4 THE JOHN G. BULLOCK MEMORIAL COLLECTION. 17 boxes. Gift of Elizabeth G. Bullock, Materials are primarily the photographs of John Griscom Bullock ( ), but also include manuscripts and some correspondence, biographies and photographs of John G. Bullock; correspondence, genealogical notes and memorabilia of his son John Emlen Bullock ( ), and materials relating to other family members, including John Bullock ( ), founder of Widener University and John G. Bullock's grandfather; Rebecca D. Bullock, ( ), John G. Bullock's wife; William R. Bullock ( ), John G. Bullock's father; Richard H. Downing, Rebecca Bullock's father and others. A more detailed finding aid follows. Various parts of the collection were appraised by Raymond M. Spiller and Associates in August and October, 1991, June, 1992 and October, 1993 and are now in Elizabeth Bullock's file. Also in her file is a folder of information on materials removed by a dealer. This folder is restricted to use in consultation with Prof. William E. Williams. The Bullock photographs which have been matted were done by Dan Kuruna, fine arts assistant at Haverford. The majority of the Bullock photos have never been published. The Haverford Bullock collection now exceeds that of George Renhardt, according to Prof. Williams. All the photographs have been recorded. Each record has the following fields: box number, box title, artist name, title and date of work, number of items, size of item, method of production and notes. For the method of production, when not fully spelled out, a constant set of abbreviations has been applied: gel. d-o-p = gelatin developing out paper; gel. p-o-p = gelatin printing out paper; matte collodion p-o-p with g & p toning = matte collodion printing out paper with

5 gold and platinum toning. Where title or other information has been supplied by staff, this is indicated with square brackets. 1173
