SCOPE AND CONTENT This collection includes memorabilia related to Massachusetts politicians. The collection includes pamphlets, brochures, speeches, mailings, invitations, and ephemera from conventions, inaugurations, memorials and other events. Newspapers, brochures and photographs are also part of the collection. Page 1 of 5

2 BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE Pizzi was born in 1919 and raised in the North End of Boston. She later moved to East Boston. She married Benjamin Pizzi in 1941, and they had four children. Pizzi attended Michelangelo Elementary School and Girls High for her primary education. She attended culinary school and was a chef for American Airlines. She was also certificated as a broker and a notary. Pizzi began working in the State Library of Massachusetts in She worked with legislative aide Cliff Douglas collecting and compiling literature and helped prepare books for binding. While she worked at the State Library, she attended Harvard night classes to familiarize herself with the library profession. Politics interested Pizzi early in her life, and she worked on numerous political campaigns. She also served on the Democratic State Committee for Women for eight years and unsuccessfully ran for state senate and state representative. Pizzi attended many political events, including the inaugurations of both Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. She also worked on the George W. Bush presidential campaign. Pizzi assisted Mitt Romney in his gubernatorial campaign, and she assembled the notebook of his inaugural events that is housed in Series II, Folder 16. Information in the biographical note was gathered from an informal interview with Mrs. Pizzi, conducted during the processing of an earlier donation of her papers (see Ms. Coll. 128).
