1 Portable Controls for Mixers Issued: 12/11 6/09 PORTABLE CONTROLS Flygt offers a complete line of manual and semiautomatic controls to compliment our line of mixers for all applications. Contact your nearest Flygt products representative for specific details of the control supplied with a particular mixer configuration. MANUAL CONTROLS The manual controls available for mixers are identical in concept to the manual controls supplied with submersible pumps. Note: Refer to latest Price List for Control Part Numbers. SEMI-AUTOMATIC CONTROLS Assured Immersion Control The assured immersion control uses one Flygt ENM-10 level sensor to insure that the mixer will run only when it is submerged. The mixer is started manually and will run until being shut off either manually, or automatically when the surface of the liquid mixture drops down to the level, determined by the set position of the ENM-10 level sensor. Guaranteed Submergence Control This control is used when it is necessary to install a standard mixer in a hazardous area. Two ENM-10 level sensors, wired in series for redundancy, are positioned so that the mixer is never exposed to the hazardous atmosphere. In addition, intrinsically safe relays limit the energy to the level sensors so there is no chance for sparking and igniting any gases in the atmosphere. The intrinsically safe relays are approved by Factory Mutual and U.L. for use in most hazardous areas. Contact your nearest Flygt representative for assistance with your application. Variable Speed Controls Variable frequency drive (VFD) type controls are available for several of the Flygt mixer models. Contact your nearest Flygt products representative for assistance with your controlled speed applications. Note: Consult Factory if any of the above are required to be supplied.

2 Manual Controls Specification Issued: 1/91 MANUAL CONTROLS Provide a manual control attached to the mixer cable at the manufacturers factory. The control shall be designed and manufactured for submersible mixer applications and supplied by the mixer manufacturer to insure compatibility and proper motor protection. The control shall have the following features: Short circuit and overload protection shall be provided by a combination hydraulic/magnetic circuit breaker/ overload. The circuit breaker/overload shall also provide manual reset and ON-OFF control of the mixer. overload in the stator but must not require resetting following a power failure. Controls supplied with single phase mixers shall contain properly sized start and run capacitors. The control shall be contained in a NEMA 3R rainproof sheet metal enclosure. A fiberglass enclosure shall be available as an option. There shall be provisions for connection and operation of the stator thermal switches. The circuit breaker/ overload must be reset after tripping due to a thermal

4 Assured Immersion Controls Specification Issued: 9/93 1/91 ASSURED IMMERSION CONTROL Provide a mixer control that will assure that the mixer will run only when it is submerged to a specific depth. The control shall be designed and manufactured for submersible mixer applications and supplied by the mixer manufacturer to insure compatibility and proper motor protection. The control shall have the following features: Short circuit and overload protection shall be provided by a combination hydraulic/magnetic circuit breaker/ overload. The circuit breaker/overload shall also provide manual reset and ON-OFF control of the mixer. A level sensor shall be provided and connected to the control. The sensor shall be suspended above the mixer so that if the level drops below the sensor, the mixer will be stopped. The level sensor shall be an Flygt ENM-10. For safety, a transformer shall be provided to convert the line voltage to 24 volts for operation of the level sensor. The transformer shall be protected on both its primary and secondary stages. There shall be provisions for connection and operation of the stator thermal switches. The circuit breaker/ overload must be reset after tripping due to a thermal overload in the stator but must not require resetting following a power failure. 8 Variable Frequency Drive Controls Specification Issued: 9/93 VARIABLE FREQUENCY DRIVES Mixer Control with Variable Frequency Drive Provide a variable frequency drive mixer control designed and manufactured for submersible mixer applications where a range of variable mixing speeds is required. The control shall be supplied by the mixer manufacturer to insure compatibility and proper motor protection. The control shall have the following standard features: Short circuit protection shall be provided by a thermal magnetic circuit breaker. A control circuit which enables the variable frequency drive when the motor thermal switch is closed (normal condition). Optional monitoring devices such as those listed below under optional items may be incorporated into the enabling circuitry. A variable frequency drive which includes the following standard features: Pulse width modulated design with output current rating that meets or exceeds the current rating of the mixer. Microprocessor based logic and digital controls for input parameter adjustments. Electronic motor overload protection. A current limit circuit to limit motor current to a preset adjustable maximum level. Programmable acceleration and deceleration rates upon start, stop and speed change selection. Adjustable Volts/Hertz profile. Analog input signal circuitry for remote speed control. Analog and digital output signals for drive status indication. Automatic restart upon malfunction or interruption of power with user selectable restart attempts (0-3) before manual reset is required. Critical frequency avoidance circuitry with a minimum of 3 user selectable jump points. Protective features including: AC input fuses, logic common at ground potential, phase loss protection, power loss ride through (6 cycles), short circuit and ground fault protection, transient and voltage surge protection, and starting into a rotating motor. The variable frequency drive may have additional features as required by the user. The control shall have available, but not be limited to, the following optional items: Automatic meggering of the mixer motor. A Flygt Submeg insulation tester shall be included with the control. A Flygt ENM-10 level sensor based control circuit to ensure the mixer is submerged during operation.
