MOD-x-IN version that includes an Input module. The Input module is a fixed expansion board that provides additional external signal conversion into Modbus. The Input module can be installed during or after the DPT-MOD-x is installed. The -IN module has two input channels designed to accept 0 10V, ntc10k, Pt1000, Ni1000/(-LG), and BIN IN (potential free contact) signals. For example, DPT-MOD with input module can read values from one differential pressure-measurement point and two temperature-measurement points. Hence, the DPT-MOD does the work of three transmitters. 2 SCHEMATICS INSTALLATION Figure 1 1) Mount the device in desired location, see Step 1. 2) Open the lid and route power and communication cables through strain relief and connect the wires to terminal block, see Step 2. 3) The device is now ready for configuration, see Step 3. WARNING! Apply power after the device is properly wired. 3 WIRING Step 2 For CE compliance, a properly grounded shielding cable is required 1) Unscrew strain relief and route cable. 2) Connect the wires as shown in Figure 4. 3) Tighten the strain relief. SELECT DEVICE ADDRESS Step 3.1 1) Activate the Device Address Menu by installing the Jumper, see, Figure 6. 2) Cycle through options to select device Modbus Address. Figure 4 - Wiring Modbus: I/O A Modbus: I/O B + 24V Power Supply GND 24VDC / 24VAC Shield Options: 1 to 247 Figure 6 - Device Address CONFIGURATION Step 3 The device is configured using the /, the Internal Display, and that are installed and removed from the four (4) sets of jumper pins located at the upper right of the opened device, see Figure 1 and Figure 5. SELECT BAUD RATE Step 3.2 1) Activate the Baud Rate Menu by installing the Jumper; see Figure 7. 2) Cycle through the options to select device Baud Rate. Operations: button / : The button / will advance the display though the available choices by Pressing Down or Tilting Up or Back. The button / will only cycle the choices up, if you accidently pass your preferred selection continue to activate the button / until your selection reappears. : are used to select menus for Device Address, Baud Rate, Bit, and. Install the Jumper on the appropriate pins to display the choices. Example: Device Address, see Figure 5. After choice appears in display, remove Jumper and move it to the next menu, when done with the last menu, Response Time, place Jumper in Store position. 4 SELECT RESPONSE TIME Step 3.4 1) Activate the Menu by installing the Jumper; see Figure 9. 2) Cycle through the options to select device. 3) Remove Jumper and place in Stored position. Figure 9 - C) Automatic: Zero Point Calibration Note! If the device includes the optional no action is required. circuit, (-ez) is a True Auto Zero function in the form of an automatic zeroing circuit built into the PCB board. The function electronically adjusts the transducer zero point at predetermined time intervals (every 10 minutes). Options: 0.8, 2.0 or 10 The function eliminates all output signal drift due to thermal, electronic or mechanical effects, as well as the need for technicians to remove high- and low-pressure tubes when performing initial or periodic transducer zero point calibration. The adjustment takes 4 seconds. To avoid conflict with the BAS system, the output and display values will freeze to the latest measured value, after which the device returns to its normal measuring mode. ZERO POINT CALIBRATION Step 3.5 Note! Supply voltage must be connected one-hour before the Zero Point Calibration is carried out. There are three options for Zero Point calibration: A) Manual: Push Auto Zero B) MODBUS: via Write coil C) Automatic: via the function Does my transducer have an function? Look at the small gray product-label on the side of the device. If ez is in the model number, then you have the function. A) Manual: Push Auto Zero Note! Supply voltage must be connected one hour before the Zero Point Calibration is carried out. 1) Disconnect both pressure tubes from the pressure ports labeled + and. 2) Push down the / until the LED light (red) turns on and the display reads zeroing (display option only). 3) The zeroing of the device will proceed automatically. Zeroing is complete when the LED turns off, and the display reads 0 (display option only). 4) Reinstall the pressure tubes, ensuring the High pressure tube is connected to the port labeled +, and the Low pressure tube is connected to the port labeled. Note! The zero point should be calibrated via Manual Push Auto Zero, one hour after installation and power is applied, and at least every 12 months during normal operations. B) MODBUS: Zero Point Calibration via Modbus Note! Supply voltage must be connected at least one hour prior to zero point adjustment. 1) Make sure that the system is locked out and not running while performing the zero point calibration, so that there is zero (0) pressure applied to the device. As an alternative, disconnect both pressure tubes from the pressure ports labeled + and. 2) Send the zeroing command via Modbus. Write 1 to register 0x0001. The register 0x0001 state returns back to 0 automatically after zeroing. 3) The zeroing of the device will proceed automatically. Zeroing is complete when the LED turns off, and the display reads 0 (display option only). 4) The system may now be restarted. Reinstall the pressure tubes, if disconnected. Ensure that the High pressure tube is connected to the port labeled +, and the Low pressure tube is connected to the port labeled. MEASURING STATE Step 3.6 The device display will return to the Measuring State when the Jumper is placed in the Stored position. If the pressure tubes are disconnected or the unit is off the display will show kpa. It will take about 5 seconds to return to Measuring State, after zero point calibration or the Jumper is placed in the Stored position. CONNECT PRESSURE TUBE Step 4 1 ) Connect pressure tubes. Connect positive pressure to port labeled + and negative pressure to port -. 2) Close the lid. The device is ready to use. MODBUS FUNCTIONS DPT-MOD supports to the following functions and registers. FURTHER LIMITATIONS: The warranty herein does not cover damage caused by lightning, flood or other natural phenomenon; normal wear and tear; accident, improper or careless handling, abnormal use, overloading, improper storage or abuse; incorrect installation, care or reconstruction; or alteration, calibration, reconfiguration, maintenance or installation work done by unqualified personnel. Should Manufacturer alter the structure of any Product in the future, HK and Manufacturer shall not be obligated to make comparable changes to Products already purchased. HK will give a new warranty for Products being replaced or repaired within the warranty period, however only to the expiration of the original Product s warranty period. The warranty includes the repair of a defective part or device, or if needed, a new part or device, but no other costs except as otherwise stated in the HK Distributor Terms and Conditions.
