I ll give you hints on how to pick and cut ahead so you can get most of a quilt top done in 4 hours. Advanced beginner- Rotary cutting skills needed Instructor: Marilyn Sunday, January 29, 9 1 pm Thread Play and Fused Fabric Flower Pillow Have you ever wanted to experiment, add texture and decorate with all those pretty threads you have been collecting? Learn to make a simple flower pillow and enhance the design with colorful threads. This class is designed for the quilter who wants to embellish projects with thread using the free motion quilting technique. Required: Rotary skills Thursday, January 26, 4 8 pm Bias Binding Workshop Finish that quilt the way it deserves! A well-done binding can make or break the finished product. In this technique class, you ll learn to trim your quilt, cut the binding on the bias, piece the strips together and sew the binding to your quilt. You will work with a practice piece that you can keep for future reference. Great for both first-time binders, and those who want to perfect their skills. Quilts are given to children who are ill, abused, or in difficult situations who could use the comfort of a quilt made for them. Experienced quilters only, please. Please bring your lunch or snack, your machine and sewing supplies. Quilt kits will be provided. Please register ahead so we know how many to expect. This class is designed for the person who wants to learn some basic sewing skills while making a beginner garment. We will discuss pattern layout, grain lines, proper pinning and cutting, the right stitch for the job and the difference between homemade and handmade. You ll make a fun and easy pair of Pajama bottoms and even get to use the serger for professional looking inside seams. Required: Book Wednesday, February 1, 10:30 2:30 pm One Block Wonder The One-Block Wonder is a one of a kind quilt composed of hexagonal kaleidoscope blocks created from a single fabric. The technique creates an art quilt full of swirling movement. For an optional border, you can also use the same fabric. In this class you will learn to how prepare and cut your fabric. Instructor: Mary Fee: $54 Saturday, March 4, 10 4 pm BEGINNER Beginner Machine Quilting I Your quilt top is finally pieced and your pattern ends with those three scary words quilt as desired. Now what? Take a deep breath, drop those feed dogs and start machine quilting! In this class, you ll learn to free-motion quilt some basic designs including curved lines, meandering, echoing, and loops. We ll also discuss needles, threads, batting and tension. Instructor: Sue Sunday, March 12, 12 4 pm Tuffet We are always looking for new ways to use fabric. Wouldn t it be fun to use our favorite fabric to make a piece of furniture? If this sounds interesting, then this is the class for you. In just two classes you will create your own unique tuffet. If you know how to use a rotary cutter and can sew a straight line, the class will be nothing but fun. In the first class you learn the technique to make the cover to your tuffet. You will then have time to complete your cover before the second class. The second class we put it all together. Go to the website for more ideas. Let s say that a class you're interested in requires rotary skills, and you re still snipping along with scissors. Well a 1-hour private class will bring you up to speed. Or say that you really want to get the hang of paper-piecing or some other skill. Or maybe our classes just don t fit in your schedule. Talk to any one of us and we ll find you the right person at the right time to teach you what you need to know. $25 per hour per person. Class registration policy Full payment is due upon signing up for a class. You can make payment in the store, online, or by phone. A supply list will be given or sent to you at that time. 100% of class fees are refundable or transferable to another class if cancellation is made at least 72 hours before class. No credit, refund or transfer to another class will be given if 72-hour notice is not given. Our teachers prepare for each student in each class in advance of the class. No-shows forfeit any refund or exchange.

5 Page 5 My MACHINE CLUBS AT PQW A monthly club that focuses on machine embroidery. Each month we will watch a video presented by Kay Hickman of Bernina of America, highlighting a specific embroidery technique. Everyone will get the chance to try the technique as the beginning of a project. We ll have supplies to get you started. Before you go you will receive a CD that includes a PowerPoint of the video, a tipsand-tricks handout and a featured embroidery design. Open to all machine brands. Bring your embroidery machine if you can. Please register at least 1 week in advance of each session to allow us time to prepare for you. You CAN Have it Both Ways Embroidering on napkins is always a fun, quick project and a great way to practice your embroidery skills. We will talk about placement and how to hoop (or not hoop) napkins, embroider on them and create them into a unique project perfect for travel. Thursday, February 16, 1 4 pm OR 6:30 9:30 pm Just for Embroidery In-the-Hoop projects are a lot of fun, and they make quick, inexpensive gifts! We will take a look at some examples of in-the-hoop items and suggest a cell phone charger station that keeps your phone charger neat and tidy. Thursday, May 18, 1 4 pm OR 6:30 9:30 pm Double the Fun Get ready for an easy double pocket pouch using two embroidery techniques: quilting in-the-hoop and couching with embroidery. Thursday, June 15, 1 4 pm OR 6:30 9:30 pm On the Edge Placing designs along a specific edge can be challenging! This lesson will discuss how to place designs so they fit within a specific length of fabric using multi-hooping. We ll show the technique applied to a cute and stylish apron. Thursday, April 20, 1 4 pm OR 6:30 9:30 pm Sew Many Options A tote is perfect for showing off embroidery designs!
