1 Storm Protection Products WIND LOAD-RATED GARAGE DOORS AND STORM PANELS
2 An important part of your severe storm defense During a hurricane or severe storm, your home can be breached if wind forces cause the garage door to buckle out of its tracks. When an opening is created, air pressure within your home can cause catastrophic structural failure. How can you defend the integrity of your home? Wayne Dalton offers a wide selection of garage door models with available options that comply with various approval agencies and building codes.* Approval Agencies / Building Codes WAYNE DALTON DOOR MODELS FABRIC SHIELD International Building Code (IBC) and International Residential Code (IRC) Florida Building Code (FBC) Florida Building Code (FBC) - Impact Rated Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) Texas Department of Insurance (TDI) - Impact Rated Miami-Dade County approved *All wind load options must be specified at time of order. Wind load-rated garage doors Many of Wayne Dalton s most popular garage doors now have wind load-rated reinforcement options. Doors with the WindSafe logo comply with requirements of one or more approval agencies, including: the Florida Building Code, Texas Department of Insurance and Miami-Dade County (FL). High-grade carbon steel hinges add stability. A combination of quick install and heavy duty jamb brackets secure track to door frame. Impact-rated garage doors Top section roller slide attached to U-bar resists inward and outward force. 3" commercial grade U-bars provide horizontal stability. Bottom section roller slide attached to U-bar resists inward and outward force. Wayne Dalton door models with the Impact logo have been approved for impact resistance. Tests show these doors are able to stop the direct impact of a 9 lb. 2x4 board at 50 feet per second. Although these Wayne Dalton garage doors have wind load and impact ratings, consult with a registered architect and engineer to be sure they are compliant with building code requirements in your particular area. 2 Tested and Rated GARAGE DOORS
3 Lose the garage door, lose the home Post-storm analysis indicates that 80% of residential hurricane damage begins with wind entry into the garage. 1 If the integrity of your home is compromised, wind, rain and blown debris have easy access into your home. 4 Induced internal air pressure can reach such a magnitude that it can literally blow off the roof and tear apart wall panels. 3 With wind speeds exceeding 111 mph (Category 3 or greater hurricane), the extraordinary pressure inside the home can compromise the structural integrity of walls and roof. 5 Window openings as small as 4 square feet can pressurize the home s interior, exerting forces on the structure like a turbine engine. 2 Debris driven by high velocity hurricane winds become powerful projectiles that can pierce ordinary garage doors breaching their integrity. 1 High wind events can cause un-reinforced garage doors to buckle, forcing the door out of the track and causing catastrophic door failure. 1 Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH)

31 Fabric-Shield Storm Panels and Pull-Down Shutters Fabric-Shield Storm Panels are a highly-effective alternative to steel or aluminum hurricane panels. These PVC coated woven fabric panels were tested and comply with the performance requirements of specification standards ASTM E-1886*, ASTM E-1996* and ASTM E-330*. Fabric-Shield panels are easily stored and easier to deploy. Panels are also translucent allowing diffused light to enter. *Refer to page 2 for listing of approvals. Storm Panels Pull-down Shutters use Fabric-Shield PVC-coated woven fabric in an easy-to-deploy pull down system. The low-profile shutter canisters contain each shutter when they are not in use. The pull-down shutter system is simply the fastest way to make your home storm ready. Find more information at under Support Storm Protection Pull-Down Shutters BEFORE AFTER 31
