1 St Mary s College Equality Act 2010 Excellence in Learning Equality Act 2010 The College is committed to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion as both a moral and legal duty. The Equality Act 2010 introduced a new public sector duty with the aim of: Sex Pregnancy and maternity Marriage and civil partnerships Information is collected, monitored and analysed and the results form the basis of our action plan. 1. Eliminating unlawful Equality objectives are then set and discrimination, victimisation and progress on achieving objectives harassment and actions is monitored by the 2. 2 Equality & Diversity Action Plan/Objectives Issue 1.On level 3 courses, there is a gap of 4% in both the retention and achievement of males compared with females. 2.Achievement rates for Asian Heritage learners on level 2 programmes, particularly those from Pakistani backgrounds, is below those of white British learners, despite retention rates being higher. Objective To improve the retention and achievement rates for males to within at least 2% of those for females. To improve achievement rates for these learners to within at least 3%

Summary September 2012 Target was to get achievement rates for Ethnic Minority students on level 2 courses to within 3% of White British students: Level 2 Ethnic Minority achievement 98% Level 2 White British achievement - 99 % Achievement gap of 1% Target 1 was not achieved. The retention gap stayed the same at 4%, although the achievement gap narrowed by 1% to within 3%. Target 2 was achieved with the gap narrowed to 1%

British Asian value-added scores within 0.2 of white British students (i.e. within 1 grade at AS level. A2 Level: British Asian students equal or better than white British value-added scores.
