2 GENERAL INFORMATION QUESTION: Have Red Hat training courses and exams been updated to the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 platform? ANSWER: Yes. Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)-level courses and exam have been updated for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 and are now available. These include: Red Hat System Administration I (RH124). Red Hat System Administration II (RH134/RH135). RHCSA Rapid Track course (RH199/RH200). Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) Exam (EX200) Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE )-level courses will be available June 30, These include: Red Hat System Administration III (RH254). RHCE Certification Lab (RH299/RH300), formerly RHCE Rapid Track Course. Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) Exam (EX300). QUESTION: How do the new Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 courses map to the previous Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 curriculum? ANSWER: The Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 RHCE curriculum has been updated from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6. Many of the course topics covered in the version 6 courses are available in their version 7 counterpart. However, students are encouraged to go to /training/ and review individual course outlines to determine exactly what material will be addressed in each course. Red Hat System Administration I (RH124) has been revised to have a greater focus on command line administration but is otherwise similar in topic coverage. Red Hat Command Line Administration (RH190), which was available for version 6, has been retired for version 7. The topics covered in this course have been folded into RH124. Red Hat System Administration II (RH134/RH135) has been updated for numerous new Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 technologies but is otherwise similar in topic coverage. RHCSA Rapid Track Course (RH199/200) is very similar to its version 6 equivalent. For Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, students are expected to have more substantial Linux experience prior to class. Red Hat for Solaris Administrators (RH290), which was available for version 6, has been retired for version 7. The topics covered in this course are very similar to those covered in RH199/RH200. Red Hat System Administration III (RH254/255) is very similar to the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 version of the course. RHCE Rapid Track (RH299/300), which was available for version 6, has been re-titled RHCE Certification Lab (RH299/RH300), reflecting a change in course approach. The new design is practically all lab and very little lecture. The course targets two key audiences: people who have already earned RHCE and wish to re-certify, and people who have undertaken other Red Hat training and who want additional structured practice in order to prepare for the RHCSA and RHCE exams. 2

3 QUESTION: When will Red Hat Online Learning (ROLE) courses be available on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7? ANSWER: The majority of RHCE-track courses will be available via ROLE. After June 10, 2014, customers will automatically receive both Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 ROLE content for a period of 90 days (through September 8, 2014). Beginning September 8, 2014, students will receive the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 content only unless otherwise noted. Please contact your regional training center for more information. As additional courses are released, the ROLE equivalent will be concurrently made available. Contact your regional training center (see below) for more information about ROLE availability. QUESTION: When will RHCA-level courses and exams be available on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7? ANSWER: Red Hat will update the advanced, RHCA-level administration courses and exams during the rest of 2014 and into RED HAT CERTIFIED PROFESSIONALS (RHCP) INFORMATION QUESTION: I have earned the RHCSA on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and would like to earn the RHCE on version 7. Can I just take and pass the RHCE exam (EX300) and get credit for the RHCSA I already have? ANSWER: The answer depends on when you earned RHCSA. Beginning with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, we moved to a calendar-based system for determining whether a credential is current. RHCSA is considered current for three years from the time it was earned. Consequently, if you earned your RHCSA less than three years prior to the time you take your RHCE exam (EX300), you can just take the RHCE exam and do not need to take the RHCSA Exam again. If it has been more than three years since you earned RHCSA, you will need to retake and pass the RHCSA exam (EX200) again. QUESTION: I earned the Red Hat Certified Technician (RHCT) on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and was retroactively issued an RHCSA on version 5. Can I just take and pass the RHCE exam (EX300) for version 7 and get credit for the RHCSA I already have? ANSWER: You will need to take and pass both the RHCSA (EX200) and RHCE (EX300) exams. Even if you were retroactively issued an RHCSA on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 when Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 was released, the effective date of your retroactive RHCSA was the date you earned the RHCT, and it has been more than three years since that was earned. 3

4 QUESTION: What upgrade options are available for candidates pursuing a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 certification track? ANSWER: Candidates pursuing a RHCSA track on version 6 have the following options: All the candidates who have completed their RH124 course are advised to take RH134 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and the EX200 exam on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 to earn the RHCSA certification on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6. Candidates who have completed RH124 and RH134 are advised to take the EX200 exam to earn the RHCSA certification on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6. Candidates who completed the RHCSA on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 are advised to complete their RHCE track on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6. Under the new certification framework, candidates have flexibility to take RH254/RH255 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, followed by the EX300 exam on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, to earn the RHCE certification on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7. Candidates pursuing a RHCE track on version 6 have the following options: All candidates who have completed their RH254 course on version 6 are advised to take the RHCE exam (EX300) on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 to earn RHCE certification on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6. Candidates who have achieved the RHCE on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 are advised to take the new RHCE Certification Lab (RH299/RH300) followed by the EX300 exam on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 to earn RHCE certification on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7. QUESTION: Are there migration or updater courses available for customers moving from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7? ANSWER: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 is a sweeping overhaul and update of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Each of the ~2,000 packages in the distribution have been updated. In some cases, completely new subsystems are replacing the previous ones. Among the key new technologies covered in the RHCE track of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 are: systemd, firewalld, XFS, grub2, syscontrol, and realmd. Even for seasoned Linux administrators, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 will be somewhat unfamiliar, and they will benefit from attending updated training classes. ANSWER: Through ROLE, customers who purchase this version of the courses will receive both Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 until September 8, Customers with 6 or more students may purchase Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 on-site training for a limited time (see Regional availability information above). ANSWER: The extent of difference between Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 is such that an updater course is not practical. As a result, Red Hat Training has not created specific Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6-to-Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 migration courses. Customers interested in learning about Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 should take the appropriate course in their curriculum path. 6

The online skills assessment tool has been updated to reflect the new Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 curriculum. ANSWER: There are no price or Training Unit changes being implemented specific to the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 curriculum release. ANSWER: RHCE-level courses are in the process of being translated into: French, German, Spanish (Neutral), Portuguese (Brazilian), Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Korean, and Japanese.
