1 Materials list: Precious possessions Craft Instructions Mosheh and the Yisra elites Cross the Sea of Reeds Exodus 14:21-22 White card stock White copy paper (2 pieces) Coloring pencils, crayons or markers Scissors Glue Ruler Optional: Fish stickers (and/or other aquatic creatures) Templates: Main Page (Mosheh) and Template A (Yisra elites/cloud) Parent/Teacher preparation: Print Main Page template on card stock Print Template A on regular copy paper Here is the link for the video for this craft page: Instructions for the craft: Making the mechanism to hold Mosheh and the Yisra elites as they cross on dry land: Fold a piece of white copy paper in half lengthwise, making sure it is well creased on the fold. Open the paper back up and fold width-wise, again making sure that the fold is well creased. Open the paper and lay it flat. Using a ruler, measure 2 (5 cm) from the crease on the long side on all four sides. Mark each place lightly with a pencil. Using a ruler, draw a line very lightly from one mark to the other on each side of the crease. Using a ruler, measure 1½ (3¾ cm) from crease on wide side of paper on all four sides. Mark each place with a light mark. Using a ruler, draw a very light line across from mark to mark on either side of the crease. Cut out the rectangles at each corner of the paper. See the picture to the right for how it will look. Note: We drew these lines a bit darker for the picture. You will need to make the lines lighter. Page 10

2 Precious possessions Craft Instructions page 2: Instructions for the craft cont d: Take a short tab and fold it diagonally, lining up the middle crease line. Crease the new fold well. Open it back up and repeat for other short end. When you are finished, you will have eight folds meeting in the center. Take the folds on the short tabs and pinch them inward so that it causes the large tabs to pull towards the inside. Push tabs in and let the whole thing fold in naturally. You should have a piece that is shaped like a house. Have your child(ren) color and decorate the picture on the Main Page. They can draw some aquatic animals or wait until the end to add stickers. Fold the card stock in half (like a card) so that the picture is on the outside. Press the fold so it makes a nice crease. Open it back up. Align the house piece so it fits inside the folded Main Page. Pull the large tab up and put glue on the house shape and press it against the card stock so it sticks, making sure you only glue around the house shape. Repeat for other side. When you open and close the card, the tabs will now fold inside. This will be the section where the piece of dry land the Yisra'elites crossed over will be glued to. Decorating the inside of the craft: Have your child(ren) color and decorate on either side of the center piece, including the large tabs that are now glued down. They can add stickers or just color some aquatic life everywhere. Page 11

3 Precious possessions Craft Instructions page 3: Instructions for the craft cont d: Creating Mosheh and the Yisra elites on dry land: You will be creating a strip down the center for Mosheh and the Yisra elites. Using Template A, measure 3 (7½ cm) from the line at the bottom of the page on each side and lightly mark it with a pencil. Trace a line joining the marks you made and cut out the rectangle you just made. Fold this rectangle in half, open it and then fold each end towards the center crease you just made. The rectangle should be folded in four sections. Cut Mosheh, the Yisra elites pieces and the cloud out of Template A. Have your child(ren) color the rectangle that will be the dry land. Glue the characters from Template A to the dry land on the four sections in the following order: 1) Yisra elites-1 2) Yisra elites-2 3) Mosheh and 4) the pillar of cloud/fire. Line up the dry land to the small tabs (look like arrows) in the center of the card. Glue on the bottom left corner of the dry land to the bottom left corner of the small tab. Only glue the left sides together so that the inner section will fold up properly. Repeat at the top gluing the opposite corner. Once glued in place, you should be able to fold the card and the tabs will cause the dry land section to swing in. Once it is folded correctly, press down while it is closed so the creases are set. Your child(ren) will now have the scene in front where the Yisra'elites and Mosheh are faced with the Sea of Reeds. When they open it, the sea will split and Mosheh and the Yisra'elites will cross the Sea of Reeds on dry land. The cloud will be behind them shielding them from the Mitsrites. Note: This is the small tab to which the dry land will be glued. Page 12
