A maximum of three (3) spins may be performed: o Upright spins. o Sit spins. o Camel (no Broken Ankle, no Heel, no Inverted). Spin Combinations are free, chosen from the previous list. Must include a sit spin as a single spin or in combination. Footwork: There must be a step sequence (circular, serpentine, or diagonal and it must inclule: three (3) consecutive brackets; AND one loop step (double three with wrapped free leg). A good execution of the wrapped free leg shall receive a BONUS of 0.2 in the A mark by the referee. A spiral (arabesque) sequence must be included with a minimum of two positions, fully using the length of the skating surface and a minimum of half of the short axis. The pattern must be serpentine with at least two pronounced curves. Extreme controlled flexibility (position of the free leg more than 150 from the floor held for at least two (2) seconds), in at least one position shall be awarded with a bonus of 0.2 in the A mark by the referee. Remember that the program must follow the Well Balanced Program rule.
5 Please note: extra elements shall not receive credit by the judges and there shall be a deduction of 0.5 in the B mark given by the referee. Each element not attempted shall have a deduction of 0.5 in the A mark given by the referee. In the long program, a Mapes element and a Lutz element, single or double, individual or in combination, must be performed, an element not performed shall be deducted 0.5 (five tenths) in the A mark. TOE LOOP (MAPES) GOOD execution of the element: A Toe Loop (Mapes) performed with a turn of the toe stop of no more than onequarter of a rotation or less, while the employed foot is on the floor and the body position is a maximum of one-quarter turned without opening the left arm/shoulder, shall be given full value and be considered a good execution. FAIR execution of the element: A Toe Loop (Mapes) performed with a turn of the toe stop of more than one-quarter of a rotation, while the employed foot is on the floor and the body position is a maximum of one-quarter turned without opening the left arm/shoulder, shall be given half value. BAD execution of the element (open Toe Loop): A Toe Loop (Mapes) performed with a turn of the toe stop of more than one-quarter of a rotation, while the employed foot it on the floor and the body position is more than one-quarter turned and the left arm/shoulder is open. LUTZ In the Mini Infantil and Infantil divisions the Lutz jump shall be considered as such, when the edge and lean are to the outside before performing the toe spike. The toe spike is the moment in which the toe stop touches the skating surface. For each error of this type committed (incorrect edge and lean), there shall be a penalty of 0.2 (two tenths) in the A mark by the referee and the jump shall be given the value of a Flip by the judges. 7 7 Class B Spins OB camel IB camel OF camel IF camel Lay over camel Class C Spins IB sit spin OF sit spin OB sit spin IF sit spin GENERAL RULES There is no difference between Mapes and Toe Walley, both shall be counted as Toe Loop. All above elements must be performed. Any element not attempted shall have a penalty of 0.5 in the A mark. Additional elements may not be performed. Each additional attempted element shall have a penalty of 0.5 in the B mark with no credit in the A mark. Required elements may not be repeated. Any single spin with more than one position shall have a deduction of 0.5 in the A mark. Any spin combination with more than 3 positions shall have a deduction of 0.5 in the A mark. Any jump combination with more than five (5) jumps shall have a deduction of 0.5 in the A mark. Not performing the elements in the order listed shall have a penalty of 0.5 in the B mark. Short program step sequence: recognized jumps with a visible preparation, execution, and landing are not permitted in the step sequence. Please be conscious about extra recognized jumps in the short program. Broken ankle camel spins are not allowed in Mini Infantil, Intantil, Cadet, and Youth in any program. In the short program the judges shall give a poorly executed toe loop the minimum value of 0.6 in the A mark and the referee shall penalize the poor execution of the element with a deduction of 0.5 in the A mark, this also refers to jump combinations. In the short program, all spins executed with hitching or pumping (in the entrance, change of position, or change of foot) shall be considered spins of poor quality. A spin performed in this manner shall be penalized 0.3 in the A mark by the referee for each spin performed in this manner. If the skater falls during a travel, the spin (single and combination) shall be considered attempted. It may not be repeated because it would be considered an additional element. Penalized 0.5 in the B mark, no credit in the A mark. If a skater falls during the jump combination, gets up and continues, this jump shall be considered an additional element. If there is a step out between jumps, the combination shall have no value, but the penalty for an additional element shall not be applied. If three (3) jumps are presented correctly in the combination before a fall or before a step out, the combination shall be considered performed ( step out refers to interrupting the combination with a three-turn or support from the other foot). Penalized 0.5 in the B mark, no credit in the A mark. Falls (Short and Long Program):
8 8 A fall that carries a penalty is when more than 50% of bodyweight is supported by another part of the body other than the skates, there shall be a penalty of 0.2 in the B mark for each such fall. WELL BALANCED PROGRAM A jump of the same class (type and rotation) with the exception of jumps of one revolution or less, may not be performed more than three (3) times in the entire program. If the skater performs the same jump (type and rotation) more than three (3) times, there shall be a deduction of 0.3 in the A mark. All jump combinations performed must be different. If the skater performs the same jump combination more than once, there shall be a deduction of 0.3 in the A mark. There must be at least two (2) spins, one of which must be a combination. If the skater does not perform a spin combination, there shall be a deduction of 0.5 in the A mark. If the skater performs less than two spins, there shall be a deduction of 0.5 in the A mark. Two of the spins in the long program MUST be equally distributed throughout the entire program, this means that between two (2) spins in the long program there MUST be a minimum of two (2) other different elements (minimum one step sequence AND one jump or jump combination). General penalty of 0.5 shall be applied in the B mark for a program that is not well balanced. All spins performed with additional movements (entrance change of position, change of foot) of the skating foot ( pumping ) shall be considered a low-quality spin, therefore each spin performed in this manner shall be penalized by 0.3 in the A mark by the referee, for each spin performed in this manner. LONG PROGRAM YOUTH, JUNIOR, AND SENIOR Long Program: 4 min. +/- 10 sec. CIPA rules In the freeskating long program, skaters must include at least two different step sequences: diagonal, circular, or serpentine. A deduction of 0.2 from the A mark shall be given by the referee for an open Toe Loop. LONG PROGRAM CADET Long Program: 3:30 min. +/- 10 sec. CIPA rules It shall be possible to include a maximum of 6 jump elements. A jump element is an individual jump or a jump combination. Example: Double Lutz loop Double Toe Loop as a combination is ONE jump element, and Double Flip is also ONE jump element. Jump Combination: is a series of two or more jumps where the landing edge of the first jump is the takeoff edge of the second jump, etc. In the long program skaters must include at least one step sequence, either diagonal, circular, or serpentine. Not performing a step sequence shall have a deduction of 0.5 in the A mark.
