3 What's new in Feature Pack 2 We are pleased to announce the new features that are included in Feature Pack 2 (FP2) for Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System (RMS) 2.0. For more information about any of these features, consult Headquarters Manager Online Help or Store Operations Manager Online Help within FP2. New in Headquarters FP2 provides the following new and improved features in Microsoft Dynamics RMS Headquarters. Improved worksheet handling You can now approve or acknowledge worksheets in bulk or choose to acknowledge worksheets automatically. New forms on the Admin menu in Headquarters Manager let you select batches of worksheets for approval or acknowledgement. If you prefer, you can set a configuration option so that worksheets completed by stores are automatically acknowledged. Manage store prices and sale prices from Headquarters New tabs on the Item Properties form in Headquarters Manager allow you to set store-by-store prices, price levels, sale prices, sale dates, and more. Then send the updated settings to stores by using the new Style 251: Update Inventory - Item Prices worksheet. Automatic item lookup codes Use the new Item tab in the Configuration dialog box in Headquarters Manager to set formats for item lookup codes and apply them to new items automatically. Use item lookup code formats to set up series of lookup codes, add a year designator to items created this year, or simply and automatically continue the item numbering scheme you already have in place. To use automatic item lookup codes, simply leave the item lookup code field blank when you create a new item. Inactive stores When stores close, you can now mark the stores inactive and then exclude them from lists and reports. After you make a store inactive and run Worksheet 401, the store can no longer receive or send data. Inactive stores can be made active again if needed. Inactive tender types You can mark tender types as inactive in Headquarters Manager and then send the new setting to stores by using Worksheet 205. Inactive tender types can be made active again if needed. New filters in certain reports let you include or exclude active or inactive records as needed. Inactive cashiers At stores, cashiers can be marked active or inactive. New filters in certain Headquarters reports let you include or exclude active or inactive cashiers as needed. 4 New report for tracking in-transit inventory Track inventory that has been issued from one store but not yet received at another. To view the new report, go to the Reports menu in Headquarters Manager, click Items, and then click Items In Transit. Interstore inventory transfer discrepancy management Discrepancies often occur between quantities issued from one store and quantities received at another. You can now mark which discrepancies have been resolved and which still need investigation. Filter transfer reports by the discrepancy status on the transfer orders to see those that need action. Support for multiple currencies in the purchase order workflow The PO Planner, Purchase Order Details form, and printed purchase orders now display the correct symbols for supplier currencies. New in Store Operations FP2 provides the following new and improved features in Microsoft Dynamics RMS Store Operations. POS task pads Use POS task pads to customize the Store Operations POS interface. In Store Operations Manager, use the new designer to create a series of task pads that provide quick access to the features and records that you use most. Use different layouts, colors, fonts, and images to add interest and increase usability. A variety of button types are available, including: Task Pad link to another task pad. Back and Home buttons let cashiers navigate between task pads. Task start POS operations currently available from the function bar. Custom POS Button and Macro launch pre-existing customizations. Item and Customer add a specific record to the transaction. Category, Department, and Supplier open a touchscreen-ready list of items that belong to a specific category or department or that are associated with a specific supplier. Items by Category, Items by Department, and Items by Supplier open a touchscreenready list of parent records that lets cashiers drill-down to a list of items. Task pads can be assigned to registers or cashiers, and managers can choose the view cashiers see in Store Operations POS: Task Pad or Classic View. Cashiers who have access to Display Properties in Store Operations POS can toggle between views as needed, choose to have the task pad on the left or right side of the screen, and set the width of the task pad. 5 Automatic item lookup codes Use the new Item tab in the Configuration dialog box in Store Operations Manager to set formats for item lookup codes and apply them to new items automatically. To use automatic item lookup codes, simply leave the item lookup code field blank when you create a new item. Gift receipts You can now print gift receipts for sales transactions. In Register Properties in Store Operations Manager, choose to print gift receipts for all transactions, transactions where the cashier clicks Yes in a confirmation dialog box, or selected transactions from the journal. You can print gift receipts to either receipt printer. Inactive cashiers and inactive tender types New options let you mark cashiers and tender types as active or inactive. Use these options to clean up your lists of cashiers and tender types by hiding records that are no longer in use. New filters in the Cashiers list and Tender Types list let you view all records or only the active or inactive ones. New filters in certain reports let you include or exclude active or inactive records as needed. Prevent sale of all inactive items Previously, inactive items that were not specifically blocked for sale could be sold by cashiers who entered or scanned the item lookup code for the inactive item. You can now prevent sale of any inactive item by setting a single configuration option. A new filter in the Items list lets you view all records or only the active or inactive ones. Set custom back order deposits Previously, you could require either a full deposit or zero deposit for back orders. Now you can set the deposit percentage, and override the deposit amount at the POS, like you can for other order types. Note: We have removed the "Require full deposit on back orders" option from the Configuration dialog box. If you had this option selected previously, the back order deposit has been set to 100%. If you did not have this option selected, the deposit has been set to 0%. Platform support FP2 adds support for the following software: Windows 8 (pre-release versions) Windows Embedded POSReady 7 Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Intuit QuickBooks 2012 Note: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 is not supported on Windows 8. 6 Other improvements In addition to the new features listed above, Feature Pack 2 includes fixes for the following issues: Tender rounding amount is not included in the batch totals when using Round to value for the tender type. The buttons "Add Item" and "QuickScan" on the Transfer Order and Purchase Order forms are not available when these buttons are disabled for users with a different security level. Buttons are not available in the Receive Purchase Order form when the buttons are disabled for users with a different security level. Voucher sales cause incorrect over/short amounts in the Batch List report. The Item Movement History report does not show InventoryTransferLog Type 11 movements.
