CDOandotherstudent servicesofficesshareinput share input onmessaging to prospective and admitted students. We are transparent in reporting law graduate employment outcomes and salaries, and we also provide comparative data on national law graduate employment on the law school website and in communications to prospective and enrolled students. We also report graduate employment outcomes to the ABA, NALP, U.S. News & World Report and other reporting entities.

25 Legal Market: hiring trends & recent experience Pi Private Practice Summer associate hiring has dwindled; many law firms have drastically reduced summer associate class sizes Many larger firms are reducing starting salaries from $160K and $140K to $125K More Baltimore firms are eliminating summer programs Increased competition for fewer summer positions has prompted many of ourhighly credentialed students to seek jobs inwashington, DC, NYC and other larger job markets Some mid sized Baltimore firms are replacing 2L hiring with 1L summer programs (with no commitment to hire students for future openings)

26 Legal Market: hiring trends & recent experience Public Service/Sector Government Honor Programs are either completely going away, losing funding or hiring significantly fewer law students and graduates. Paid federal government internships (which impact candidacy for post graduate employment) are decreasing more each year. More Public Defender and State Prosecutor Offices have adopted elite recruitment policies that focus hiring on graduates from elite schools. Maryland courts are paying judicial clerks at significantly lower rates compared with other state courts. More federal judges are requesting pro bono law clerks at the federal level Both Sectors Nationally, 1 in 7 graduates entered JD Advantage jobs; the rate has nearly doubled in 10 years.
