1 MBA Admission Requirements STEP ONE: Is the MBA program right for you? To determine if the MBA program is right for you, consider the following questions: 1. Are you ready for greater leadership responsibilities? 2. Do you want to gain the skills and experiences needed to meet the changing demands of today s market? 3. Are you ready to commit to a professional development process designed to help you achieve your goals? The business environment today is more challenging and demanding than ever. To succeed it s important to understand these challenges, to gather and analyze information and, most of all, to think critically. Our mission is to develop innovative and ethical leaders through interactive and dynamic learning experiences. Our MBA program is challenging, and you will reap the benefits of the time you invest in it. Because the program is designed for working professionals, the schedule can be balanced amongst full-time work, family and other commitments. We want you to succeed! Even if you haven t completed the required competency coursework or have lower than a 3.0 GPA, you can still apply to the MBA program. We ll work with you the whole way through to make sure you have every opportunity to achieve your degree. Admission Requirements: A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution is required. Three years of professional work experience (a combination of significant volunteer, internship and part-time work experiences may be considered.) Three letters of recommendation are necessary. Transcripts from all colleges attended must be submitted. If you do not have an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher, you may be provisionally accepted. You must achieve a 3.0 GPA in the MBA program by the end of the third course to be considered for full admission. Completed coursework in statistics, microeconomics, financial accounting and managerial finance are mandatory to begin the MBA program. Individuals without this background will be required to complete foundation courses prior to enrollment into the associated MBA course(s) or will have the option of demonstrating competency through challenge exams given by MBA program staff. International students are required to complete the TOEFL with a minimum score of 550.

2 STEP TWO: Understand your commitment. The MBA program includes a minimum of 36 semester hours. Students will complete the set of courses listed at the right. In addition to the core courses, students will select appropriate electives to meet the minimum 36 semester-hour program requirement. The MBA core requires the completion of 24 semester credits. In addition, students must select a concentration (business innovation and marketing, health care management or management) and complete a minimum of 12 semester credits from elective coursework to complete the total 36-hour requirement of the degree. All work to fulfill the requirements of a master s degree is to be completed within seven years from the date of the first course accepted into the program. Core MBA Courses (24 s.h.) 3 STEP THREE: Complete an application. Those wishing to apply for admission can either complete an application online or return the included application sheet to the MBA office. You can find our online application by visiting usiouxfalls.edu/. Remember to submit all requested information, including your electronic signature. STEP FOUR: Request letters of recommendation. Three letters of recommendation are to be distributed by the candidate to individuals who will complete and mail them directly to the MBA Director, 1101 W 22nd St, Sioux Falls, SD STEP FIVE: Submit official transcripts. The applicant must contact all colleges and universities previously attended to request that official transcripts be sent directly to the MBA Director. Official transcripts must contain the embossed seal of the college or university and the facsimile signature of the Registrar. Faxes are not considered official transcripts.

4 STEP SIX: Connect with us. Applicants are encouraged to call or the MBA office at any time throughout the application process. Applicants are also encouraged to contact the MBA staff for a campus visit. Once your completed application materials have been received, the admissions committee will review them. Applicants may be asked to interview with a graduate faculty member as part of the application review process. An applicant will be notified of the committee s decision in a timely manner. The University of Sioux Falls admits students regardless of race, creed, sex, national or ethnic origin, age or disability. STEP SEVEN: Consider program affordability. No cost Payment options All charges are due and payable at the time of registration for each term unless students have applied and been granted financial aid or have the support of their employers for tuition assistance. USF also offers a convenient, interest-free monthly payment plan. If you would like to apply for financial aid, please continue to Step Eight. If your employer is covering the cost of your tuition, please go to Step Ten.

5 STEP EIGHT: Seek financial assistance. The University of Sioux Falls is a private, Christian liberal arts university committed to helping students explore a variety of funding options to continue their education. You must be accepted for admission in order to receive a financial aid award. Financial aid awarded by the University of Sioux Falls to MBA students consists of scholarships and loans. Scholarships Entering students may be eligible for institutional scholarships. Students must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and demonstrate financial need in order to be eligible. Students who are receiving assistance from an employer or other third party organization are not eligible. The scholarships will stay in effect upon students continuous enrollment in the program and maintenance of a 3.5 GPA. Students who are not continuously enrolled in the program forfeit their scholarships. Students must complete a scholarship application form to be considered for scholarships. The application form may be obtained from the Financial Aid Office or from the MBA Director. Loans The University of Sioux Falls offers eligible students federal student loan opportunities as well as private alternative loans through private lenders. Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) annually at fafsa.ed.gov to apply for federal student loans. Enter USF s Federal School Code of so that USF will receive the results of your FAFSA electronically. Contact the USF Financial Aid office at (605) or usiouxfalls.edu for more information.

6 STEP NINE: Receive your Student Aid Report. Within two weeks after submitting your FAFSA, you will receive via a Student Aid Report (SAR) from the U.S. Department of Education. On the SAR you will find either a request for further information or a number called an Expected Family Contribution (EFC). A formula established by federal regulation is used to figure the EFC from the information you provide. USF officials use the EFC to determine your federal aid eligibility. 1. Award Letter Once you are accepted into the MBA program and all additional forms necessary have been received, your financial aid eligibility will be determined. You will receive an Official Financial Aid Award Notification letter listing the amounts and types of aid you are eligible to receive. Once you have received the award letter, you must accept or decline the financial aid offered you and complete, if necessary, additional forms and/or loan applications. 2. Student Loan Entrance/Exit Interview All students applying for federal student loans are required to complete online entrance loan counseling when borrowing loans for the first time at an institution. This counseling is required by law to inform students of their responsibilities regarding their loans. When students complete the MBA program or withdraw, an online exit counseling session must be completed. Both counseling sessions are located online at the University s website under Financial Aid. 3. MPN - Master Promissory Note Students wanting to receive Federal Direct Stafford Loan funds must complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) before their loans can be processed. An MPN can be completed online through the USF website under Financial Aid and is valid for 10 years. 4. Maintaining Eligibility In order to remain eligible for any federal financial aid students have been awarded, they must remain enrolled in at least 4.5 credits per term. Students receiving federal or institutional financial aid are required to maintain a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0 or higher and complete a minimum of 70 percent of their courses attempted. If students are considering dropping any courses throughout the MBA program, they are advised to first visit the Financial Aid Office to determine any affect on their financial aid eligibility. 7 STEP TEN: Do you qualify for employer tuition assistance? If your employer is providing partial or full-tuition assistance, please fill out the employer-paid tuition deferment form included with this guide and send it in for approval.
