2 Centre Information Sheet 2016 Ages Christ Church About Situated in the Garden of England, tops the charts when it comes to beautiful Cathedral cities. The World Heritagelisted cathedral that dominates its centre is considered by many to be one of Europe s finest, and the town s narrow medieval alleyways, riverside gardens and ancient city walls are a joy to explore. But is not just a showcase of the past; it s a spirited place with an energetic student population, fantastic tourist attractions and a buzz which you will never forget. The College Situated right in the city centre, Christ Church University is perfectly placed for students to stroll into the beautiful city and explore its charms. The University offers fantastic facilities and accommodation, including the large, recently renovated dining hall along with numerous function halls, lecture theatres and classrooms for lessons and social activities. A short walk away is a well equipped Sports Centre, offering students countless indoor and outdoor spaces. Accommodation Students will be located in the modern St George s Centre, a short 2 minute walk from the city centre. The accommodation is arranged around two courtyards, giving students a private and contemporary landscaped area to meet and socialise. It offers up to 200 beds, all en-suite, as well as common areas, 24 hour security and card operated laundry facilities / /

3 Centre Information Sheet Tuition Students will receive 15 hours of tuition a week. A zigzag timetable is usually organised, so some lessons will be in the afternoon. Students will receive a copy of our coursebook Everyday English which is theirs to keep and this provides the framework for the course. As our main aim is to develop confidence and fluency the lessons are a combination of communicative activities, vocabulary development, pronunciation work, language games, role play and project work. All students are tested on arrival and placed in the class level that is most suitable for them, and their progress is monitored throughout the course. The maximum class size is 16. The city is very close to, as well as the fantastic seaside cities of and Margate. Also close by is Dover Castle, recent location of filming for the Avengers: Age of Ultron, and the world famous White Cliffs of Dover. Within the city itself, offers a range of excellent attractions including the stunning Cathedral, Riverboat cruises and the excellent Tales; an exploration of Chaucer s most famous works. Students will have the opportunity to visit the city throughout their programme.
