1 Summer 2011 SPSS Statistics 19.0 Installation Instructions for and SPSS Statistics 19.0 requires the user to have administrative rights to install. If you are installing on a machine running Vista, you must right click on the installation icon and select run as administrator. If you are installing on a university-owned machine and you do not have adminstrative rights on the computer, you must have Desktop Services install this software. Call to create a service ticket or helpdesk@msstate.edu. 1. To install SPSS Statistics 19.0, insert the SPSS Statistics 19.0 disk into your DVD drive. : the disk autoplay should begin. If it does not, go to My Computer and select Setup from the disk menu. In the SPSS Installation window, click on Install IBM SPSS Statistics 19.0 to begin installing the software. 7 will ask you to verify this program. Click Yes to continue. : Open the CD Directory and select the SPSS Statistics Installer from the available icons. Your computer will prompt you for your keychain password before allowing installation. The installer will ask you to choose the installation language. Select the language and click OK.

2 Information Technology Services 2. In the Introduction window, click Next to continue. 3. In the Installshield Wizard window, select the radio button next to Site License. Click Next. 4. In the License Agreement window, select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next. 2

3 5. The Customer Information window appears. Complete the fields for User Name: and Organization. User Name will be your name; Organization will be Mississippi State University. Click Next to continue. 6. The installation program will prompt you to choose a language for the help files it installs. If you want languages other than English you will need to select the language from the menu options. Click Next to continue. 7. In the Destination Folder window, choose the installation location. In, C:\Program Files\IBM\SPSS\ Statistics\19\ is usually the default and recommended. In, the default is usually /Applications/SPSS/ Statistics\19\. Click Next to continue. 3

4 8. The InstallShield Wizard is now ready to install SPSS Statistics Click Install to begin the installation process. 9. During the installation process, a status bar will track the progress. Installation times vary with only a few minutes being the average time. 10. The InstallShield Wizard will prompt you to license and register the software. You are required to provide a valid License Code to use SPSS Statistics 19.0 but you are not required to register with SPSS. Deselect Register with spss. com at the bottom of the screen and click OK. You will not see this screen if you are installing SPSS 19 on a system. The installer will advance automatically to the next step. 4

5 11. In the Choose Licensing Method window, select the radio button next to License my product now, and click Next. 12. In the Enter Codes widow, enter the Authorization Code found on the inside cover of the PASW Statistics 18.0 CD case. Click Next. 5

6 13. In the Internet Authorization Status window, the Authorization in progress appears and when complete, you should see Authorization succeeded in green. Click Next. 14.
