1 Packaging Specification Jan13 Rev L CommScope Packaging and Shipping Requirements 1. SCOPE 1.1. Content This specification describes the packaging and shipping requirements for CommScope Quick Connectors (LC, SC, ST) non secured products as shown in Figure 2 and the CommScope Keyed Connectors and Adapters (LC) secured products. Figure 1 shows the TE Connectivity Specification Number to be used, Paragraph Number and CommScope Product Description. Individually Packaged LC Keyed Connectors , 5.8. Paragraph 4 defines the CommScope non SECURE packaging requirements. B. Paragraph 5 defines the CommScope SECURE packaging requirements. C. Paragraph 6 defines the CommScope shipping requirements. 2. DEFINITIONS A. Non secured product: 900 um (unit micron) connectors packaged in blister pack (LightCrimp Plus LC, SC, ST, SM and MM) B. Secured product: Keyed (LC SECURE) multimode (MM) and single mode (SM) connectors (BTW 900 um (behind the wall), Simplex ( mm jacket) or Duplex Kits ( mm jacket) and adapters (Standard and Hybrid) 3. APPLICABLE DOCUMENT The following document constitutes a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. PACKAGING PROCEDURE (NON-SECURE PRODUCT) , Pre-Pack for QK_LC BTW Connector Kit (25 Pack), (SM), (LS), (MM), /00 (SM), /00 (LS) and /00 (MM) A. Place the number of each part as specified in the Manufacturing Pro (MFG PRO) or Packaging and Labeling Inquiry System (PALI) in accordance with the following: 1. Open blister pack PN so that the hinge is to the left, place on work surface. 2. With the blister pack open and hinged to the left, place 25 LC BTW connectors in upper right compartment (connectors are to have a protective cover and protective cap installed). 3. With the blister pack open and hinged to the left, place 25 connector boots in lower right compartment. 4. Place 25 hytrel tubes in a 2 inch x 2 inch resealable plastic bag PN With the blister pack open and hinged to the left, place bagged tubes in upper left compartment. 5. Fold instructions (2 folds on an 8.5 x 11 double sided print bond paper) and add to blister pack along with insert card PN Close blister pack, apply product label to upper left of pack. Rev L 2 of 19
3 B. Product label on blister pack should be similar to Figure 3A. Figure 3A C. Shipping box label should be similar to Figure 3B. Figure , Pre-Pack for QK_SC BTW Connector Kit (25 Pack), (SM), (LS), (MM), /00 (SM), /00 (LS) and /00 (MM) A. Place the number of each part as specified in MFG PRO/PALI in accordance with the following: 1. Open blister pack PN so that the hinge is to the left, place on work surface. 2. With the blister pack open and hinged to the left, place 25 SC BTW connectors in upper right compartment (connectors are to have a protective cover and protective cap installed). 3. With the blister pack open and hinged to the left, place 25 connector boots in lower right compartment. 4. Open blister pack PN so that the hinge is to the left, place on work surface. 2. With the blister pack open and hinged to the left, place 25 ST BTW connector assemblies in upper right compartment (connectors are to have a protective cover and protective cap installed). 3. With the blister pack open and hinged to the left, place 25 connector bare buffer boots in lower right compartment. 4. pack open and hinged to the left, place bagged tubes in upper left compartment. 5. Fold instructions (2 folds on an 8.5 x 11 double sided print bond paper) and add to blister pack along with insert card PN Close blister pack, apply product label to upper left of pack. B. Product label on blister pack should be similar to Figure 5A. Figure 5A C. Shipping box label should be similar to Figure 5B. Figure 5B Rev L 5 of 19
6 4.4. Final Pack (All Connector Kits) A. Form one box PN and seal bottom flaps with a 2 inch wide strip of tape PN (or equivalent). B. Place a minimum of 2, up to a maximum of 10 blister pack kits (from pre-pack) into box. (Alternate packing, use an appropriately sized blank carton for a quantity of one blister pack kit). C. Fill void with stuffer paper. D. Close flaps and seal with tape, same as bottom flaps. E. Label one end of box with a product package or 3S label. Reference MFG PRO/PALI for label requirements. Palletize in accordance with Packaging Specification , paragraph on General Palletization Parameters. F. Whenever an overpack carton is used, CARTON MUST BE BLANK, NO LOGOS ALLOWED. G. Stretchwrap and/or band pallet load. H. Apply Carrier ship to label and packing list. See Figure 14 and 15 for packing list and Carrier ship to requirements. TE Connectivity logo should not be printed on labels or packing list. 5. PACKAGING PROCEDURE (SECURE PRODUCTS) , Pre-Pack (all LC SECURE individual adapters) A. Place the number of each part as specified in MFG PRO/PALI in accordance with the following: 1. Place adapter into (5x4) poly bag or (5x4) poly bag and seal. 2. Apply label (2 x 4) similar to Figure 6A to poly bag. 3. Place 100 of the individual bagged adapters into re-sealable bag, close bag. 4. Apply label (2 x 4) similar to Figure 6B to poly bag. B. 7 C. Product intermediate label on should be similar to Figure 6B. Figure 6B , Final Pack (all LC SECURE individual adapters) A. Form one box PN (no graphics allowed) and seal bottom flaps with a 2 inch wide strip of tape PN (or equivalent). B. Place 1 ziplock bag PN into a box. C. Fill void with stuffer paper. D. Close flaps and seal with tape. E. Apply shipping label (4 x 4) similar to Figure 7. Reference MFG PRO/PALI for label requirements. Palletize in accordance with Packaging Specification , paragraph on General Palletization Parameters. F. Juarez and Delicias manufacturing - apply License Tag (1x3) to box, see Figure 7 for placement. G. Delicias Manufacturing Only Shipments from Delicias to 8420 Triad, Greensboro, N.C. Commscope boxes to be placed in overpack shipping box. H. Whenever an overpack carton is used for shipment to the customer, CARTON MUST BE BLANK, NO LOGOS ALLOWED. I. Stretchwrap and/or band pallet load. J. Apply Carrier ship to label and packing list. See Figure 14 and 15 for packing list and Carrier ship to requirements. Close flaps and seal with tape. E. Apply shipping label (4 x 4) similar to Figure 9. Reference MFG PRO/PALI for label requirements. Palletize in accordance with Packaging Specification , paragraph on General Palletization Parameters. F. Juarez and Delicias Manufacturing - apply License (1 x 3) Tag to carton, see Figure 9 for placement. G. Delicias Manufacturing Only Shipments from Delicias to 8420 Triad, Greensboro, N.C. Reference MFG PRO/PALI for label requirements. Palletize in accordance with Packaging Specification , paragraph on General Palletization Parameters. F. Juarez and Delicias Manufacturing - apply License (1 x 3) Tag below CommScope label, see Figure 11. G. Delicias Manufacturing Only Shipments from Delicias to 8420 Triad, Greensboro, N.C.
